Is it possible to run an app that monitors when your phone reboots? I've seen several people mention how various ROMs cause occasional/continual reboots for them, but I had never witnessed my phone rebooting on it's own... until today. Now I'm curious to know if my phone reboots when I'm not aware of it. I hate to think that the ROM I'm running is causing harm or problems for my phone that I'm not even aware of.

I am getting frustrated with all the re-boots on my Droid. They don't seem to be related to any running service, unless it is a background service. 98% of the time the phone reboots, it is "asleep" in my pocket. I will hear the notification chime, pull the phone out, and see the droid eye. suxxor, booted again! This happens about twice a day now. Before the 2.1 OTA it was about once a day. When the phone was new, it was about once every other day. Phone was rooted, but not rom'ed before OTA. I have not re-rooted after OTA. I have not wiped (ever), but am about ready to try. Recently added Helix as my home, but had the re-boots before helix.

I have flashed my fair share of ROMS the past few days, but after a 3 time total wipe (consecutive) and a nandroid restore from a few days ago when it was very stable. My only suspects are a re-downloaded FB app and Dialer One. I am thinking of doing the 0.9 update.zip for good measure.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI get random reboots occasionally. I do not think it is app related because it happens when my phone is in standby, I.E. in my pocket on table or even in Multimedia dock? Any suggestions anyone? One thing I think is suspect is Awakestay because It did not completely uninstall from my phone. Maybe it iscausing some kind of conflict. It was working fine and stopped working so I uninstalled when I went to reinstall it shows up as an installed app but it is not in my widget list and I do not have option to uninstall from market or app list.

She got the deal from Wireless Amazon Beta, where she only paid 39.99.I wasn't able to, wasn't eligible for upgrade and got mine at the store.Anyhow, her phone a couple days in would freeze, the screen would go black, and then it reboots.Now it happens a couple times a day at least.Obviously seems like it's defective, but I'm wondering if anybody else is dealing with the same problem?If so, have you taken into Verizon. what have they told you or done for you?Wondering if she should send this back to Amazon Wireless, or head into a Verizon.And I'm wondering what kind of return/exchange/refurbishing headache were in for.

I'm getting a weird "soft reboot." That's the only way I can explain it. My phone freezes, and then reboots. The weird thing is that in the about phone it will have a continuous up-time. For example it would say up-time: 4h 36m when it froze and rebooted 5 minutes ago.
The other weird thing is that at 1.1Ghz, I can do a 20 minute stress test with zero problems. But a couple minutes later while unlocking my phone or texting it reboots.
It isn't just this ROM or just being overclocked either. I've always had this problem with 2.2. I turned off overclocking, and I've been going strong for about 10 minutes but I doubt it will last.
Did the stock voltages change between 2.1 and 2.2? Is it possible that my phone just sucks and can't handle the new voltages?
This is weird and took me a while to pinpoint exactly when this happens. When I am done using my phone I usually hit the home button to get to my home screen, regardless of what app or what screen I'm on. Then I press the power button at the top top turn off the screen. Almost everyday with what I thought was no clear pattern, my phone would reboot just after setting it down when I was done using it. I found that when pressing power too quickly after pressing home when the app hasn't fully gone away yet causes the phone to reboot. I have been able to consistently do this today from the gallery, not just at a specific picture but when viewing the list of my phone pictures. Over half a dozen times just now, every time, home then power and it reboots. I uninstalled OpenHome thinking it was related to the custom home app, but even with the default home it is still happening.Gallery is not the main problem, it has happened from other apps, but that one I have been able to most consistenly reproduce it because it takes longer for that to close before getting to the home screen (I only have 52 pictures, so I can't imagine that is the reason). I am about to go to a verizon store and see if I can reproduce it on the phones on display.

I go to download/install the downloaded rom's from the rom manager and every time it reboots it doesn't work. I've been trying to get BB 1.1 with smoked glass, And it'll download, But wont install?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWith 0.1 and 0.2 there is a weird problem. Aside from my phone rebooting under load (Navigation running, then taking a call) - the widgets are funked. I don't know what triggers it, but even with a simple reboot or nandroid back up my widgets don't load - just the black box marker. I have fixed permissions, the apps go to internal memory, IDK. Even after a fresh nandroid backup, when I restore it - previously working widgets don't show up (just the place holder). I can only pin this on the DropTheme that I have, but it worked fine with the initial (non BB) Froyo. I am going to try non-themed 0.2.1 - nandroid it - theme it - nandroid it and test both. If it's FUBAR, I am just going to have to go back to non modded Froyo or 2.1.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen i plug in the usb charger or connect it to my car dock. When i plug it in, the phone reboots and goes to the droid logo/droid eye screen and hangs there. I have to pull the battery to turn it off and back on again. Once it reboots it doesn't seem to have a problem connecting, but after that and a f ew hours of usage it happens again when i plug it back in. I installed a lot of apps using appbrain recently and i feel like it started doing that after i installed them.

Don't worry, I'll still be getting another My battery life hasn't been as great as everybody mentioned, my phone suffers from random reboots (nothing helped, i tried it all), and now I noticed my camera has 4 stuck pixels. Not so bad in Camera mode, but a lot more prominent in Camcorder mode. So how should I do it? I purchased it in store at a VZW. So am I restricted just to that, or can I call VZW? Which route would be better? Anything I should know about beforehand?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWell since I've got into installing custom ROMs its nice, but I hate wiping data/cache. I've gone from Nexbeast 1.1 to Nexfro .4 without a wipe. No complaints but when I drop my phone it immediately reboots. When I open it and click stuff to fast it will reboot and sometimes for no reason at all. Is this because of me not wiping data or just sucky phone? Using stock kernel. When going to CM6 should I wipe data?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo...I am currently using a custom sound for my notifications. Since we aren't allowed to access the internal storage, the sound file is stored on the sd card by default. Today when I plugged my phone in (which is defaulted to USB Mass Storage) it started to play the sound from the card, but Mass Storage mode steals the SD and blocks it from the phone, so halfway through the sound, the phone rebooted. When the phone was almost restarted, it recognized being plugged in (still) and tried to play the sound again...reboot. I unplugged it and changed the default notification to one of the pre-installed ones and tried again. Notification played and everything was fine....wtf? So.....can I either disable the sound when I connect to USB mode or is there a way to put the sound file in the folder with the factory installed ones? (I am rooted)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new battery for my Droid, and the battery came 60% charged. So I did the battery drain until it powered off. I then put it on the dock to do a full charge, and now the phone is in a constant boot loop. It reboots up to the home screen and mounts the SD card. It stays on for about 5 seconds after mounting the card, and then reboots. I tried just plugging it into the charger w/o the dock, and still does the same thing. I have also tried pulling the battery, putting it back in and charge. Same. I have even tried doing a power down from the home screen within the 5-10 seconds the home screen stays on, but no luck. It turns off before it completes the shutdown and reboots again.

I finally got my uk milestone (i'm in scotland) after waiting two weeks for it to arrive. every time i switch it on it gets to the android homescreen, i get about a minute of pottering around done and the phone resets and boots all over again. has been doing this for about an hour, over and over. wtf? i managed to check the firmware version quickly and it's 2.0. dunno if that makes a difference.

It'll stop at the T-Mobile "Stick Together" screen, which requires me to do a battery pull. I was hoping battery pulls were a thing of the past for me after giving up BB's.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been having spontaneous reboots on my CLIQ, usually while on 3G. Was on wifi for about 1-2 weeks before I got my data plan and never had the reboots(but then again didn't have wifi 24/7), then I got my data plan and was just using the web (motoblur, news, websites) and the CLIQ would just spontaneously reboot once in a while, and the underside of the phone near the sdcard/SIM card area would get rather warm. Seems like it happens after some time of usage. If I ration the usage I don't see it happening as much.
When it reboots I see the screen fade out with horizontal lines that kinda look like patterns on old interlaced TVs. Then after that I get the motorola black/white logo after it reboots.
I have had the Eris almost since it came out. I am updated with the latest OTA OS. In the last couple of days my phone just decides to reboot on its own. It reboots when the screen is off and I go to use the phone. I hit the key to bring the screen up and it just reboots. I am not rooted or OC'd.
View 4 Replies View RelatedTonight I showed my wife, who has a Droid Eris like me, that the icon in her notification panel was telling her there were updates available for some of her apps. Turns out she hasn't updated any of them so she updated them all at once. Her phone starts lagging quite a bit and reboots itself spontaneously... just goes to a black screen and then restarts and boots back up. Once I realized what was happening I canceled the updates that hadn't yet downloaded and started Taskiller to get rid of all the programs running. Now her phone won't stop rebooting every 5 minutes or so. I did a hard reset by taking the battery out for a minute... does anyone have any suggestions? Her phone's been fine until tonight.
