Motorola Droid :: Way To Stop Things From Booting With Phone?
Nov 11, 2009it seems like everything just boots when the phone does..i have advanced task manager to end things that arent in use every 30 min but that doesnt take care of them booting up to begin with..like facebook yes i use it but why does it have to be a running app on boot same for the market.

Oct 30, 2010i originally rooted my phone using the sprecovery method. i also loaded up chevyno1's 1100lv kernal that same way.i was told to use rom manager to load up a new ROM in order to make it easier on myself to go back to the stock ROM should i choose to.i installed rommanager, and applied the new rom. nothing happened. it didn't load, my phone rebooted normally. i tried manually going into recovery and nothing happens. the big "m" stays on there for a while, blinks and stays on there a bit longer. it will stay there as long as im holding "x" down.can i uninstall rom manager and fix this issue? any other way?

Oct 31, 2010It would appear my phone does not want to reboot into clockwork recovery. Each time I use the bootstrapper to reboot into the recovery mode, it just sits on the M logo indefinitely. Any thoughts, or am I sol until the update is released that is to fix this?

I started getting duplicate sms messages in both handcent and the stock text messaging app. So i wiped data/cache and tried it again and got the same thing. Dec 29, 2009I got the Droid about a month ago and love it. I do have a problem though: My house is in the same town as a non-verizon CDMA tower (US Cellular) and very far away from the nearest Verizon tower. With my other Verizon phones (older handsets), they just connect to the close tower and have full signal all the time without any issues. My Droid, on the other hand, will always try to stay connected to the distant Verizon tower - it can be very difficult and frustrating to make calls with the Droid because there is often no signal and the phone is unable to place a call. I don't need the 3G at home, as the Droid can use my wireless for browsing, etc. How can I get the Droid to stop trying to connect to the distant Verizon tower and connect to the nearby partner tower instead (so that I have high-quality phone signal at home)? I have called Verizon and Motorola and nothing seems to help.

May 7, 2010I dried it in rice and it started up fine after about a day but the trackball was acting like it was constantly pressed down. So seeing as the warranty was already voided because it got wet I decided to open up my phone to make sure there wasn't any rice bits inside. After closing up my phone it now will only boot up to the hboot screen. Holding down the volume down button causes it to check the sd card for files that cant be found. The file list is to quick to really read but they all start with PB00 and end in .zip. A guy at verizon recommended that I try to root my phone but all the directions I've found require you to put your phone in usb debug mode

Sep 29, 2010When I first got my X it allowed me to manually choose to connect to wifi but lately it just auto connects and I cant turn it off if im in a wifi area. This puts a huge drain on my battery. I'd prefer to have the OPTION to connect to wifi if/when i want to and to use the 3G network otherwise. Any idea how I can address this issue? Sep 17, 2010So out of the blue today my hand cent starts getting 2 messages each time i get a text message. Even displays both of them in the bubbles. I've made sure hand cent is the default and of course I've disabled the stock message apps. But after I installed the new froyo update I have 2 txt msg stock apps. Messaging and Text Message. Anyone know what .apk to remove to get remove them and where those apks are... and the big thing... how to get the dang double messages to stop. It stinks because it makes me always have an icon on the notification bar saying I've got unanswered messages.

Today I received the auto-update notice on my device, but I don't want to just go ahead with it and lose root access. So I am hoping someone can tell me how I should handle this. I would like to update, but only if I can keep root access as I have overclocked and run a number of other root-only apps. Here is my device info... I'll try to provide as much as I can. I used the instructions listed HERE to root my device, and HERE to overclock. Also, will it be necessary to wipe all my data to perform this update and re-root? And if it turns out that I am not ready to update right now, is there a way to stop the automatic notifications?

Feb 22, 2010I have had my Droid since lauch. The GPS which i use a ton geocaching and with the google maps has been flawless. Now all of a sudden the GPS has stopped being accurate. It always says im half mile to where i am, google maps/navigation doesnt work, and neither does any program i have that uses GPS. Always says the GPS Signal is not there. Any tips or has anyone have had this happen to you?

Jan 18, 2010About two hours ago, I noticed my Droid was hot in its case. I took it out and noticed that it was constantly rebooting on about a two minute cycle. Tried to boot it up in safe mode (successfully) but it still rebooted. I managed to keep it running long enough to uninstall an app I had loaded today, but still no luck. Constant reboot. Any help before I call VZW support?

Aug 27, 2010Ok so i don't know if this is happening to anyone else, can't find anything even in a google search. Basically my beef win the phone is that if i press space and want a symbol that space away from the previous letter the phone will automatically move the punctuation next to the previous letter. All it does is switch the space and the symbol. This is really annoying if i want to oh let's say "quote" something. Had to type the symbol and backspace to fix and then it doesn't auto correct. Any idea how to fix this? It bugs the crap outta me.

Jun 26, 2010I'm using Bugless Beast v0.2.1. Beautiful Widgets keeps installing to the SD Card, when I reboot my phone the widget doesn't work. And has to be reinstalled. Pushing it back to the phone doesn't work either.
I know it loads correctly from the phone. Stupidly I tried pushing it to the SD Card and now realize why I was having problems with Beautiful Widgets a few days ago when I was flashing new ROMs.
How to stop all apps from downloading to SD period. I do not want a single app taking up space on my SD card.

Aug 23, 2010After receiving the Froyo OTA update and realizing that it totally broke all of the features I use on my Droid (streaming audio, silent mode, etc.), I have downgraded to Bugless Beast v1.1.
I am finding that BBv1.1 is continuously downloading the OTA update from Verizon over and over in the background. If I go to Settings | About Phone | System Updates, I see a status bar indicating the download progress for the OTA update. The OS never requests to install the update, but it keeps downloading repeatedly. This is absolutely killing my 3G bandwidth, making web browsing nearly impossible. It is also killing my battery life (about 10 hours on idle).
How the hell do I stop BB v1.1 from downloading this OTA update that I do not want?
