Aug 20, 2010I know just got the 2.2 OTA and now his messaging app is completely gone. He can't send or receive any SMS or MMS. And the app isn't on the market.

Motorola Droid :: APK For 2.1 Messaging Application?
Jun 8, 2010Well I recently installed Nexfro. I like it a lot. No complaints Fabulous did a great job. However the 2.2 messaging app. I can't stand it and I loved the 2.1 messaging app (enough to just go back to 2.1 if I can't get it) so I was wondering if anyone could give me the .apk file so I could manually install it on my droid. Please and thanks . I'd do this myself, but I don't know how.

Jun 11, 2010I don't know if I'm the only one who doesn't like the new stock Froyo messaging app (I doubt I am) but is there any way to switch out the new one with the old one. Personally I loved the old stock messaging app and I would LOVE to have it back. I know there's the whole issue of it not being compatible but if anyone has gotten it to work I would love to know. I don't want to have to go back to Handcent.

Sep 3, 2010The reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?

Sep 20, 2010I installed the updated GalaX theme and it brought in a new messaging app that is similar to the cyanogen sms app. However it corrects the time stamp but I get 2 messages for every received sms one at the correct time and one and the 4 or 5 hour off time. Can I remove the motorola sms application or rename it? Anyone know what that is?

In the 2.1 app it simply showed my name and the other persons name; no pic of us next to every text. Is there anyway to disable showing the pics in the 2.2 app? Really don't see the need to have a pic next to each text.

Nov 18, 2009I have a Droid and download many random apps. Many of them run and I kill them often to not have a laggy performance but it still happens quite a bit. I get many random force closes from all kinds of apps.
Problem:
Steps to Create force close everytime in Messaging:
1. Compose new message
2. Type in "D"
3. Type in "A"
4. *Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped (no wait button to choose)
Once A is typed it always force closes (40 times in a row).

Oct 1, 2010I have a rooted DroidX and made the mistake of removing a few system apps, including Messaging.apk. Now I open the text message application and it closes right away. I tried copying package dumps (from another thread somewhere) to /system/apps/ and installing them, but I get a "Application not Installed" message. How can I get the phone to reinstall these applications?

Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Feb 3, 2010I know we're getting 5 homescreens in 2.1. still no idea when we'll get that update! last I heard Motorola was in their final testing phase and at that Nexus One conference the head of Moto said the same.. within a few days it should have been ported. Har har we all knew that wasn't happening that quick. I've got my 3 homescreens maxed, and I really would like to use a homescreen app to have more. I don't want to sacrifice stability and I don't need crazy features, I'm simply looking to just go up to 5-7 screens so I can test some larger widgets out in the meantime. I just changed to using Handcent SMS instead of the default messaging app and i cannot find out how to stop the notifications from the default messager app, because now it shows 2 notifications, one for each app, and select them, it will take me to the message, but i'll have to manually clear the notifications. Sep 16, 2010Recently trying to send a text to my wife I got this error back as a text from myself: "Message Delivered to XXXXXXXXXX as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced messaging service."
I've never received this message before. A quick google search told me it was because the message was over 160 characters, but on my old phone it would automatically split the message up into multiple texts. I can't be sure if I've sent a text with 160+ characters n my droid before.
Motorola Droid :: Black Messaging Froyo App?
Jul 2, 2010Is there just an apk I can install of a themed black Messaging app? I don't want a whole theme, I actually like the stock, but I prefer the Msg app to be black like Fab's NexBeast/Fro since it's what I use most and the bright white gets annoying at night.
