Motorola Droid :: Had Handcent / Switched To ChompSMS / Back To Handcent
Jan 22, 2010when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent.But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

Nov 14, 2009I have a question about handcent sms application. Whenever I get sms via standard message program, my trackball lights up. However, when I'm using handcent sms notification, it would not light up. I have turned the trackball light on in the settings, but it does not work. Does anyone else have this problem?

May 16, 2010I used this app on my original Motorola Droid and loved it, but I have noticed some problems with it on the Incredible. I'm wondering if it's just me or if anyone else has had these problems as well.
1. LED Light does not change color. No matter what color I set the LED light to in the Handcent app, it always just blinks green. This isn't necessarily a huge deal, but I liked having my text messages blink a different color than my emails and other notifications.
2. LED light does not always blink and screen does not turn on. I noticed that the LED light only flashes once in a while, no matter what type of blink setting I choose. Also, the screen does not turn on when I get a text even though I have the box checked that is supposed to enable the screen to turn on despite having the popup box disabled. Once again, not a huge deal, but it would be nice if these things worked since I got used to these features on the Droid.
3. Phone does not vibrate at all when in Vibrate mode. Ok, this one is a huge deal. No matter which vibrate settings I choose, the phone will not vibrate when I receive a text if the phone is in vibrate mode. I am missing tons of texts now because I need to have my phone silent for most of the day. I checked the recent reviews of the app and didn't see anyone complain about this, so I don't know if there is just something wrong with my phone or if the app just isn't very compatible with the Incredible.

Motorola Droid :: Keyboard Doesn't Light Up
Dec 10, 2009Besides the lagging on the browser which most people are experiencing it seems that the physical keyboard light on mine is having an issue if i restart my phone and slide it out it doesn't light up..in order for it to light up i have to hit the power button to turn the screen off then if i turn it back on or just slide the keyboard out the lights work

I've managed to change the indicator light color for handcent sms, but I've had no luck digging through the menus for any other options. It seems that the light is capable of multiple colors. Oct 22, 2010I've been running UD 1.0.0 since the day it dropped, when I installed it I was on vacation and wasn't using my droid much other then playing around with the setting and some internet browsing, like all good things my vacation came to a end at work my phone is used all day texting, incoming and out going calls all day, listening to my scanner app. That's when I found out UD 1.0.0 wasn't going to work for me, I have two batteries and by the end of the work day ( 8-12 hrs) one battery would be dead and the other down to 20%.
I tried different kernels, running only the basic's (no GPS, no WiFi no background light) still got the same results. UD 1.0.0 is a great ROM, but it just doesn't gel with my droid. So I'm back to UD 8.0 with slayher's 1100 kernel set at 800 mhz (1380 quadrant)and the Black N Bold theme running smooth and fast with no problems at all. Best thing is after 8-12 hrs of phone use texting and listening to my scanner I still come home with 20% - 40% battery without even using the spare.
Motorola Droid :: Green Blinking Indicator Light
Apr 17, 2010Anyone else notice that the green indicator light is blinking in a different spot? Don't think it's a big deal, maybe it's from the update. I really only noticed it b/c there's a cutout for the light on my Zagg skin and this new light placement is not in the cutout.
