OK, got 2.2 and loving it, etc, HOWEVER...my texts come into my list and even if it is the most recent received, it will be down the list a few spots. How do I get the new texts to show up on top of my text list?

I have a gmail account. I have My Verizon and Backup Assistant but what will I have to do beyond activating it?
I'm hoping I can accomplish this after buying the X on line as my corp. store charges $50.00 more than on line which is another thread/question.
I placed my DINC order Monday and was completely content until my coworker just walked in w/ his Droid X this morning. My biggest qualm beforehand was the size, but now that I hold it in my hands it's not so bad.I've never had an Android device but everyone tells me HTC Sense will blow me away. I need you all to convince me that the X will blow me away (if you do I'll swing by after work and cancel the DINC order and grab a Droid X). I'm not worried about specs and stuff, just user interface. What can I expect to get with the X?

You will have the opportunity to switch your order to a Droid X. This is huge news. Inc is slated to be shipped until end of the month first of next month. So whos going to swtich? If the review is as great as Inc. Consider me gone! Im going with the Droid X.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally got around to putting some music files on the phone, sounds great, but the player plays the tracks of an album in alphabetical order, not in normal track order. Does anyone know of a solution to this? Right now all my music files (28 gigs worth) are wma files....could this be the problem? I want to convert all of them to mp3, anyone know of a quick way to do this. I know there are several programs I can use to do this, it just sounds rather time consuming. Hoping someone might have some tip for quick conversion.

I've never had this problem with iTunes or iPhone, but with Droid X, all of my MP3 albums are ordered in this way. (FYI, the issue is the same if it's an actual MP3 or AAC format.)
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is my first "smartphone" although I have used a corporate Blackberry and I have used a Palm for many years. I've had this phone for about a month now. While the hardware is ok, the software for critical functions (Calendar, Contacts, Notepad, and Music) absolutely sucks!
1. I do not want to use Google/Gmail for my calendar and contacts. I don't know about any of you, but I do not feel comfortable having my confidential contact and calendar information sitting on the internet in Google. The company I work for even has a block on Google contacts & Gmail because it is not secure and fraught with potential for virus. I want a way to sync calander, contacts and notepad directly from my PC to my phone. Unfortunately, this can't be done. I've tried Companion Link. Besides the fact that it cost $39, I can't even get it to work. This type of functionality should be a basic part of a smartphone. Iphones do it. Blackberry's do it. Palm Pre does it. Why not the Droid?
2. Music - I have been trying to figure out a way that music synced to the Droid will play in the proper order. The Droid will only play music in Alphabetical order. I can't find a way to play music in Track # order. I have been on the phone with Motorola for hours. Finally got to Level 2 tech support. They told me that it cannot be done. How stupid is this? Try listening to a Broadway Show album in alphabetical order! Right now I feel if you just want a fancy toy, buy a Droid. If you want a real "smartphone" look somewhere else.
Coming from a Iphone to the X the music player is a little lacking. Often I will go into a certain artist and want to play all the songs by that artist, or thumb through all their songs to find a certain one. On the stock music player on the X this seems hard to do (maybe I'm missing something).
if I pull up the music by artist and select a certain artist then it shows me all their albums (The iphone has the option at this point to select all albums and see all the songs of that artist in alphabetical order). The X doesn't give a option to select all albums at this point. If I go to artists and long press on a certain artist I can select play and it will start playing all that artists songs, then I can hit pause and go into the list from that point to see all the songs but they seem to be in a random order making it hard to find a specific song.
I've tried a couple other players and haven't been able to find one that functions like the Iphone, makes it hard to quickly find one song.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Facebook mobile site and the News Feed never comes up current with the newest listed first then descending. No matter how I refresh, or if I hit 'Home' or the actual "News' button. It randomly scatters them (differently each time I try to refresh). I tried the FB app that came with the phone as well - and the same thing happens. I've cleared cache, rebooted, and yet nothing seems to help. On my computer and laptop, the most recent are always listed first.
Is this common? Does anyone else have this problem? I've been watching the forum for quite some time to see if anyone else posted this problem and haven't seen anything yet......
It can't seem to play a video smoothly without pausing. Slows my phone tremendously when videos are playing. Is there a specific format required or something?

(This is a value that the user will not change all that often, so it would be helpful if when they do set it, it stays set when they come back to it).

If I run the program without this statement, it works fine and the value saves to the db. As soon as I try to run it with this, I get a force close. Any suggestions?
Has anyone been able to order an EVO online. It seems as soon as I get to the checkout it says that my credit card is not valid. Anyone else getting this issue. I checked and all the info is correct.

Get a "Everything data family" plan
Get 3 new EVOs
Activate only 1 EVO, other 2 family members are non-technical, couldn't care less about gadgets and want to keep their old phones they know how to use
Sell 2 brand new in-box EVOs on ebay for about $500 each (that price might go down as supply increases, but still should be a nice profit over the $199 I'll pay for the phones)
De-activate the $10/mo 4G surcharge on the other 2 lines
Of course I'll be committed to a 2-year contract on the "Everything data family" plan and the other 2 lines will make minimal use of the data, but it's still a lot cheaper to do it this way than to create a new individual plan for the EVO and keep the basic family plan for the other 2 phones.
I am using the bookmarks widget, list view. I like it but would like to change the order the bookmarks appear. I did not any options for doing so. Is there a way to do this?

View 21 Replies View RelatedThis is why I hate buying anything at Radio Shack, they pretty much make the majority of their people act like used car salesman. I went in and said I wanted to pre order the Evo to which the sales clerk tried to tell me I should get the iPhone 3gs. Seriously dude? So then I explain why I don't want an iPhone and the reasons I want the Evo. Listing multiple reasons making it obvious I have done my research and am not a n00b around phones. So what does this guy do? He asks me if I've seen a picture of the phone...now this was done because he was actually trying to be helpful and explain the size. But duh of course I've seen the phone if I know that much about it. I was even able to complete the sentence he was making about it being the size of the HD2. So anyways after trying to talk me out of it and then asking me those questions, he then tells me how he got to play with one the other day and it was amazing. Now if it was so amazing why were you trying to talk me out of it?
This leads me to another point. I then asked how the pre orders were going. At first he said they were great, then made some back handed comment about Best Buy doing better because they get more people. Which on one hand is probably true, but maybe it's because when you walk in you aren't upselled down your throat to buy every little thing in the store or told you should get something you don't want. I am dreading having to go in and for them to convince me I need some added on warranty through them when I already have insurance through Sprint. Then the guy asks my girlfriend (who has an iPhone) where she got her iPhone. She tells him the AT&T store, and then guilts her about it. WTF? Why do you think we went to the AT&T store? Because she is with AT&T. When I need stuff done for a existing phone with the company I am on I go to the Sprint store, not Radio Shack AKA The Shack AKA Wanted to sound hip so we copied KFC but it's not working.
The worst part of all of this, is this guy was just genuinely trying to do his job, which is a problem with management and the chain all together. They put so much pressure on these guys to "sell sell sell" that they end up scaring off customers. Of course this one incident is not indicitive of all Radio Shacks and I'm sure there are good people, in fact I had a good experience buying an HD Reciever there for an old T.V. The employee was nice and actually stopped me from buying a more expensive unit, then because he had to try to get me to do the warranty, he then whispered about how I didn't need it so I should just say no. That actually made tell a friend to go get the same one at Radio Shack that I had. However when someone asks about buying a Evo my first instinct will be to go to Best Buy or Sprint.
Ok Rant over. Now the numerous edits to correct my sloppy typing because I'm at the beach and too lazy to look it over.
I also should add I asked about the mini HDMI cable for the 20$ accessory since he kept shoving that down my throat as to why I was smart to pick Radio Shack (I wanted to tell him the truth that I was afraid Best Buy was out of pre orders). He said they didn't have them but would. I then mentioned how I probably wouldn't buy one there since the official ones would be like 30 dollars and I could get one online for 8. His response was it was practically the same price since I got 20 bucks free. Fair enough, but still not gonna happen dude. I assured him I would spend the 20 bucks and he needn't worry, but the HDMI cable was not in my future through Radio Shack.
I called tech support because of the numerous issues I've been having with my Inc (sound issues, in call sound dropping out with call still in progress, pink screen, unresponsive screen, weird lock ups, etc.).They told me I wouldn't get a replacement until July 19.I finally told her to order it but after much work, the system wouldn't let her order it at all.She got really flustered and finally got tired of messing with it and transferred me to tech support.Fortunately, I was transferred to a really helpful tech who really understanding.She also tried unsuccessfully to order it.She out the next two days but is having a coworker follow up and she will continue to help me sort it out if it isn't already by Wednesday.So we'll see what happens.One way or another she's promised to get me a working phone though I don't know if it will be an Inc.Just thought folks might find it interesting that at the moment, it can't be ordered internally.
