I have two apps that I must manually start on each power on: "Call Filter" and "Phone Found". Surely there must be a program that allows you to START selected apps at power on. I know there are many apps that allow you to prevent and app from starting, but I have not seen one that allows you to start selected apps. [DROID X, 2.2, not rooted]

I have a Droid and download many random apps. Many of them run and I kill them often to not have a laggy performance but it still happens quite a bit. I get many random force closes from all kinds of apps.
Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).
If I Force Stop an app (via Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Any App->Force Stop) will the app ever start up automatically again or is the only way to start it up again to have the user start it. I have an app that starts a service. The service registers an alarm I've defined, with the Alarm Manager and this is recieved as expected. In my manifest I've defined a TimerIntentReceiver, to receive that alarm I've defined. If I Force Stop the app then is it possible to have the Alarm Manager "wake" my app up via the TimerIntentReceiver I've defined. I'm not seeing this happen. Once I Force Stop my app it never runs again unless I manually start it. Is there anything I can listen for, apart from BOOT_COMPLETE, to start up my app? Or does the user always have to start all apps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, I've had to uninstall several apps that I liked because they force start on boot and my Droid was becoming completely laggy because of too many apps starting on boot. I understand that some apps/widgets need to start on boot, but others its completely unnecessary. At a minimum, make an option in settings to let the user decide if we want it to start on boot up.
I just uninstalled Note Everything, Estrong File manager and Weatherbug because they were starting on boot. I love MixZing and I am kind of annoyed that it starts on boot, but its an app I "need" so I can't uninstall it. I'll probably email all these devs and ask about giving the option not to start on boot.
This app has multiple activities: eg: Activity1 -> Activity2 -> Activity3. If the app is opened after the Home button is used while in Activity2, the app returns to Activity2, but the desired functionality is for the app to always start with Activity1 from the launcher. Adding a finish() to the onStop() for Activity2 does cause app to start with Activity1 following use of the Home button, but then Activity3 causes the app to revert to Activity1 when it finishes, rather than Activity2, which is also undesirable. Is there a way to force the app to always start with Activity1 following use of the Home button? code....

I am rooted and rom'd and everything works great. But I have noticed that when using app killers sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10 times) When I kill all apps my SenseUI restarts. So I've started looking at the apps that are being killed before killing them to see if I could find out what is causing this but everything seems to be normal and I cant figure out why this is happening.

However, general approach with startActivity(intent) ends with NullPointerException pointing to BluetoothSettings.java onCreate:135. Checking with the Android code, I've found that at line 135 they get some extras from the intent. So I prepare the same extras (names I've found in android core BluetoothDevicePicker interface) and issue it -- the same effect with NullPointerException. Might be the wrongs names of the extras I prepare? So is there a way I can see those extras (with names especially) from the intent the system itself submits when I open Bluetooth Settings manually acting like a user. Code...

It begins at the start of the song Say... random example.... that I wanted Mr. Roboto as my ringtone. There's a lot of intro to get past till the good stuff begins. If I want to hear the hook, the call has long since gone to voice mail.

They gave me a new one and haven't had the problem.until yesterday. At least twice a day now, since yesterday, i get a message saying: The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...so i hit Force Close and then it just stays on a blank black screen so i hit the home button and hit messaging again and it pops up again. I take the battery out and that works for a few hours but then it just happens again...i don't wanna take this one back again and get a new one.I mean i have anti-virus (i dunno if it's good though lol) so I don't think it could be an app...i use the standard Messaging app that came with the phone, not Handcent or something else.will someone.I searched but they all seemed to be for different phones, not the droid.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe SMS keeps force closing on me on my Droid 41/09. Sometimes two or three times a day. When it force closes, it deletes all threads. It even does it when there is only one thread with a few messages in it. I haven't noticed anything specific that causes the force close to happen, it just happens when it wants to. I removed all downlaoded apps and the problem persists. I am using the default messaging app. Is anyone else experiencing this and has anyone found a solution? I absolutely love this phone and it is my first Android device.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery morning I listen to RadioTime on my way to work and it is constantly losing it's connection and then buffering for a while to reconnect. I can't figure out the problem because when it shuts off, all it takes to get it up and running again is to hit pause and then play. Judging from that I don't think it's an issue with where I'm at not having a 3G connection. If anyone knows a fix for this it would be much appreciated.I apologize if I didn't explain this very well, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Now, it wont start up, it just starts and a constant red light turns on (same as when battery is low, but constant) It shows the battery empty but it wont let me charge it, so i dont know what to do..

I use AOL (gasp, I know hehe), and it has never done so, until I recently updated to the latest Cyanogen update, via the Rom Manager program. I've attempted the "clear data" fix that people have referenced multiple times, without it working on any attempt. I've also reinstalled the rom, and tried a few back versions, all with "clear data and cache" selected, to see if that would help.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi recently flashed the 2.2 MDW ROM and everything went well for like the first 30 minutes. So i was restoring my applications and such and on the first attempt i restored some things using My backup pro and as soon as I restored my data when i tried going to my home screen the launcher would constantly force close. So of course i couldnt accomplish anything while this was happening so i had to nandroid and start over. On the second attempt i tried NOT using My backup pro thinking that that was the issue but then yet again my launcher started force closing. Now i really want to go to 2.2 but obviously i cant because of the launcher force closing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the droid about a month or two ago and to date I love it. The ability to customize it and the applications available are amazing. My issue though is the force closures on several applications, the ones I've had issues with are handcent, homerun battle3d, visual voicemail and helix launcher. I may have left one or two out but those are the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I emailed the developer of handcent and they were very fast in responding to my email and we spoke over google talk today at length.
We were unable to figure out the problem for sure but after I did a factory reset, handcent now works again because I love this sms app! I'm not sure about homerun battle and helix cause I no longer use either, but the factory reset fixed visual voicemail as well. After doing the f.r and handcent working again, spoke to the developer again and was asked if I had any other sms apps on my phone. Now I did have chompsms on there at one point and I was advised that this is a possible reason for the f.c issues with handcent. If this is true I would like to ask you guys who are more tech savvy than I if I'm installing certain programs on my phone that are causing the force closes.
I keep getting these force close messages com.jessonyip.analogy and com.gmobilesoft.freeweather. It happens sometimes when I disconnect my bluetooth or go from 3G to WiFi. Does anybody know what app these are, so that I can just uninstall them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOut of nowhere this morning, my gmail app started force closing. i haven't installed any new apps in the last couple days.
When i tap the icon, it'll load the first few messages in my inbox then it'll pop up with "the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." on the rare occasion that it doesn't FC right away, it'll load the first few messages and at the bottom of the screen will say "No connection" so i'll tap the "retry" button next to that, and THEN it will FC. (and i'm not 100% sure, but I think that same process FC kills off my gchat, too.)
I'm non-rooted running 2.1 still (no froyo yet).
I am having many problems with force close on many apps. Most of them factory apps, and then lag after the force close on other apps.

Well yesterday, it started to do a force close when I click to open an email. I can synch and view the headers without any problems, just can't click on the email. I have rebooted, hard shut off, and done *228, and nothing has worked. Gmail works just fine.

It is currently stuck like it is downloading and sometimes it even says it's 100% downloaded, but nothing happens after that. If I click on cancel download, it force closes the market every time. I tried deleting LauncherPro and reinstalling it, but now I have lost it and can't get it back. I am still able to install and update other apps without any problem.

Could I back up my current ROM, install a new ROM, download the app, move it to SD using Titanium, copy the files on to my laptop, revert back to my current ROM, and copy the files back onto the SD? (I wouldn't know where to look for all of the files.)
I did do a search, but didn't find anything. I had been running Cyanogen's latest 5.0.5.3 I had also been using Ultimate Droid 8.1.1. I had decided to flash to UD from CM. I used ROM Manager. I had been using the Helix 2 launcher with UD. I decided to try the launcher2, so I checked that. The whole process ran apparently normally. Except it did lock up at the cache backup stage at the dalvik cache backup. I had to pull the battery and re do the ROM download from ROM manager. However, when the screen pops up after all of the boot antimation cycle, and you unlock, there is an immediate launcher2 force close. I can get to nothing in the phone. I do have the entire contents of my sd card on my laptop, which has all of the backups on it, not including this latest one.Power off and hold the X key does not work, so I can't get to reboot recovery that way. Multiple power off and battery pulls did nothing. Another point is that I had been able to download UD only if I checked AdamZ's 1.0 low voltage overclock kernel. I would get ROM download error with ANY of the other kernel choices. I tried this after the ROM Manager update I found tonight. This time I checked Chevy's 1.25 low voltage, and the process seemed normal, other than the lockup during cache backup noted above. However UD had been running just fine when I had used it. S

Now for some reason I can't get any of it to work. I'm sure I have a driver conflict somewhere. What I want to do is wipe out all the drivers that are installed for my X and start from scratch like my X has never been plugged into my computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo im running SmokedGlass 4.5 and i've been having some problems that i was wondering if anyone has had or knows a fix for etc...So im overclocking and it seems kind of stable at 800 but as soon as i bump it up to 1000 i have some problems with force close and it seems kinda buggy. anyone else have this problem or knwo anything about it? it also will glitch out like crazy sometimes if im just on the homescreen where the notification bar will just bug out and start going up and down and the lancher will open and i will scroll thru and it will just go up and down and select random apps.
