I have used Lookout since it was introduced but lately I have been unable to connect to do a backup. Either via my phone or their website, neither method works. I sent feedback to them via their website but their silence is deafening. It keeps saying "connection error" and will NOT complete a backup. Is anyone else having backup issues? Or is it just me?

I've searched but can't find anything answering this question, just people talking about how to use it. Owners of other phones are telling me it will cost me to use Mobile Hotspot, but is that true?

I have been given the tasks of speccing a mobile application, which will need to run on approx. 1000 devices. These devices already exist, and consist of iPhones, BlackBerrys, Androids, Windows Mobile and Netbooks. The application will have simple reporting capability, and a collection of forms. Anyway, the obvious solution would be to develop some browser based solution, although given the occasionally connected nature of the devices, there's a potential for data to get lost / not saved.
So instead of creating a complex application for each platform, I was thinking we could build what is effectively a form generator, with basic offline storage capability (text files), designed to run on each device, and have the device generate a form, based on for example an XML file that it could request from a server somewhere, resulting in minimal specialist development costs, and the ability to run most of the logic from the server end, with the devices being dumb clients that render forms and upload the data when there is an available connection. Anyway, my question summarised is, how have you made the decision on supporting multiple devices for your application. Is this always an unavoidable problem, and you just have to make the call to support 1 or 2, or pay for developers to write code for each platform, or alternatively supply pre-installed devices to the company?

so, we're Flexilis, a company developing a really awesome mobile security app. Our free beta for android is just about ready to roll, and we're looking for testers! If you'd like to test, just shoot me a direct message here, or send us an email at support.at.flexilis.dot.com, saying you want in on the android beta, and we can get you set up.If possible, also include your experience beta testing other apps, and how much of an android enthusiast you'd say you are. :-) Those who submit that info are more likely to be bumped up the list to being in the first round of testers. For more info about what the Flexilis app does, check us out at http://www.flexilis.com, and of course, we do the twitter thing too, over at Flexilis (flexilis) on Twitter

I know iphone has icam/Drop cam that can do this, but do the android phones have something similar where you can install cams in your house and get alerts on your phone with realtime footage, etc?I can totally relate near the end of the clip where they show a cam is pointed out in front of her yard where she can catch which dogs are dropping bombs on her lawn. I'd love to be able to do the same. Any ideas what are good cams/setup to achieve this?

My work has free Wifi available for patients and whoever but you must first sign in on a main page it redirects to if your not already. Here to sign in you must accept a security certificate to be able to do this. It worked on my Droid the first day I did this and now I cannot get it to work, says it cannot redirect with no connection. Now this has happened before with my laptop and I just remove the certificate and it gets a new one and off I go. My question is where can I find these so I can delete it on the droid?

I remember all the ruckus about security concerns for jailbroken iPhones, and after talking to a friend with one of these devices, I began to wonder if there were any similar concerns I should have with a rooted Droid?
1) Is it more important now to have a "pattern-protected" lock screen?
2) Do I need to create a unique password for SU access?
3) Do I need to be more concerned malware or data swiping from market apps?
I love my recently rooted Droid but assume that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Is my assumption correct, or do I need not be concerned?

I often share my phone with the family while at home because I don't have a land line. Is there a way to setup some kind of security so when others use the phone to make/receive calls they cannot access my email, sms, etc.? Something similar to user accounts on a Windows computer?

I know that I can go into Settings and set the Security Lock to turn on after a number of minutes but then I have to wait for that many minutes. I'd like the ability to automatically turn the Security Lock screen on on-demand. Anyone know of a way to do this?

All of a sudden my security lock feature stopped working. I've rebooted several times and the lock screen pops up initially after reboot, but then I do not see it again. I can lock the screen and it goes black, but if I hit lock/home key again it goes straight to home screen.

I'm seeing so many people complaining about the new lock screen that it seems that many Droid owners aren't using a pattern lock to secure their phone. This really surprises me, the phone contains access to all your email, contacts, calendar, and any other personal data you may have placed on it, and a large percentage of you aren't even using the basic security provided by the pattern lock? Or is it that many people don't know the pattern lock exists? I just can't imagine having a phone like this that isn't secured to whatever extent is available.

I upgraded to 2.2 yesterday and download was quick (<5 min) and install was equally quick.
When it rebooted to the new system it required me to establish a security code that comes on when you unlock the phone. I want to disable this function- but in the setting menu the choice to disable is there- but not able to be selected to be modified? Am I just missing something?
BTW: seems like a smart unlock as it only ask for your password if it has slept for a while (which makes me believe there is a setting somewhere that modulates the length of time after sleep that this is activated).

My company is upgrading to exchange 2010 (from 2003) and ever since I moved my mailbox to 2010, every time I reboot I get a notification prompt to "Update Security Settings". This happens every time I reboot no matter how many times I accept it. I've tried deleting and re-adding the account, and it continues to come back every time I reboot.
The annoying part is that it doesn't seem to sync properly until a few minutes AFTER I've accepted these changes. It doesn't seem like this should be happening.

I'm not sure why, but ever since I set up my exchange email account on my motorola droid, it constantly prompts me to "Update Security Settings" in the notification bar and makes an obnoxious beeping sound. I can't turn this off and following the notification does nothing.

If i place the Widet that covers up the whole screen called Stocks by Yahoo. Then click it to open it I can add a stock or index. However, right under that text it says *This service may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. It's Yahoo Finance Stocks which comes with the phone. Anyone know if it cost extra money to use? Also if I go into settings/wireless controls/mobile network settings/ data roaming (connect to data services when roaming) and check that does it cost extra money to use 3G when the phone is roaming? Do you guys have "enable always-on mobile" (uses more power on some mobile networks) checked?

When my router is set to WPA the Droidx connects and stays connected. But when I change to WPA2 it keeps connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. This leaves me with a choice of less security for my entire network, or no wifi for the Droidx. I have seen this problem mentioned on the Motorola support page, but I have not heard of any resolution. Does anyone have a fix for this? I am using the new Froyo 2.2 OTA update.

Lookout, wavesecure etc. But being a Android user myself (and not ******ed) If I stole a droid what is stopping me from booting to the recovery console and wiping the phone. Then viola! the apps are useless correct? Or am I missing something here?
