Motorola Droid :: Ultimate Droid 8.1.1 Launcher 2 Force Close

I did do a search, but didn't find anything. I had been running Cyanogen's latest 5.0.5.3 I had also been using Ultimate Droid 8.1.1. I had decided to flash to UD from CM. I used ROM Manager. I had been using the Helix 2 launcher with UD. I decided to try the launcher2, so I checked that. The whole process ran apparently normally. Except it did lock up at the cache backup stage at the dalvik cache backup. I had to pull the battery and re do the ROM download from ROM manager. However, when the screen pops up after all of the boot antimation cycle, and you unlock, there is an immediate launcher2 force close. I can get to nothing in the phone. I do have the entire contents of my sd card on my laptop, which has all of the backups on it, not including this latest one.Power off and hold the X key does not work, so I can't get to reboot recovery that way. Multiple power off and battery pulls did nothing. Another point is that I had been able to download UD only if I checked AdamZ's 1.0 low voltage overclock kernel. I would get ROM download error with ANY of the other kernel choices. I tried this after the ROM Manager update I found tonight. This time I checked Chevy's 1.25 low voltage, and the process seemed normal, other than the lockup during cache backup noted above. However UD had been running just fine when I had used it. S

After forcing the 2.1 update the launcher.apk keeps force closing and i cannot do anything do i have to wipe data and do a factory reset?

No not the OTA. My Helix Launcher decided to force close ALOT. Back to back. I rebooted my phone to no avail. I pulled the battery and nothing was fixed. I tried to pull the app drawer and select the Uninstaller app, but it would force closed before I could open it.
Then I had a revelation: I have the Market as one of my shortcut apps on my Helix dock. I opened it up and went to my downloads, and opened the Uninstaller app. Uninstalled Helix, and now I am good to go.
I tried to switch from 5 screens down to 3 and it all started.

I just got my droid about 2 weeks ago. I returned it the next day because it kept force closing on my sms. They gave me a new one and haven't had the problem.until yesterday. At least twice a day now, since yesterday, i get a message saying: The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...so i hit Force Close and then it just stays on a blank black screen so i hit the home button and hit messaging again and it pops up again. I take the battery out and that works for a few hours but then it just happens again...i don't wanna take this one back again and get a new one.I mean i have anti-virus (i dunno if it's good though lol) so I don't think it could be an app...i use the standard Messaging app that came with the phone, not Handcent or something else.will someone.I searched but they all seemed to be for different phones, not the droid.

I keep getting these force close messages com.jessonyip.analogy and com.gmobilesoft.freeweather. It happens sometimes when I disconnect my bluetooth or go from 3G to WiFi. Does anybody know what app these are, so that I can just uninstall them?

I didn't do an exhaustive search, but I can't find the answer. I have been using exchange email since day 1 and no problems. Well yesterday, it started to do a force close when I click to open an email. I can synch and view the headers without any problems, just can't click on the email. I have rebooted, hard shut off, and done *228, and nothing has worked. Gmail works just fine.

I had LauncherPro installed on my phone and it was set to automatically upload. It is currently stuck like it is downloading and sometimes it even says it's 100% downloaded, but nothing happens after that. If I click on cancel download, it force closes the market every time. I tried deleting LauncherPro and reinstalling it, but now I have lost it and can't get it back. I am still able to install and update other apps without any problem.

I rooted my managers phone and gave her 0.5.3 back when it was the standard fresh rom. Well last night she used fresh updater I believe to go to 3.1.0.2, which I know requires a wipe but she isn't exactly savvy on all of this. In any event, after the update the phone does not load the launcher. Upon unlocking the phone it is stuck in the com.htc.launcher has stopped unexpectedly. And after force close it loops this error. I can only see the lock screen or access the phone's SD card from my PC, I can change options such as "charge only" "disk drive" "usb debugging" but that's about it. Other than that I can get to Amon Ra recovery.What are my options for helping her out with this?

I'm getting an error in the battery manager in 2.2.I get that new battery icon in the battery manager. When I click on it, I get an error saying "process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly."Anyone else have this issue (I know some people said it does work) or have any ideas what I might be able to look at to fix this?

I'm running Android 2.2, Battery Manager that came with the phone preloaded is version1.1.I can select Battery Mode and change the modes just fine.But when I click on the big picture of the Battery where it says 'Touch for usage statistics' the app force close on me.

I have had zero issues connecting my Droid with my corporate exchange client, which has been fantastic and refreshing, however, in the last week I have had email tell me it had to force close 3x.Each time it does, when I go to re-open everything is gone, it goes back to the sync an account/enter email address set up. Each time I do it on the far left the bars are a different color (what does this mean), right now they are the color of this smilie.Anything I can do to stop this from happening? Are there other email apps that might work better and have this not happening? I keep 2 weeks worth of emails on my phone so when something like this happens it is not a quick fix to get back where it was.

i recently flashed the 2.2 MDW ROM and everything went well for like the first 30 minutes. So i was restoring my applications and such and on the first attempt i restored some things using My backup pro and as soon as I restored my data when i tried going to my home screen the launcher would constantly force close. So of course i couldnt accomplish anything while this was happening so i had to nandroid and start over. On the second attempt i tried NOT using My backup pro thinking that that was the issue but then yet again my launcher started force closing. Now i really want to go to 2.2 but obviously i cant because of the launcher force closing.

I have rooted my phone, tried to partition sd card although not to sure that it took since I could not get a reading on my computer, flashed xtra rom 3.0.3, was running Launcher pro and all was hunky dory although I could not get any find any of my apps. I ran a restore from My Back up and restored my apps which in turn also restored Launcher pro (again).I am now stuck in a force close loop of Launcher pro after rebooting. I have done a hot battery pull and still am stuck.

I've noticed my Nexus acting a bit buggy since the 2.2.1 update. Lots of force closes with the launcher. (which is exactly why I shredded and burned my old MyTouch for). After FINALLY getting a THIRD 16 gig card, after the other two got "damaged" costing me so far 25-30 gigs of content, I loading it up with movies and songs for my vacation. I go to reboot and it keeps looping the boot animation but wont boot up. Getting really close to kissing Android good bye as I've had NOTHING but bugs and damaged SD cards and an overall terrible user experience for a year and a half with two phones. I know we're only really two years into development but how much longer do we have to wait for a finished product that I don't have to keep making excuses for? More to the point WTF is going on with the boot loader on my phone and how do I fix it?

I have a Droid and download many random apps. Many of them run and I kill them often to not have a laggy performance but it still happens quite a bit. I get many random force closes from all kinds of apps.
Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).

I'll start by saying I have been reading these forums for quite awhile. The information on here was what swayed me toward purchasing my DX, and I thank you for that as the phone has been great.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced pretty severe lagging with the stock media player as it has been happening to me quite often lately.
I will be listening to an album and not using the phone otherwise, then I will try to switch to another application and everything will freeze. The music will stop, occasionally a black screen appears and no buttons work.
The result is usually a battery pull.... This has happened to me twice already today, so I wanted to see if others have experienced the same thing with the media player, and if it is the media player that's the culprit, perhaps recommend an alternative.

It seems like every morning when I unplug my phone LauncherPro seems to not respond and force close. Are there certain memory settings I should be using to prevent this?Also, when LPP DOES force close, there's no way to get out of it. If I click "Force close" instead of "wait", it will just reload my default homescreen, but then force close again. It's an endless loop!

Ok one of the weirdest things happened just now. I switched back to UD 8 last night just cause. I had on BB 0.5 b4 if that matters. I didn't wipe data or cache either (Don't know if that matters or not). So for some reason both launcher pro and android system force closed. So I went to UD settings and put fix permissions. I then switched to ADW Launcher to see if that helped.
That helped for a little while but while i was in a call a few minutes later I press the home button and it doesn't even work!!! I pressed back until I hopefully went back to the homescreen. It first of all never went back to the homescreen and second of all just stayed in the browser and another note is that while I tried to go home it didn't work but when I held the home button it showed my recent apps.
So I did a battery pull and all it did was stay in the boot animation for almost ten minutes. Now I just have the battery out to let the droid cool down. The CPU was getting pretty hot. Was this just an overheat or did my droid just flip out on me. Would like to know if something similar to this has happened to anyone else for future reference. I know I'm definitely not bricked but what would be the right steps to get back to my normal droid.
edit: all of this happened after I put the sense theme, keyboard, and revolution theme onto my sdcard. While the files were on my laptop they gave my laptop the blue screen of death. I found these files in another thread on this site. Could they be killer files set out to kill any device that they are on. Perhaps. But idk what to do still.

I know there have been a lot of things said on this forum, and others, about blackdroid good and bad. That being said we all flash different Rom's because we want to see whats new and what fits us best. I have tried Ultimate Droid 5.0 (ERE25 Base) and it is very smooth with no FC's and runs extremely fast. Please dont turn this thread into a back and forth because that was not the reason I wanted to post this. I also want to give major props to ChevyNo1 for his amazing kernel (that my phone likes woo hoo). I know we all at this point have flashed many roms but I believe this is what I will stay with until something amazing comes out (senceUI, Flash....). Props to all the Developers for their hard work and giving us the many choices we have. I'm looking for blackdroids ultimate droid ROM. Specifically version 4.0.1. The newer versions have some features I'm not really interested in. All of the links I've found don't seem to work If anyone has a working link to his ROM's that would be great. I've looked everywhere though and I did find one site with links to his stuff, but got a 404 not found error on all of them.

I switched back to Ultimate Droid 1.0.0 but not through nandroid. Just a start over. So for some reason I can install everything back except Angry Birds. I know that is really bad luck. Any app but angry birds. So I have tried all the ways I can think of. Through the market, downloaded from getjar and install through Astro, and I have put it in the system application folder through root explorer. Also tried installing through root explorer. And Angry Birds lite won't install either.

I just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?

As soon as I saw that AD had released ESE53, I made a post about it in BD's U5.5 thread over at Droid Forums.His complaint? That he was getting no sleep last night.The result? Ultimate Droid 6.0 (ESE53 Base) - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum.He says the new launcher in ESE53 is sick, so I am gonna check it out right now.
