HTC Magic :: Wireless D-Link Router / DHCP Failed
Jul 23, 2009
I want to use my HTC Magic with my W-LAN-Router (from D-Link, using DHCP).Using the valid WEP - hexadecimal key the HTC Magic tries to retrieve an IP address from the router, but then I always get a failuremessage.I log onto the router with my Macbook and also with my Iphone without any problems. Since there is not much to change about the connectionsettings, I dont know what to try to get the Wireless going.Does anyone have similar experiences or even better suggestions how to solve this problem?

I've just moved house and got a new internet connection. Formerly my Magic was connected to my wireless router and all was well. It still connects to wifi hotspots etc. but it just can't see the new one. Two laptops and one notebook all work, as does my wife's iPhone. I'm not sure where to start looking. I can get into the router and mess about with the wireless settings if necessary. In particular, these look interesting. Currently set to the defaults: Code...

I checked my wireless router this morning and noticed that a device called "android_22a10000" was showing up in the DHCP client list. I usually leave my Android WiFi off at night so I checked it. Sure enough, it is in the "off" position. I'm using the latest Sprint/EVO 2.2 release and and wondering if anyone else has noticed this little tidbit? My perception is that it isn't truly off and is using already limited, precious battery resources on the EVT to connect to the WiFi.

I previously had my wireless working just fine at home but since I changed my subnet, (new dhcp and dns server installed), the wireless will no longer work. I went from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.10.x.
The wireless seems to connect but then when you browse it will not find anything. It is like it still has an old IP and doesn't know the new route and DG. I did "forget network" and reentered the key etc., but no success. Is there a way to investigate exactly what settings it has or reset everything so it has no idea about old network settings?

I am looking at purchasing a wireless router so when I am home, my phone will connect, giving me better signal (my signal at my house is not the best). I will be connecting 2 mytouch3g slides to it. I am completely clueless as to what kind of router do I need. What should I be looking for in a router? Is there a specific type so I can have 2 phones linked to it?

Is it possible to connect the phone to a router to create a wireless hotspot? Would/could this give better coverage than simply using the phone as the hotspot? I currently have a Rezound, and have yet to root so I am stuck with tethering, for now.

Just got my wildfire, running android 2.1 and cannot obtain an IP address from my TP Link TD W8920G router. log in the password etc and it just keeps getting stuck in a loop saying 'obtaining IP address', then unsuccessful.
I've tried manually adding the phone's MAC address to the router configure, and have assigned an IP address to the phone, following advice on other forums. I've upgraded the router's firmware, and I've rebooted the router. I've attempted to 'use static IP' but truth be told i don't really know what that means.

I made a post about this in the Froyo 2.2 features I was not aware of thread, but am making a new post here - just in case it is because of something else, like, say, the baseband update.According to DROID by Motorola - Android phone - Motorola USA I have wireless B,G connectivity. However, my DROID is currently connected to my wireless N router, which it can now see since I switched said router from the 5.8 GHz band to hte 2.4 GHz band. No, the router it not provisioned to supply N and G - it is supplying N only.

i have a linksys N-wireless broadband router. My motorola droid will says it is connected to my network with a strong signal. But when i try to go to a website in the browser it will not load the new page and after a while it says "web page not available the web page at www.website.com might be temporarily down or it may have been moved permanently to a new web address. here are some suggestions : Check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection. reload this webpage later. or view a cached copy of the web page from google. So it will not connect to another website. So i went to the verizon store and asked them what was wrong, but then my droid connected to their wireless network just fine. So i came home and the same problem happened again with my wireless connection. Has anyone else had this problem and if so then how do you fix it. Is it my droid, or my wireless router.

So, I will try to be as detailed as possible, but this may be outside the scope of this forum. I will respond to any direct questions in regards to my configuration.I have a brand new Motorola Droid 2 and a Cisco 851w wireless router which I have configured myself.I can successfully associate the droid 2 to my wireless network. It obtains an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.Using an android market ping utility, however I cannot ping externally or even to my gateway.I've tried the following in the process of my troubleshooting:tatically assigning my droid's internal addresses (and explicitly naming DNS).Unhiding my SSID Provisioning an alternate completely unsecured, unhidden wireless SSID (as opposed to an original hidden SSID, WPA2/PSK configuration)Restarting the phone and routerLaptop devices are able and have been able to associate, and pass traffic without issue for over a year.I cannot really pinpoint an issue with this setup, as I am able to associate and browse consumer/business wireless networks elsewhere without issue. Searches for the above described issue yield the same suggestions I have attempted in the process of my troubleshooting.

Okay, so I am totally going to be new to the android phone. I am so excited! I have a question, and fear it may be a stupid one, but will ask anyway! Do I need a wireless router for my Droid Incredible to connect to Internet? Or will the phone connect to the Internet like my LG Dare already does (click on icon and it goes to Internet)? Or can I connect both ways? Do you know what I mean? I am supposing that that if I had a wireless router, that would allow me wifi connection. Is that faster than just using the phone on its own?

Anyone having issues with the reply of a message in facebook? When I go to the facebook website I get forced into the m.facebook.com site (and iphone.facebook.com). When I try to reply to a message (inbox) it doesn't do anything. It only works if I go to the full site, but that is annoying and doesn't work too well on the htc magic.
I wonder if it is because of the rom update and/or being auto-directed to the iphone.facebook.com?

I recently bought a HTC Magic. At work, we have a secured wireless network. When connecting to this network, we are asked a username/password for the domain. Now, my question is; With my HTC Magic, how can I connect to the domain network? On my previous HTC (S710 or 720, with WinMob) , it was possible.

I am using an HTC Magic (Firmware version 1.5) and I am having problems syncing the contacts with Microsoft Outlook (on Windows XP). After I initiated a sync, the phone will reboot itself (after a couple of minutes, during the stage "Preparing data from your phone") and return the error "2 General" "No connection to the phone". I have done "Factory data reset" a few times. Every time I have done the factory reset, it will work for a while and then the problem will come back again.

Does Froyo Fix the DHCP Netmask issue on the Galaxy S? Does it actually take the DHCP info from DNS and populate netmask as 255.255.255.0 instead of 255.0.0.0 on some networks? THIS IS ALL I WANT OUT OF FROYO! I want to finally be able to connect to my workplace's damn Wi-Fi. I take a lot of crap from my Motorola Droid and iPhone coworkers because of this enormous issue with the Galaxy S.
More info on this here:

I have a WebView in my Android App that is loading an HTML string using the loadDataWithBaseURL() method. The problem is that local anchor links (<a href="#link">...) are not working correctly. When the link is clicked, it becomes highlighted, but does not scroll to the corresponding anchor.
This also does not work if I use the WebView's loadUrl() method to load a page that contains anchor links. However, if I load the same URL in the browser, the anchor links do work.
Is there any special handling required to get these to work for a WebView?
I am using API v4 (1.6).
There isn't much to the code, here are the relevant parts of some test code I've been working with:
