Motorola Droid :: Google Navigation Searching For GPS
Nov 6, 2009When trying to use the Google Navigation app it just displays "searching for gps." at the bottom of the screen and never locks in on my location. In the location and security settings both "use wireless networks" and "use gps satellites" are checked.Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the phone?

Aug 3, 2010I am trying to use the navigation function of the Droid X, but when I go to navigate to a location, it just sits at searching for GPS and never gets a signal. Now if I open Maps it shows my location almost instantly.

Apr 4, 2010Navigation has been working great since I got the phone in November. Starting yesterday the phone gets stuck on "SEARCHING FOR GPS." It's so odd - because it goes through the whole FROM, TO and even gives me the summary - 5.2 miles to destination etc.
Then it can't find the GPS? I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling the last App I installed (which was handscent SMS). Could an app update have killed it? I think Yelp & Astro Manager recently had updates.

Sep 22, 2010The last week or so, I've noticed that the GPS on my phone starts trying to locate where I am without a program prompting it to do anything. I had just left the gps on, so it would be ready for maps/etc. Is there a way to tell which program is accessing it? My understanding was that you could leave the gps switched on with the droid x because it would not actually use it, unless a program called for it.

Jun 16, 2010I've noticed within the past month or two my Eris has been having a hard time searching for a gps signal. I'm on the Leak v.3. Sometimes it takes a matter of a min to lock on other times much longer, and this past weekend I had an indecent where it never found the signal for about a 1/2hr or more.

It's basically the various word suggestions from my previous search. Note, I am using Better Keyboard. Not sure if this is a BK bug or not.

Plus I would like to be able to control what he can play. Sep 24, 2010Maybe it's just me but using the slider everytime you use your phone seems rediculous. I downloaded an app that allows you to disable the lock so now when I press the home button my screen pops up and is ready to use. Once the screen goes to black it is basically locked until you press the home key again. Granted I don't use any password protection and don't have sensitive data on my phone so why use the slider?

Nov 13, 2010Well if you use widget locker, and a security lock, Froyo Forces you to: Unlock widget locker lock screen, then undo the lock screen, then enter your security code. However with Android Eclair 2.1, there is an option to turn off the screen lock. From my understanding, if you had the lock-screen disabled when you do the update, it will remain disabled after the OTA. However there is no longer any way to enable it because Google removed the option. As most people would find that bad, it should allow me to use widgetlocker, and a security lock without having to unlock the screen twice. Or of course, just use widget locker, as I have no intention of going back to the stock lock screen.

May 22, 2010My Droid was great, used Google Maps constantly for several months. The past several days, it started losing GPS signal lock, and today can't get a lock after half an hour with clear sky above. I have "GPS Status" app, and it shows that it is receiving signal from between 5 and 8 satellites, but none of them show as locked. Any ideas? I have already rebooted the phone, removed battery, etc. multiple times. I have turned off wifi and bluetooth with no effect.

Nov 17, 2010I have a Droid X. I was previously employed by a company that used Exchange Server and Active Sync and I added my company email account to the Droid X. This forced me to use a 4 digit pin as required by the mail admin of the company. I no longer work for this company, and deleted the active sync account from my phone (and no longer have access to it by any means). The security settings for the PIN. When I check SETTINGS -> LOCATION & SECURITY -> CHANGE SCREEN LOCK -> CHANGE SCREEN LOCK the options, "None" and "Pattern" are grayed out and not selectable. When I look under SETTINGS -> LOCATION & SECURITY ->SELECT DEVICE ADMINISTRATORS the device administrator is listed a "Corporate Sync" and I cannot change or delete this.

Dec 4, 2009Is there any way to lock the ringer volume? I keep my phone on vibrate always. well, I try to, but sometimes I hit the volume button on accident and it would be nice to not have to adjust it. Not only do I not want the phone to ring, but I don't want it to not vibrate (all the way down). Also, I still don't always understand when I can adjust other volumes, like Media Volume. Sometimes I start an app or music and the volume is too loud. It seems like sometimes I can't adjust the volume till after it starts playing.

I really don't like the little button on the Droid as a "lock" Now that I have added a skin to the phone, that button is even worse. Does anyone know of an App that would put a "Lock" icon/widget on my home screen? As an added bonus, if it had some kind of "shake to wake" (but not unlock) that would make it a "money app" for me.
