Motorola clears up Droid X battery tab confusion with design change | Android Central. Anyone with newer phones seeing this change?
I wasn't an idiot and pulled it out on purpose. But maybe from pulling it from having my phone rooted is the cause. Anyways, its gone. Does anyone have any fixes? I was thinking of putting scotch tape around the battery with a little slack from both ends on the one side, so I have a non sticky homemade "pull tab". It should work but just wondering if anyone has a better idea I'm not thinking of.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm coming from a blackberry where a "power off then back on" is different than a "battery pull" to soft reset the phone. But whats the deal with the Droid? Can I really just get away with "powering off then back on" instead of having to pull the battery to reset?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have set up the one-click root on my X, and have also licensed and installed Titanium Backup. I am now ready to remove some of the crapware on my phone. I just have this last question. After "freezing" and/or removing some of the crapware, do I need to do a Factory Reset, or, can I just do a Battery Pull?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI mentioned this in another thread but thought it might garner more attention here. I keep seeing people indicate that this or that problem is fixed by a "battery pull." While I understand that a frozen/unresponsive phone must have its battery pulled in order to get it to reboot, I am failing to see what this accomplishes when your phone is functional. Is there something that a battery pull does that shutting down your phone does not do? I was trying to work it out in my head and couldn't come up with anything. Memory is cleared when you power it down. Cache is stored on the flash card, so that doesn't go away. Nothing stays powered up during the shutdown. So, help me out here. What does it do, that holding down the power button and selecting "Power Off" does not do?
View 25 Replies View RelatedFirst off, let me state my phone is rooted, but this problem happened pre root as well. Certain applications, the two I think I've noticed doing it so far, were weather bug, and temp monitor. That have on going notifications, will randomly cause my phone to not turn back on from sleep. I have to do a battery pull just to get the phone back up.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I ever want to restart my phone I have to pull my battery multiple times to get it to boot. It will load the Motorola M and sit there. Usually takes about 2 or 3 battery pulls to move onto the droid logo. I am on 2.3.9 Leak and am running the Revolution Theme.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone was (still is) getting VERY hot and the battery life was getting bad, all started w/in a week or so, seemingly after the last (not current) Launcherpro update. So I did a battery pull. Well, now I'm getting the 'damaged sd card' error, I've rebooted but still get it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is the problem - but it could be...sorry for the long post, but could REALLY use your help - and this is the best place to find it! Last night I hooked up my Droid to charge on this charger: Amazon.com: Lenmar ACUSB4 AC Travel Adapter for up to 4 USB Powered Devices (Black): Electronics.I went and checked on it later and it was turned off. This was after about 2 hours. The power button wouldn't work and I had to pull the battery to get it to turn on.
So I was thinking that maybe the charger wasn't good enough. Granted, it's not rated all that high but reviews have people charging an iPod, iPhone, Blackberry, and Kindle all at once with it.
It has the 5V output but a lower MA rating (I think 300ma input is what it says). I have another single port charger that only has 500ma (before people come in and say you NEED 800ma or whatever) and it works fine. Anyhow, I tried to replicate the problem by plugging it back into the charger (I wanted to see if it was the charger, or something I did, like set it down too hard...as I have the business card under the battery trick for the back case, thought maybe I dislodged it and was covering the leads or something), and after 8.5 hours, no problems. Fully charged, it was on this morning when I woke.I would REALLY prefer to have a multiple USB charger (even if it costs 50 bucks or more) because I travel a TON and have a bunch of USB devices (6+) that need charged.
I returned the Moto Droid on day 29 because it was bulky, I worried about the slider mechanism (and barely ever used the physical keyboard), and because I was very envious of the Sense UI on the Eris. The biggest thing was that when I had to turn the phone off or the couple of times I had to do a battery pull, it took 5-10 minutes before the phone would let me make a call. I have been pretty happy with the Eris as I love the physical buttons and the trackball and Sense UI and the form factor. But looking over the Droid threads on various forums, I do miss the beautiful screen and the quickness of the browser and changing between screens. I was a bit pissed that the software updates were after the exchange period for people who bought the phones when they came out. It really doesnt matter I suppose as I am not able to exchange this phone out for anything else. I understand why Verizon doesnt let you exchange repeatedly but its so hard to know how well a phone will do for you until you use it for a while. Full price is always an option if a higher-end HTC comes out but my husband wouldnt be too thrilled with that I think.

View 15 Replies View RelatedRooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBackground info:
- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)
First off my browser won't let me click certain buttons after a few hours of the phone being on. Not a big deal but when I shut the phone off it won't turn back on unless I do a battery pull. This happens 2-3 times a day so can get annoying. I'm about to get a case though and don't want to keep taking it off and on and risk messing up the fit or scratching it. Does anyone know of a program that shuts the phone off like a battery pull?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes any one know of an Application for Android that will allow you to reset your device (like a battery pull would do) only with out having to physically pull the battery yourself. Also, I would like to know if there are any such apps, do any of them allow you to schedule the pulls?? (Good for letting your phone reset itself at times when your not using it) There's a similar Blackberry App (Quickpull, just google it) Thanks for the help and if there are no such apps, I wouldn't mind paying for a developer to make such an app.
View 13 Replies View RelatedJust picked up the Epic yesterday, and already been having issues all day long. The phone has does this about 5 or 6 times today. It will fade away, and when I come back to it a little later to check messages or anything, it will all be blacked out, and nothing will come back. (by hitting the power button) No matter what I push, the screen stays black, and the phone seems like it is off. (A few times, the lights have stayed on, and the buttons act like they are responding, but nothing works still) It has also lost signal completely twice today, and I've had to restart it to get signal back.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSometimes, after manually locking the phone, I'll try to unlock the phone but the "swipe" bar no longer shows up. It's almost comical when this happens, as I can get phone calls, emails, texts etc during those times (I can even pick up/reply), but the phone goes immediately to that "swipe less" lock screen right afterward. There is no way for me to unlock the phone (even a long press on the lock button doesn't work), so I have to take off the case and do a battery pull to reset. Has any experienced this and does anyone have any fixes for it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else deal with this, I will use it like 30 seconds prior, lock the screen and go to pick it up and nothing, I have to pull the battery and reboot. Happens a couple times a month maybe, usually happens when I am actually trying to do something. I am currently running on Nonsensikal 8.8 but it did it on Ivans 1.0 and Nonsensikal 7.5 as well. It may have done it on the stock 2.1 rom as well, but I cannot remember. It seems to happen more often now that it is on Froyo though.

There doesn't appear to be any consistency with this error and I haven't installed any new apps in recent time that would have changed the phone around.
