I've seen a lot of threads with specific questions on say "syncing with calendar" or "why emails are not coming in", but I can not find one thread that will explain to me how to get outlook on my phone. I just started a new job and want to get my work email on my Droid but can not find simple instructions on how to do it. If there is a thread on this already, please post a link.

Motorola Droid X :: Updating Outlook Email More Often?

Jul 19, 2010

So I set up my outlook email for work on my X. I checked the Email Delivery settings --> Fetch Schedule and saw that "Every 15 Minutes" is the most often it can do. Is this the setting that tells the phone get inbox updates? I need my work emails updated atleast every minute, is there a way to do this for ONLY this email account? (Not my gmail, or any other email account)Maybe a workaround would be to have a text sent to me whenever something new is in the Outlook inbox?

Motorola Droid 2 :: Outlook / Exchange Rules And Froyo Email Sync

Sep 1, 2010

I just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.

Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.

Android :: Email Works On Droid But Not In Outlook

May 19, 2010

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am running BBv1.0 @ 1100Mhz (LV) with Fabolous' NexBeast and I would never have accomplished that were it not for the help I received in these forums. I am hoping that someone out there is an expert with all things Exchange and Outlook; I was able to add a new account in the stock email.apk which is tied in to the exchange server at work and have no problem sending/receiving mail. I followed instructions designed to add the exchange account on an iPhone but I'm having trouble porting the information into Outlook. My email address is different from my user name (i.e. user name is user1 but my email is firstname.lastname@company.com). On my phone I have Dominance, password and server but don't know where to put all of that into Outlook. Without revealing my company's name, domain, etc I have tried the following in Outlook: server_name domain under server and my user name for the mailbox: server_name under server and dominance for mailbox: server_name domain under server and first name.last name for mailbox.

HTC Hero :: Best Email Configuration - Microsoft Outlook POP3

Jan 5, 2010

I'm a proud new owner of the HTC Hero, I have a very specific interest in getting my email 'just so' on my Hero, and I made it work great. I think others may be in this situation so I made some detailed instructions that I thought I'd share in case it helps some people.

First off this is for those who (but not limited to):
1) Use Microsoft Outlook POP3 Mail
2) Want to keep that as your main mail source, but want to receive duplicates on the phone.
3) Want to be able to reply to a message from your phone and have it appear as if you wrote it from your computer.
4) Receive it as fast as possible
5) Conserve battery life
6) Want to use the HTC Mail widget to preview your messages and have a mail envelope icon in your notification bar.
7) Filter spam and other unnecessary messages from getting to your phone

The best way to set up email on an android phone:

Benefits:
- Email pushed to you, so its recieved quicker and preserves phone battery life. I went from about 8 hour battery life to about 27 hours.
- Combines addresses into one neat mail location
- Lets you reply as if you're replying from any of those addresses
- Filters spam and unwanted messages from getting to your phone
- Many mail options in android by setting it up this way. Ability to flag messages, sort messages, etc.
- Lets you view and quickly flip through or delete messages in a widget.
- Eliminates the "on behalf of" statement when sending through gmail.

How to set up:
- get gmail account
- set up gmail account to receive your mail account(s)... as many accounts as you may have.
- set up filters to filter spam, and any regular messages you dont want forwarded to your phone
- set up outgoing smtp servers instead of using gmail's. I use authsmtp.com. they are good and cheap. This will let you send your messages as if they were from your Outlook account and not send it saying from <your gmail address> on behalf of <your address>
- If you have troubles sending, you might want to set your smtp server's option to send as SSL, and do the same in Gmail...then they should talk nicely.

You probably have a bunch of other settings you want to set between Gmail and your Outlook as well. For example, you want to set your Outlook to leave the messages on the server, and then probably delete them after 2 days (so they don't build up eating up hard drive space). Then in Gmail, make sure that that too does not delete the messages from the server, so that if Gmail checks it first, it leaves it there for your main Outlook account to still get. Gmail is very powerful, as is Outlook so go through your settings to make sure they are all set up the way you want. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things you need to do, so take this guide as a starting point.

On your phone...

Menu->Settings->Data Syncronization->Google
- have auto-sync turned off, & background data turned on (for other apps that likely need it)
- shut off gmail syncronization from the settings menu.

- set up microsoft exchange activesync with gmail:
the whole point of doing this instead of just using the gmail app is to do two things:
1) let us use HTC's nice mail widget to preview and flip through messages, and
2) to have an envelope indicating we have new mail up in the notification bar instead of an @ sign that the Gmail App shows.

Also, if you just set it up as POP3 mail (which you could do to achieve the same thing) the mail notifications will be much slower, and it will eat up your battery life. The Exchange ActiveSync will preserve battery life and push mail to you like the Gmail app does. So again the point here is so you can use the HTC Mail Widget (2 points above)

So to set up ActiveSync with Gmail:
email address (all lower case): user@gmail.com
server address (all lower case):m.google.com
domain:<leave blank>
username (all UPPER CASE): USER@GMAIL.COM
password:<your password>

- Probably do not sync your contacts, this can screw up what you already have.
- Schedule as items arrive.

Now you can add the HTC Mail widget to neatly view messages in a widget, and you'll have an envelope at the top when you get new mail instead of the gmail @ sign, save battery, filter out spam and other unnecessary messages from getting to your phone, and other reasons listed above.

Android :: Outlook Syncing Email From Phone To Desktop

Aug 10, 2010

In iTunes (I switched from Tmobile iPhone to Android Slide), when you desktop sync, if you delete an email on the phone, it deletes in the Outlook application (once sync'd).I understand why this does not work with Google Sync (well not really.why would they not do the same thing the iPhone does with deleted emails.I guess they tag/keep track of deletions, then compare to the PC).I delete many emails via my phone. With the current setup, I then have to go and remember what was deleted, then do it again on my PC (Windows). TMO customer service has no idea their answer is you have to delete them twice (and basically remember what you deleted).

Also, if I forward my emails from hotmail to gmail will that accomplish my goal to get new messages without wasting space.

Sorry for a dumb question, but I am not sure exactly how this stuff works.

Android :: IMAP Email Not Shown In Outlook Sent Items Folder

Oct 18, 2010

I have an HTC Desire and have set up multiple email accounts on it with no trouble. The system works great. The only problem I find with work email accounts (non-gmail or hotmail) is that when I send an email it saves to the sent items folder on the phone but when I go to Outlook and go to the sent items folder there it does not show the sent item. But other than that there are no issues with sending or receiving. I am using 1and1 IMAP for these emails that are having trouble. Has anyone else found a solution to this without downloading an app. I am very used to the system already in Android 2.1.

HTC Desire :: HTC Sync Corrupting Email Addresses In Outlook 2010

Sep 14, 2010

I have a HTC Desire (updated to Froyo) and have been syncing my contacts with my Outlook 2010 (running Windows 7 Enterprise-32 bit). Everything seems to synchronize well but somehow the "email address-Display As" fields gets updated in outlook, which then doesnt allow me to send emails to those email addresses unless I manually go and update the display as field inside my outlook contacts. I have manually updated all the contacts once already hoping that it may not be due to HTC Sync but when I did the sync then immediately all my Outlook email ids got updated.

Now everytime I try and send an email I immediately get Undeliverable receipt from System Administrator stating the following:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: test Sent: 14-Sep-2010 17:41
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: abc@xyz.com on 14-Sep-2010 17:41
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

Motorola :: How Droid X With Outlook Express?

Oct 22, 2010

My wife bought a Droid X at Verizon today. She specifically asked if it would sync with her Outlook Express calendar (not a corporate Exchange server) and was told that Yes - it would. What they neglected to mention was that she would need to purchase a software package to do so. Does anyone know of a freeware package that works? I found a $40 package, but would rather not pay for this if I don't have to. Not having problems with email - just the calendar. She does NOT want to use the Google calendar.

Motorola Droid :: Outlook Contacts And Sorting

Nov 13, 2009

After a bit of fiddling I was able to sync my Outlook email, calendar and contacts. It looks great and I'm quite pleased except for one thing. The listing of my contacts is by first name then last. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to have the Droid reorder the contacts list by last name first. I've spoken with other Droid owners and they have no problem with first name then last, but for me it's a real time waster having to "find" a particular individual, as for many of them I don't know their first names, just last. Is there a way that I am unaware of to sort the contacts by last name first? Our IT guy discovered a work around, but it entails going through each of my contacts and changing the way the names are displayed in the "Full Name" category. For over 200 contacts this will take some time.

Motorola Droid :: Solution To Syncing Outlook

Oct 30, 2009

I remain baffled that we can have a device so advanced as the Droid in our hands yet Google has yet to release an easy way for us to sync our Microsoft Outlook contacts.I am in NO way affiliated with this guy, but I think I've found the best/easiest way for those of us that rely on Outlook for our contacts and calendars to stay in sync. Checkout gSyncit.Yes, it's $15. But for that price, you get an integrated solution to Microsoft Outlook that will sync your contacts and calendar to you gmail account. So even if you don't have a gmail account for your email...setup a dummy account and set gSyncit to sync your contacts/calendar to it. Then just setup your Android device to sync with the same account. In the end, you basically end up with a free push system that will always keep your desktop and Android device wirelessly synced. There are several other free sync solutions out there...but I've found most of them to be rather abysmal in their consistency and usability. In addition, gSyncit will sync contact pictures.

Motorola Droid X :: DX Not Syncing All Email Accts / Won't Send Corporate Email?

Nov 2, 2010

I have searched and haven't been able to find any threads with one of my issues, so I apologize in advance if I missed one. Anyways, my DX has been working flawlessly since I got it back on 10/6. Sunday, 10/31, my DX quit syncing just my corporate Exchange 2003 emails, then yesterday it started not sending emails as well and now, this morning, it quit syncing my personal email. Corporate email will sync manually, just not push. I have rebooted several times, pulled the battery several times, and also deleted both my Exchange account and my personal account and re-added both and the problem still persists. I don't have any task killer apps installed and haven't recently added any apps since the issues started. Anyone have an idea what may be causing the lack of push (in and out) on both of my accounts?
