Motorola Droid :: Default Web Browser - When Click Links In Non-default Browser It Doesn't Send Links To Default One

Dec 15, 2009

I have installed Dolphin and like it, and I've made it my default browser, which is great. However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?

Motorola Droid :: Default Messaging App?

Feb 21, 2010

I know this is probably something REALLY easy to do but i cant seem to figure it out. I just changed to using Handcent SMS instead of the default messaging app and i cannot find out how to stop the notifications from the default messager app, because now it shows 2 notifications, one for each app, and select them, it will take me to the message, but i'll have to manually clear the notifications. Anyone know a fix for this?

Motorola Droid X :: Changing Default Camera App?

Aug 10, 2010

I am trying to make it so that when I push the camera (red) button on my phone, it launches Vignette rather than the stock camera. Does anyone know how to do this. I tried going to the "manage applications" and clear defaults on the camera, but the camera is not an application that shows up. I even reinstalled Vignette, hoping that it would prompt me to pick the default app, but no joy.Anyone know how to change the default camera, or else remap the camera button?

Motorola Droid :: Default Email - Contacts

Dec 23, 2009

Just realized that when I go into "Contacts" and select to email a contact that it is pulling up GMail rather than my Corporate Email client. All of my contacts are synced from my Outlook through my corporate Exchange server so I need to be sending the email from my corporate email. I've gone into corporate email and selected to make this the "default" email client, but it is still pulling up GMail when I select to email from Contacts. I also have the "Corporate Contacts" app that I downloaded from the Market. It syncs with Exchange as well, but it is also pulling up GMail when I select to email from there as well. Is there another default switch somewhere that I'm missing?

Motorola Droid :: Deleting Default Ringtones

Jan 25, 2010

Anyone know if we can delete the ring tones that shipped? I have a terminal emulator installed, so I think that would be the place to start, but am unsure if I can delete anything that's not on the SD card. I'm more worried what may happen if I do this. My reasoning for doing this is that I hate the built in ringtones, and have placed mp3's on the sdcard under /Ringtones and they show up in my Ring tones (no need to use the media player to do so). I have to browse through the ton of crappy tones to select the ones I'd like (obviously this isn't really a space issue, more convenience )

Motorola Droid :: Default Notification For SD Card

I actually like the default ringer type sound that comes standard as the SD card mounting sound.I'd like for it to be my ringer.I actually got it to work once using tone picker app but it wasn't perfect and had some quirks when using it.What I'd like to do is find the actual file and make a copy of it in my ringer folder(I have root access). But I looked high and low and cannot find where that default sound is on my droid.Anyone know?

Motorola Droid X :: Default Ringtones With Very Low Volume

Jul 17, 2010

In short the default ringtones seem to have a really low volume compared to many other phones imo. Any way to turn it up higher than the normal settings allow you to? Or do I need to install alternate ringtones? If so, what are some good ringtone apps to handle this? I have thought about Foxyring, but after reading some of the comments about it, I'm not too sure it's the best for what I'm trying to do.

Motorola Droid :: Way To Reset OS To Factory Default?

Nov 19, 2009

So I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.

Motorola Droid :: Default Calendar With Green Bar?

Feb 6, 2010

Just wondering if there's a better calender application out there or do most of you use the default one? I find the default a lil weird because of the green 'bars' that fill up corresponding to what time of day it is (not knowing if its a holiday bar or an appointment because its always green). What I am looking for is something that will sync with google calendar and act as a replacement for the default calender - something that will maybe show something for that day w/o clicking on it in monthly view? and maybe a better 'agenda' or something to keep track of my schedules.

Motorola Droid :: Trying To Set Dolphin As Default Browser

Nov 11, 2009

Is anyone else having trouble setting a default browser? I'm trying to set Dolphin as the default, but every single time I launch it, I get the dialog:
"Dolphin is not currently set as default browser. would you like to make it as default browser?

I click "OK", but if I kill the process, next time I launch, it asks me again. Also, if I check "Set as default browser" is the settings, that only lasts until the next time I open the settings (when it magically appears unchecked again). I believe I also had a very similar experience when I tried Browser and 1nternet.

Motorola Droid :: How To Set It So That Mobile Web Pages Are Not Default

Nov 6, 2009

I got an Eris today. I am happy with the phone in general, but I did not realize how much I may want a keyboard with a smart phone. I may go back and get the Motorola version tomorrow.

My only concern is I do not know how to turn off getting the mobile versions of web pages as the default on the Motorola Droid. There is an option to turn off getting mobile versions of web pages as the default on the Eris, but I could not find it on the Motorola version. If I am getting a fast phone with a good browser, I want the full version of web pages-not scaled down mobile versions. Can I change that option on the Motorola?

Motorola Droid :: JIT By Default In ESE53 ROMs?

Mar 10, 2010

I saw a post recently, can't remember where any more, that said that ERE53 ROMs come by default w/the necessary versions of the files, and all that you needed to do was add the dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit line to build.prop and you had JIT enabled.

Is anyone sure whether this is correct or not?

Motorola Droid :: Launch By Default Settings?

Nov 12, 2009

Last night I clicked a YouTube link sent by a friend through email. I got a notification window asking me if I wanted to open it in the browser or in the you tube App, along with a check box to always remember my answer. I picked one and hit the check box. Under the box it said if I wanted to change my settings to go to Home > Settings > Applications> Manage Applications to change the behavior.

However that specific menu item only contains apps I have downloaded. The YouTube app isn't there, and I had been coming up blank searching for where I can change the setting I chose last night.

When you go to Home > Settings > Applications> Manage Applications, by default its filter is set to just the apps you have downloaded, to see all apps on your droid, hit the menu button, and select filter, from here choose All to get to the app whose setting you want to change.
