I can't seem to figure out how to get contacts on the people screen. I have the screen up, blank, I hit the word people on top, that goes to contacts, I pick a favorite contact. That's where I don't know what to do next.

Yesterday I saved a new number to my SIM card. Now when I select Phone on the home screen I only see this single SIM contact. I've since deleted it, recreated and saved it to my phone, however still when going to Phone, there's an empty screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a sense of how many people have encountered an issue with their Droid's screen not working, though everything else on the phone is apparently fine. It's happened to me a few times, and the screen won't show any picture, but the touch sensor & haptic feedback are all still working, and the phone has connectivity because it receives messages & calls. The weirdest thing is, it will come back after a period of time & work perfectly as if nothing ever happened.I've see a number of other threads on the forum that indicate a similar problem, so I'm trying to get some sort of sense as to how many people have experienced this. It seems like there's a design flaw in the Droid, because it doesn't seem to be caused by actual hardware damage since the screen will come back on & look perfectly normal.So, if you've experienced this issue please post here, or if you've found a thread on this please post the link.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an app where I want to list all phone numbers and the associated contact name.I see that there is the Contacts.People table for the purpose of getting all phone numbers and that there is a PERSON_ID to allow me to lookup the contact in Contacts.People.Great.Now I see that all the columns I want are already joined to the Contacts.People.Phones table. But that seems lucky in this case.How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe 'People' widget has all my phone contacts that I synced with Gmail. The 'Phone' contacts are everyone I have as a friend on Facebook. I do not want all my FB friends showing up in the 'Phone' contacts and there does not appear to be a way to delete them. In other words, there are "friends" I have on FB that I have no desire to call and I just don't want them in my phone. Is there any way to make the 'Phone' contacts match the 'People' widget?

Old craigslist ads are now in my contact list.I would like to have a contact with their mobile, home, emails, etc as one contact not 3,4 or 5.Also, I selected which ones I wanted before the link and I ended up will all of them.Finally, the people widget would be great if you didnt have to select a default action. I might text the same person alot but how do I call or email them from the widget if they have a default command?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn the people screen where you have the larger pics for your contacts some have a phone icon, others have a text icon and the index card icon. How can you get them to have the index card?
My problem is when I touch the pic it calls the person when what I want it to display the options, call, text, email etc. I know if you touch the bottom bar it does that but it takes some effort to get that right and not call someone by mistake.
I recently switched gmail accounts. I was able to reconfigure the stock mail app fine. The gmail app took some persuasion but eventually cooperated. The only problem is now all my contacts that were saved in my old gmail acct need to be transferred to my new one. Not a big deal (only have 10 because I lost my phone, reason why I have an Eris). However, my brother called. Since I lost him from my contacts, I used the recent calls window to add him. Hit Save. If I go to People, he isnt there. Retried it 3 times. I figure I can just re add him through gmail on my PC and sync it, but that's inconvenient and I wanna know: why isn't this working?

But, when I tap "phone" I get all those people PLUS everyone on my dang facebook. I didn't set it up like that so I'm assuming it has to do with either friendstream or facebook syncing. I don't necessarily want ALL those people in my contacts. Is there a way to change that?
View 17 Replies View RelatedThis is hard to explain, but all the videos i show for the droid x shows that when you finger scroll through screen left to right and you get that little thing that pops up on the bottom where you can tap the dots to take you to certain home screens.in that same video i see that the phone arrow for apps and contacts icons move out of site while the dots pop up. until you let go then the navigation dots dissapear and the phone arrow for all apps and contacts icons slide back up.The same thing for deleting an app, when i see someone in the droid x video tap and hold and drag down to bottom to delete the phone, contacts and all apps moves out of the way.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy phone has been acting up lately...Force closing every ten minutes or so for the past couple days, and I've been able to deal with it; however, one thing that is bugging the hell out of me is that I can't edit my contacts without it force closing on me. Does anyone know where I can get the People app so that when I uninstall it, I won't lose it forever? I know I'm not supposed to uninstall it, but I don't really know what else to do.

In my phonebook, by that I mean the People app, I used to only show my Phone contacts and hide the SIM contacts.
Since I've upgraded, the only options I have in the View option in People is Google or Phone. But my SIM contacts are also shown, and I want to hide them.
I use my gmail contact list on my phone. Ever since in synced up with gmail I have my contacts. If i use the "search people" icon I see all my contacts. If I use the "People" icon. I only have a fraction of my contacts in the list. What is the difference between the two sets?

On my Droid Incredible, if I launch the People app to view my contacts and hold the Menu button while viewing the main contacts list, a keyboard will pop up. Type on the keyboard, and the typed letters appear in a smokey overlay over your contacts... but it doesn't do anything.
Does anyone know what this does? Without rebooting my phone, I cannot get rid of the *banner* I guess you'd call it. I've done this twice-- once on accident (thought the keyboard would allow me to search contacts), and once just now trying to figure it out!
I have a new htc desire and I want to:
1. Understand the difference between Contacts and People in the phone? What I mean by that is under the list of programs there is one called " People " if i click that I see I can add people with ( phone, email and birthdate )Yet I also see on my 2nd screen a widget called " Favourites " which says Add contacts and when I hit add contacts it already has a list of names and emails that I totally dont recall adding but I do recognize. I believe it pulled them from my gmail account, So i have deleted them in gmail as I dont need them, but is there a way to delete them all in one go in the phone?
2. What is the best way to add peoples phone numbers in the htc desire? what steps should I take
Got a Desire last week, and it's my first smartphone so am on a bit of a learning curve, but the phone does rock.
Anyway, I'm a little confused with regards to the People Widget.
I have it configured on one of my home screens and its linked to my Gmail contacts account. I have set my favourites (grouped as 'Starred in Android')
and synched the favourites to go to that group when you first set it up.
Now, the phone also has 3 duplicate contacts in the list - all of the duplicates look like they've come from Facebook, but I can't get rid of them from the list.
At first I thought that the phone was trying to synch my gmail contacts with my facebook contacts, but then it hasn't done all of my Facebook contacts that match the contacts in my Gmail.
I'm a bit confused as to how they've got in there.
I've tried resysnching Gmail and Facebook, removed the People widget and re-added it, I've checked everything in my Gmail contacts but can't see anything un-toward, I've tried having background data sync enabled and disabled whilst trying to remove these to no avail.
I still can't seem to remove these 3 duplicate entries.
when I'm at the phone screen and hit menu/people/groups icon(multiple cards) you have the option to "add group" at the top or hit menu again and 2 options appear: Add Group or Delete Group. Either of these options are not functional. They don't work. It seems that HTC forgot to add functionality for this. Does anyone have a solution for this?

The picture would show up but their statuses wouldn't update. And now the picture doesn't show up on a contact, it's not linked with Facebook anymore and when I try to link it says I have no friends..?
First question: Why wouldn't my contact's statuses update?
Second question: How do I link my people/contacts to Facebook again?
I want to lock certain people in my contacts. Can the hero do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought an HTC Legend last week and i'm very happy with it... but one thing really bothers me: For certain people I add in the People app ... as soon as I save them into a category ("Co-worker" for example), they will dissapear from my general list. And if I remove them from that list, I can't find them unless I search for their name?!? Is there like a "hide" thing that I checked by mistake?

There are some phonebook groups that I have programmed to hide from contacts. But when I start typing the name of a person to find his contact in People the phone show even contacts in groups that I've programmed to hide.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 Google mail accounts and I transferred all of my phone contacts from my Blackberry to my EVO. I see many duplicate contacts for phone and e-mail on my phone but for some reason they don't sync back to gmail. I'd like to merge all of my contact data and then have it synced to either my main gmail account or to all 3 gmail accounts (if that's possible).
All of my accounts are set to sync on my phone but the phone contacts don't seem to be uploaded to my gmail account(s). I figured if I get all the data there I can use the "find duplicates" function in gmail and merge all of my contacts data under single names.
I can access my contacts through the group lists (have had to create a group with all contacts) but when i go to my people list only my personal contact shows up.
