Motorola Droid X :: Download Different Keyboards
Sep 6, 2010I want to download the htc keyboard, is there a way to do that without downloading better keyboard from the market?
View 28 RepliesI want to download the htc keyboard, is there a way to do that without downloading better keyboard from the market?
View 28 RepliesI am trying to find more information on the available soft keyboards for the Droid. The standard one that comes with the phone is simply awful, I only used the pull out keyboard. A few weeks ago I discovered the HTC IME keyboard and fell in love with it. Unfortunately with the new update it appears that that keyboard no longer works (force closes). Was hoping to pull together a list of available keyboards and what all of you think of them. Currently I am trying SwiftKey which is alright but not perfect. I miss HTC's prediction capabilities. But for now anything is better than the basic one.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried better keyboard but it isn't multi touch i was wondering if there is a 3rd party keyboard similar to the stock keyboard that supports multi touch. Coming from iphone it would greatly help my on screen keyboard usage, as the hardware keyboard is awful IMHO.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor all you guys out there who like taking themes to the max, I was tipped to this website by Android Forums - View Profile: incrediblenotinstock

You will want to jump over to Xda here : [url] nd pick up the high res v27 for froyo if your on froyo the other if you are not and pick up that zip. You will need the clicker hi apk from that zip if you want to adjust the settings for the keyboard.
I didn't create this website or any of the themes there All credit goes to those that did. I just wanted to share with the community. Its very easy and a straight forward process and it creates a QR code (which I never got to work) and a download link to dl the apk and side load it like you would any other app. If you already have the htc.ime keyboard installed, you will want to uninstall it first. It does hold a lot of memory (around 11mb in running processes for me) but it doesn't lag. It also isn't multi touch, but I have found typing very fluid for me.
So I love typing on this huge screen, but here is my question: Is there a way to use different keyboards based on orientation? I like SWYPE in portrait, but multi-touch in landscape.
Also, with the after market keyboards available on the market (ie better keyboard), who has tried them, who likes them, and most importantly why (layout, skins, auto correct, etc)?
I installed the Swype keyboard however there are times I want to use the default keyboard. Is there any way to switch between keyboards quickly without having to go to the settings?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs this possible?? i really enjoy using swype for text messages, but hate trying to use it in the browser. i have multiple keyboards installed, but can't seem to find a way to use different ones for different things.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAny body else with BB7.5 not able to install the updates to Better Keyboard and 'Talk to Me' keyboard?I bought both of them before I rooted don't use either for swype and the 2.1 keyboard.Ever since I installed BB7.5, I've noticed I cannot install the update. It downloads, tries to install and then gives me an error message saying that Installation failed. When I click on the notification it tells me "Insufficient storage available" This seems to only happen with these two keyboards and other apps install fine. The directory in question is data/apps and I have 136 MB free in ROM.Any ideas anyone? Am I the only one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to download mp3 files from my file server onto my Droid. Everytime I try to download a song I get the error message Download Unsuccessful. I thought it was a problem with my server but all of my computers can download from it, and I just went and got my mom's Droid ERIS to test. It could successfully download mp3 files from the server. This is ridiculous, why wouldn't my Droid be able to download these files but the ERIS can? Is this a case of Droid DOESN'T?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there any swype-like keyboards that are free? I read that the shape writer is great but it's not in the market, and I downloaded slide-it but that's only a demo.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have Swype installed on my Eris, which I love for texting, but I would rather use the stock HTC keyboard when using the browser. Is there any way to set it so that the browser automatically defaults to the HTC keyboard, and text messages default to Swype? I looked around in all the settings and didn't find anything.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am using a mixture of thick buttons, vlingo, and touch input. All suck but touch input has the least lag. So frustrated that the swype version I loved so much has closed. I am having withdrawals from swype and this is my therapy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently tried pairing the Freedom Pro bluetooth keyboard with an Eris, it's what brought me to these forums; subsequent searches didn't show conclusive answers so I thought I would share some trial and error:
-They don't pair. (Edit, 5/13/10: They might pair, scroll to bottom for updated info)
As of the date of this posting, the Eris (Both Android 1.5 and the leaked 2.1, v3) will not connect to the device using: The manufacturer's Android driver, the Keypro bluetooth driver, or the BlueInput Android driver.I've read where other Android phones have had some success with the keyboard through whatever available drivers, the Eris does not share this success. It executes to the manufacturer's directions until the "connect" step is available; a connection never occurs although the device is recognized.I could be wrong. There could be a missed and critical step to the process, but then, it wasn't listed in any available instructions. My impression, confirmed by a very few scattered comments elsewhere on the internet: It doesn't work.
1. Can anyone suggest a keyboard proven to pair with the Eris? Are there any usable arrangements for full keyboards/external keyboards known to work with this phone?
2. Has anyone else attempted to use this keyboard with an Eris or other device? Confirm my disappointment or blatant omissions?
Long time lurker, first time poster here. As a brand new andoid fan, I've learned a lot from everyone here and now I would love to get help for my problem. I have downloaded lots of apps, but now there seems to be a problem. When I click to download, nothing happens, and then an orange triangle appears with the words "download was unsuccessful, please try again." I have tried all of the suggestions out there, removing and replacing the battery and SIM card, turning Wifi off and back on, logging out of Google Talk (although I seem to be automatically logged back in w/out doing anything), using 2G, 3G and Wifi.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if this is available for download or where i might possibly get it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed much better download speeds since updating to the most recent 2.2 leak (same as the OTA) even though i dont have the new radio. i rarely (if ever) got above 1Mbps. now i've been hovering anywhere between 1.8 and 2.0. i'm very happy about this. before, i was around 600-800k. Where is everyone else? I'm curious about how speeds are in different parts of the country, and if you have before/after results.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an email with a link to a pdf file. When I click the link, its starts the download process, but then hangs at a white screen. I notice the first word in the web address is "secure", such as www.secure.anything.com. The same link opens flawlessly on a dinc, but won't open on an X. Is there some security setting that needs to be changed?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI missed the beta time a long while ago. Is there any place I could get a working version of swype now? Its so much easier typing on it than the normal keyboard.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo with at&t you can't download apps and podcasts over their network if they are over 10mb, so how about with Verizon?

Fission 2.0.1 Available to download for Droid X. Looks like a good one.
I do not take credit for this Rom only sharing the information. Great ROM. I keep trying Rubix and Apex and keep coming back.
Team Defuse for your hard work and great ROM.

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING ON THIS FRONT PAGE CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING.
If you are coming from any ROM besides Fission then SBF before you install this.

Do NOT clog thread with posts like "how can I find SBF" If you take 2 minutes to look around you will find it.

DO NOT INSTALL ANY THEMES FOR THIS ROM UNLESS THEY ARE MADE FOR FISSION 2.0. THAT EVEN INCLUDES THEMES FOR FISSION < 2.0. Almost all apps are different and are Android 2.2.1 versions.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the whole "android" experience; coming over from Sprint using a Palm Pre. Question: I have XM on my vehicle and I have unlimited internet usage on my Droid. If I download the XM radio app to my droid, is there a fee for usage for that app? I noticed it was not in the market.
Also, I've never purchased an app before in the market. Does that get billed to your phone account or can you have it directed to a credit card?
I was looking through RomManager and found where it gives me the option to download SuperUser 2.3. Should I do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm running BB .4 and I have been trouble downloading the one app that I actually have paid for. Decided to buy it last night and it froze on download so I cancled it and restarted it. It went from authorizing to downloading to Download unsuccessful.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRooted my droid X using the one click method, and since doing that I can't download ANYTHING from the android marketplace. all that happens is that I get the orange triangle icon in the task bar that says "Program A" can't download.
I have 'unrooted' my phone using the same method and nothing seems to help. I also read that there was a link to google talk and that I would need to log into google talk's app and it would be fixed. Well, google talk won't let me log in, says it can't connect.
Note that all other Internet features, and google voice still work great. Any ideas?
A friend sent me a mp3 via mms, can someone tell me how to download it from the mms? It plays but there doesn't seem to be an option to save it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running RM v2.0.2.5 and when I try to download a new ROM, it gets most of the way through, then stops. Is there anyway to resume the downloading?? I've tried different ROMs with the same issue. Currently, I've downloaded SS 4.7 with the Watermark'd theme, and the ROM downloaded, but Watermark'd is stuck at 2%. Before that, CM6 stable got all the way to 95% then just sat there...
View 8 Replies View RelatedAny idea where to get a download of RSD Lite 4.6?
EVERY link i have found on here leads to NOTHING..
Need to unroot and i cant find it anywhere.. and 4.5.3 will not find my droid. (am using windows 7) not sure if that is a reason but the unroot guide on here calls for 4.6.
I just downloaded this from my rooted phone and here you go guys. I recommend waiting for a cooked zip as it messes with the recovery and bootloader just from looking at the zip file.
