View 13 RepliesIn a current thread, a forum member asked if there was a way to disable data. Putting my search skills to the test, I found the method ... and a whole lot more. This is really cool stuff. (I thought it was worthy of it's own thread.)
- Open dialer
- Dial *#*#4636#*#*
- Tap on 'Phone Information'
- Press Menu button
- Tap on More
- Tap Disable data connection (Or, Disable data on boot.)
Simply reverse the steps to re-enable your data connection either immediately, or after your next reboot. There's a whole lot more to checkout while you in there.Just be careful. You don't want to screw up anything.
There has been a lot of discussion on Engadget about whether the soft keyboard has multi-touch. Engadget insists no, and Rob here insists yes.I think I discovered where the problem lies. Josh at Engadget was saying that you had to release one key before pressing another or they would not both register. Rob said in his review that you COULD press them at the same time and both would register. I think I found out that both are right.I did some experimenting and would love to see whether others come to the same conclusion. It seems that when the keys are far enough apart (more than a couple of keys away), then you can, indeed, press the second before the first is released and they both register.BUT, if the keys are close to each other, it will not do this. You have to release one key before pressing the other.I think this must be to avoid accidentally hitting two keys with one finger. So, whether you think this is a good feature or too much babysitting of our typing abilities, it does seem intentional.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIdk what these types of books are called but we've all seen them. the types of books where you read a few pages and then you decide what the character(s) do(es) and you turn a certain page.
basically my question is are there any apps that are like those story books?
Interesting article comparing not-our-phone to an iPhone. That in itself is an interesting comparison. What I found most interesting was the layout of the components. Not sure if it's identical in our phones as it is in the Nexus One, but it was pretty cool to see.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI talked with a VZW tech just a few minutes ago.I described her the silent bug problem on 2.1.She said she is a Droid user and her daughter has an Eris. She said she had frequent freezeup on her Droid and now she reccomends to do one reboot every day. She says she had not had a problem since she has been doing this. She made a mark on my file about my complain and recommended to try the once-a-day reboot for a week. If the problem persists, the store will issue a new phone.I will try this reboot thing each night, will see how it goes.I am a bit worried about the exchange they perhaps would give me a refurb, and what is the guarantie that I won't end up with the same problem.

Found this topic on the Droid forum. I find it pretty interesting and pretty interesting that the Eris can keep up with the Droid and that no flash isn't as big of an issue as you would think.
Might change some minds if the flash feature is something you thing is big when deciding between Eris and Droid.
I am having a issue with the news widget on the motorola droid x to where when i bring up the scroll window and start scrolling through articles, I see one that has a interesting looking title but it is to long to fit the whole title on the bar so i click on it and wait for the webpage to load only to find out it is not what i thought it was about... is there any way to get this widget to show titles in smaller font or can someone suggest another widget to collect rss feeds?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm looking for a good news widget that works good doesnt use to much battery and that had a decent sized widget not just one thats like the size of the power bar bigger then that.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI did the manual OTA update to 2.1 and once I re-setup my exchange account it enforced the security policy (no surprise there thank god for LockPicker!). The Pattern Unlock stayed as well. So I would have to pattern unlock THEN input the 4 digit alphanumeric (major PITA) So after installing lockpicker I only had to pattern unlock - no problem.
Well I've had the dreaded "no-audio" bug a couple times since upgrading so I decided to try a hard reset before pursuing a warranty replacement. This time I did the same thing, setup my Exchange account and installed LockPicker. Now I do NOT have the pattern unlock. Under Security -> Screen Unlock Pattern I only have "Change Unlock Password" and there doesn't appear to be any way to enable the Pattern unlock.
Here is where it gets interesting. My friend has an Eris as well, is on the same exchange server and got 2.1. He is in the same boat that I was PRE 2.1 upgrade where he has the pattern unlock AND the password (I hipped him to LockPicker) and is now where I was with only the Pattern Unlock. Under his Security -> Screen unlock it is the same as mine, with only "Change Unlock Password".
Now not have the pattern unlock is not the end of the world, I just liked having that small bit of security...just curious if anyone can find a way, short of another hard reset, to get Pattern Unlock back. I'm guessing that the issue is that I didn't enable pattern unlock before setting up Exchange and allowing it to enforce that security policy.
Running pete's beauty 8.6, the tech section is not in the news and weather widget...i'm sad! is it there for anyone else?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I delete news items that I've already read on my Droid X? I have almost 1000 now. Also does anyone know where I can get a flip open case that doesnt require you to remove phone to use it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was running Beast 0.1 and about 2 days ago my News and Weather widget kept saying it couldn't connect and just gave me that Retry Now option. So this morning I upgraded to the newest BB 0.2.1, and its still doing this. I've cleared the data, removed the widget and force stopped it and cleared the data again. Anyone else having this issue? I'd simply remove it but I don't really know where to get it again since its built into roms these days (I don't TiBu it)
View 18 Replies View RelatedIm just wondering if anyone has heard any recent news on when slingplayer will be released, many of us have flash now, so I'm just wondering if there has been any recent news that I'm missing out on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI doubt anyone is as excited about this as I am but with the 2.1 update, the Moto Droid has received the Nexus One News and weather app. I have been searching for something like this for along time and there were a few out there but nothing like the one that 2.1 has just given us. I know I sound like a loon but news and weather is part of my daily morning ritual and this just made it better!
View 25 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone happen to have a copy of the stock news and weather widget lying around. I really liked that widget and its not on the Rubix rom. If someone has it themed in black or with white letters that would be better. Thanks guys. Plus anyone for google search themed in black too?
View 18 Replies View RelatedHad my DX for just over a week. I have been using the built in news widget and it I actually like the interface. However when I view "all articles" unread or not it lists everything it has pulled down. There are currently 500+ items in the "all articles" and I cant seem to delete. how to remove items i have read already or at least if they will be truncated somehow.

View 13 Replies View RelatedThis morning, at random, i woke my phone up and unlocked the screen after being in my packet and the news and weather widget's grey background is gone and the news and weather is simply in white text over the top of my background. i actually like it, but just wanted to know if this was right?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I purchased my droid a month ago, all the pics on facebook for the live/news feed were showing up perfectly. About 2 weeks ago, none of the pictures display. They only have a "x" next to the update. At the bottom of my profile page, there is an option that shows: Photos: Off - On - Max. The setting is set to On.
I am able to access my photos, friends etc., but when I click on News Feed, I get "No Content. An error has occurred while fetching data. MalformedJSON". Deleted/re-installed and made no difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the first problem that I have had with my droid. Actually I dont even consider it a problem just curious if anyone else has run into this. This morning my news feed wouldnt load any of the older posts. Then I uploaded a picture this morning 12/24 and it showed the date I uploaded it was on tuesday the 22nd at 4:28 PM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i first fired up the wildfire it had the news widget on the homescreen ready to go on BBC news. I liked the fact it automatically refreshed the news every so often. Now it has stopped working via the widget. I have tried removing and reinstalling the news widget but the widget just hangs on the message 'loading news'. I can still refresh the news headlines by going into the app but it seems an unnecessary hassle when it used to do this automatically. Why and how to fix this? The phone settings all lok okay.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRang the Three call centre today to try and find out when those of us unfortunate enough to have a desire tied to a network would get 2.2, I had some quite comical conversations!
1. First gentleman (with a very English name!) stated that it was down to HTC to relase the update and when they were ready they would issue it out, told me to phone HTC no matter how much I told him he was wrong
2. Called HTC who were excellent and suggested I call Three again and reiterate to them that its down to the network provider to issue an update.
3. Second gentleman again with a very English name said I could simply download 2.2 from Android developers website and load it onto my phone, this would mean I bypass the official Three update.
I was under the understanding that my phone with Three branding was locked to a network? Is this man right that I can download a SDK file (what is a SDK file?) and simply load the new software onto the phone basically rendering it unbranded?
As for the original point of when the official Three upgrades will be issued.... Nothing, had no idea apart from to say not to long!
Has anybody figured out how to "delete all" news articles in the sense 2.2 news widget? The articles just keep piling up and the only way I can find to delete them is one at a time, which is very time consuming.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible the week it came out. Last week I started having all sorts of problems and had to reformat the phone several times. Anytime I installed or tried to use an app the phone would crash. They sent me a new one. I put my extended battery in, let it go until it died, then turned the phone off and charged over night. I used the battery, if I remember right, around 60 hours. It definitely got me through 2 full days. This was with my normal use. I don't use it as a phone a whole lot. A call every day or two. Mostly texts, brief internet and some apps. My last phone, the same battery would get me through the day but need recharged over night or I'd be needing to throw it on the following afternoon. So I try my standard battery. Let it drain out, charge it over night, typical use again. It's currently at up time of 33.5 hours and awake time of 1:40:00 with 30% battery left. Again, first phone, that battery would need bumped up a couple of times a day on the charger.Granted when I first got the phone I was obsessed with playing with it, but getting almost 24 hours more between two phones (original and the replacement) using the same battery is odd. It's a hardware 2, just like my last phone. Everything seems to match up spec/number wise in About Phone.I know there are a ton of battery threads, but I didn't know where to put this.
