Samsung Captivate :: Application Email Stopped Unexpectedly

Jul 19, 2010

I have been using a Samsung Captivate on AT&T for about 10 days now. Ive had the email client break 3 times during the last week. I can see all the headers and even send email. If I try to open an email and read it, I get an error (The application Email (process.com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

The only way that i have been successful in getting it to work again is to perform a "reset to factory default" which looses everything! I saw posts from Nexus owners that say you can delete email data but that doesnt help on mine. I initially thought it was caused by downloading apps from the market. I've gone 6 days without getting any new apps or updating existing ones and I just got hit with the email error again... I have both my gmail and exchange email accounts active on teh phone.

Ii have created a marker demowhich the marker on the map for which I have used pushpin.gif image. I have added the pushpin.gif in the drawable folders which is inside the resource folder. Motorola Milestone :: Application Email Has Stopped?

Apr 8, 2010

I've searched and seen various derivatives of this message throughout this forum, dealing with cameras, or email on different phones etc, but nothing exactly like this for the Milestone. Milestone: "Sorry The application email (process com.android.email) has stopped (unexpectedly) Please try again" followed by a "Force Close" button. This pops up dozens of times per day, causes no real problems that I'm aware of, but is pesky, as I have to keep tapping the 'Force Close" button all the time to make it go away (for a while).

I keep getting this message, "The process com.htc.provider has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." followed by a box to 'force close.'

I seem to remember it wanted to update about a week ago, so I hit ok and then the update failed. It has not asked to try and update again since then....
The phone will display this message upon start up and also will occur at other seemingly random times.

The phone works fine after pressing force close but does anyone know how to stop this annoyance?

Jelly Bean :: Email Has Stopped - Error With Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro

Dec 7, 2013

I recently have started to experiencing the infamous 'Unfortunately, Email has stopped" error with my Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro. The phone is using Jelly Bean 4.1.2 with Kernal 3.0.31-1371191. I have been able to use the native email application to check my email for easily the last year. However, last week, it has started to produce this issue. I am not sure what changed that has started to trigger it. I normally do not install updates, but as of a result of the error I have installed all updates to current to no avail. Allow me to explain what is happening and what I have done to attempt to resolve:

1. When I open email, I can see all my unread/read email for the various mail folders. When I attempt to open any individual email it hangs for a moment, then crashes with the above message.
2. When I attempt to compose an email it crashes with the above message.
3. When I attempt to add another account, after entering the email and password it crashes again with the above message.

Things I have done:

1. Restarted my phone
2. Force stopped email
3. I installed all the latest updates, even installed the 'at&t messaging' application.
4. I have since attempted to clear data and settings for email.
5. I additionally removed my accounts and attempted to re-add them. However, I am again greeted with the crash. So now I have even less functionality then I had previously.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Outlook / Exchange Rules And Froyo Email Sync

Sep 1, 2010

I just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.

Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.

Motorola Droid X :: Sound Notifications For Text And Email Stopped

Aug 16, 2010

I've had this happen to me twice now over the past week. It seems that periodically my notification sounds will stop. I will see that I have new emails but never heard the sound. I will then go send myself a test text message and it will vibrate but make no sound. I've made sure all my volumes are up, and even went in to pick a notification sound and it will work fine in the sound chooser when I pick it.

I also noticed both times that it did this if I go in to Spare Parts or Battery History and look my phone is staying awake and Android Usage is the one with the partial wake lock. Generally I don't have any sleep issues, it only happens when my notification sounds have also quit working. The only way to fix it is power off and back on and then all is good again.

I have built a game. When the user clicks a button on the main page, he is redirected to another activity for a predefined time(say 20 s) and then he returns to the main page where he can choose another button. Now, this works perfectly on the emulator but on the phone when I clicks another button on the main page, it says the application has stopped unexpectedly. Force close. However, if I wait for say 3 s before clicking another button, it works. Is it because the images on the background of the buttons are too heavy?

I did use the correct API Key That the final apk is signed with. This is the source(If you compile it shouldn't work as it is unsigned). This is the compiled signed apk

Android :: Application Process Has Stopped Unexpectedly

Apr 22, 2009

For some reason I can't explain, when my app runs, I will on occasion get the following error message: "The application xxxxxxxx (process xxxxxx) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". When I debug my code, it seems to break at random places that doesn't make sense. On top of that I tried to surround the entire code with a try/catch block just to try to catch the exception, but it doesn't work either. I'm suspecting it's the OS that is producing this error message but I don't know why. As far as my code goes, if there were exceptions caused by it, it would've been caught by the try/catch block. Can someone shed some light here?

Android :: Application Stopped Unexpectedly On Phone But Not On Simulator

Mar 8, 2010

I have an MapView app downloaded from Internet, when I tested it on the simulator, everything is fine, but when I installed it on my phone, the app stopped unexpectedly. Here is the code

public class CurrentLocationWithMap extends MapActivity {
MapView map;
MapController ctrlMap;
Button inBtn;
Button outBtn;
ToggleButton switchMap;
@Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { return false;
} @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.main);
map = (MapView)findViewById(R.id.myMapView);
List<Overlay> overlays = map.getOverlays();
MyLocationOverlay myLocation = new MyLocationOverlay(this,map);
myLocation.enableMyLocation();
overlays.add(myLocation);
ctrlMap = map.getController();
inBtn = (Button)findViewById(R.id.in);
outBtn = (Button)findViewById(R.id.out);
switchMap = (ToggleButton)findViewById(R.id.switchMap);
OnClickListener listener = new OnClickListener() {
@Override public void onClick(View v) { switch (v.getId()) { case R.id.in: ctrlMap.zoomIn();
break; case R.id.out: ctrlMap.zoomOut();
break; default: break; } } };
inBtn.setOnClickListener(listener);
outBtn.setOnClickListener(listener);
//switchMap.setOnCheckedChangeListener(new OnCheckedChangeListener() {
@Override public void onCheckedChanged(CompoundButton cBtn, boolean isChecked) {
if (isChecked == true) { map.setSatellite(true);
} else { map.setSatellite(false); } } });
LocationManager locationManager;
String context = Context.LOCATION_SERVICE;
locationManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(context);
//String provider = LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER;
Criteria criteria = new Criteria();
criteria.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE);
criteria.setAltitudeRequired(false);
criteria.setBearingRequired(false);
criteria.setCostAllowed(true);
criteria.setPowerRequirement(Criteria.POWER_LOW);
String provider = locationManager.getBestProvider(criteria, true);
Location location = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(provider);
updateWithNewLocation(location);
locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(provider, 2000, 10, locationListener);
} private final LocationListener locationListener = new LocationListener() {
public void onLocationChanged(Location location) { updateWithNewLocation(location);
} public void onProviderDisabled(String provider){ updateWithNewLocation(null);
} public void onProviderEnabled(String provider){ } public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras){ } };
private void updateWithNewLocation(Location location) { String latLongString;
TextView myLocationText;
myLocationText = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.myLocationText);
if (location != null) { double lat = location.getLatitude();
double lng = location.getLongitude();
latLongString = "Latitude:" + lat + " Longtitude:" + lng;
ctrlMap.animateTo(new GeoPoint((int)(lat*1E6),(int) (lng*1E6)));
} else { latLongString = "Position not found";
} myLocationText.setText("Current location: " + latLongString);
} }

Samsung Captivate :: Email Error Redundant Repetitions Of Email Address On To Line

Sep 6, 2010

I'm a newbie to this forum, and hope someone can help. Have had the Captivate for almost a month now and am plagued by an annoying problem. I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

Android :: Email Works On Droid But Not In Outlook

May 19, 2010

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am running BBv1.0 @ 1100Mhz (LV) with Fabolous' NexBeast and I would never have accomplished that were it not for the help I received in these forums. I am hoping that someone out there is an expert with all things Exchange and Outlook; I was able to add a new account in the stock email.apk which is tied in to the exchange server at work and have no problem sending/receiving mail. I followed instructions designed to add the exchange account on an iPhone but I'm having trouble porting the information into Outlook. My email address is different from my user name (i.e. user name is user1 but my email is firstname.lastname@company.com). On my phone I have Dominance, password and server but don't know where to put all of that into Outlook. Without revealing my company's name, domain, etc I have tried the following in Outlook: server_name domain under server and my user name for the mailbox: server_name under server and dominance for mailbox: server_name domain under server and first name.last name for mailbox.

It usually happens when I'm texting or using the Messaging widget on the home screen and today it has been happening very often!! Starting to get annoying.
