I love my HTC ERIS so much. Does anyone know how to order the contacts from "First name, Last name" to "Last Name, First Name"? I need to change all my contacts names around, I am looking for a 'check mark' box to change the orientation.

I want all my contacts consistent - last name, first name. But When the phone consolidated everyone from Outlook, Facebook, and Google (about 800 people, everything is all screwed up and inconsistent. Is there a way to fix that without having to manually open and edit each contact not in the correct order?

My dad just got a Fascinate over the weekend. (I have the Captivate).When he enters a new contact, it displays Firstname, Lastname. All of his contacts are displayed that way. On the Fascinate, how do you change the display order to Lastname, Firstname? I know how to do it on my Captivate.can't find the option on the Fascinate.

The order of the messages stored is not as it should be...my sent message(First sent) is stored after the received one(later received)..I have tried putting my own time instead of the automatic network time still the problem continues..

I want my wife at the top of the list & would like to be able to re-sort the list as I find who I communicate with most often, but it seems to just display them in the order that you make them favourites. Most recent at the top.
I don't want to have to clear my favourites and then start again every time I wan't to change it.
I added some of my contacts to my favorites thinking I could change the order they appear in like you can on the iPhone. It doesn't appear this is possible. Is that something I'm missing or an app that can do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.
Use Picture Viewer to read e-books and such... Well, try to. It seems it does show the files in order? By that, I mean alphabetically by filename. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Facebook mobile site and the News Feed never comes up current with the newest listed first then descending. No matter how I refresh, or if I hit 'Home' or the actual "News' button. It randomly scatters them (differently each time I try to refresh). I tried the FB app that came with the phone as well - and the same thing happens. I've cleared cache, rebooted, and yet nothing seems to help. On my computer and laptop, the most recent are always listed first.
Is this common? Does anyone else have this problem? I've been watching the forum for quite some time to see if anyone else posted this problem and haven't seen anything yet......
I'm looking to flash again... right after I loaded all of the market applications that I love onto the phone.
I apologize if this is a trivial question; I'm not yet all that familiar w/ the program management on the android. But what I would like to be able to do is create a directory (be it on the sdcard, my laptop, etc) and store the install files for all of the apps that I install on this phone after every flash. This would save a tremendous amount of time bringing the phone back up to usable status after a flash. And the cat's meow would be if the configurations for these apps could be backup locally as well. Similar to a ~/.name_of_application/ directory on a linux box.
I'm poking around the file system right now, and not finding anything obvious. Would these be the files out of /system/bin?
It can't seem to play a video smoothly without pausing. Slows my phone tremendously when videos are playing. Is there a specific format required or something?

However she now needs to return the phone for service (silent call bug) and she went to G mail to ensure all her contacts was backed up... they are not. It seems the contacts are stored on her phone (Eris) and not in g mail. How can we import all of her contacts from the phone memory into G mail?

I don't want to do the .csv backup and all that just sync all Phone and Google contacts to Google. The reason is because when Verizon transfers your numbers, they get saved as Phone contacts but from what I understand,the update only re-syncs your Google contacts.So is there a quick/easy way to do this?She is not very tech-savvy.I just want to make sure she does this before she upgrades,so she doesn't lose all of her phone numbers.

In call history, I clicked the little file picture and added their name, saved it as a google contact, and saved it. If I go to People, the name doesnt appear. So I went to the People app, entered their info, made it a google contact, saved. Still didnt work. Even manually synced my google account. So then I changed the "view" to show every option and slowly ticked off each box til I realized that only if "show auto gmail contacts" is ON does my new contact appear. It was also "linked" to 3 other contacts (the same one that I kept adding over and over wondering why it wasnt appearing). So, of course I do NOT want everyone I've ever e-mailed in my contact list, so the question is, how can I add/save any contacts and make them appear in People?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone to the latest ROM using the script in the stickied thread. My google contacts re-synced when the phone started, and all was fine. I then proceeded to make a few edits to my contacts. That's when I noticed that they were disappearing from my "people" list. I can still pull them up by typing the name on the dialer screen, and I can still send email to them, but they just don't show up on the list. This also happens with newly-created contacts. I've tried forcing a manual sync, rbooting, editing the contacts through gmail on my computer, and nothing has worked.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSorry about the new post but I have been searching all day and haven't found one that's what I need. I had to get a replacement for my eris due to trackball issues. I got my replacement today and can't seem to get my contacts onto the new phone. The one thing that I have been able to find out is that I should have saved all of my contacts as Google contacts. I tried using Lookout and was able to transfer my pictures, but only 5 contacts (the only google contacts I have). I also tried MyBackUp but it is asking me for a pin number it never gave me. I downloaded vCardIO and exported my contacts to the sd card, but now when I put the sd card into the new phone it says that there is NOTHING on it, none of my documents- nothing. Is there any way I can change all my contacts to Google contacts? I don't know what else to do, so any help would be appreciated.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my Eris last night. My google contacts synch'd up fine. The problem is the export from Outlook to Google didn't carry over all the data. I have deleted all my contacts on google and was hoping the Eris would synch and delete as well. However, the contacts remain on the phone. Is there a way, other than a factory reset to delete all the contacts on the phone.

It says to do a factory reset. Will this purge/delete any contacts that were entered as "phone" (versus "Google")? I have several contacts, from work, that I entered as phone. I'm looking for a way to back everything up. Looked through the sd card files and didn't see anything. I ran ContactSync app from the market, said it would move all contacts from "Phone" to "Google," on the actual phone it did, but when I check Google contacts directly, they don't exist. Is there a manual method to create a .csv file from everyone in the phone to have a more tangible backup copy? I've tried doing HTC Sync, but the program seems like trash. It doesn't connect to the eris and no way of forcing it to look for the phone. Tried running with USB debug on/off, and sd card mounted/nonmounted.

Some have resynced from Facebook and Gmail, but a great deal of them are still missing including numbers I didnt have synced to FB or Gmail. The numbers are still associated with text messages in messaging app and Handcent, but all contact info has been lost on most of them. Is there any way to get my lost contacts back or are they gone forever?
