View 16 RepliesThis is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
I'm roooted. I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?
Is this possible?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just spent an hour looking through the posts so I know I am not the only one thinking of doing this. I'm just the only 1 making it public! I did a factory reset, but 2.2 still came back. 2.2 that I have is buggy and making me nervous to a point where if I have to take the phone in. I don't want them to void my warranty.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title says...is there a way? Not trying to start the debate that has been going on and on. I can't speak for anyone elses phone, but mine is pretty bad now. I loved this phone before 2.2 and now I have a hard time saying I even like it.

before , i had v.4.5 and email worked like a champ. Tried to reinstall SG v.5.0.1 few times - no effect.
Anyone can suggest where to get and install back email app. Not really interested in getting from Market non-droid versions.
I have RSDLite 4.7. I have the right SBF file. When I do the flash it says 100% executing and starts back at 0%. It sits there for 2 minutes and says FAIL.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid yesterday and installed the 2.1 rom. I am not happy with the lack of keyboard backlighting and it seems quite buggy to me. I want to know how to go back to 2.0.1 Do I just replace the file in my nandroid folder with my original backup? One other thing I am wondering is, will having my phone rooted mess up any ota updates of 2.1 that Verizon releases?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've had my phone (Droid1) for about 8 or 9 months and I love it. I just recently updated the phone to the 2.2 myself. I wasn't sent it like the rest of the phones. One problem I've ran into is memory. Everyday it says that I'm sort on memory, but I don't have a lot of applications. I have maybe... 8. I've deleted most of them because it says I need room. My question is.. what can I do to get memory back? does rooting help with memory? Should I restart my whole phone, if so, how do i do that?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using wireless tether with bugless beast 7.4 fine but when I went to 7.9 I lost it and can't get it back. I'm using 2.1 Bugless Beast V0.4 and still can't get it to work. I have tried sholes roms too after 7.4 and no dice.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've changed something in my setup and now the lockscreen is gone completely. So, when I toggle the power button it just opens the phone, I really want to get my lockscreen back but I don't know how I did it.I'm using a Droid X with OTA 2.2 and LauncherPro (unlocked).
View 11 Replies View RelatedThe search slid over to the home screen to the left, during one of the phone calls. Now to access it, I have to go to the left home screen.I tried holding down and moving it, but it only moves about within the same homepage, and I can't get it back to the middle one.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have updated ChompSMS so often that I am not sure whether it coincided with my loss of all texts yesterday. I know this has happened to some folks before, but it is a first for me. Do we know whether this is a Droid issue or a ChompSMS issue?
View 5 Replies View RelatedBeen away from custom roms for a while. Is there a stock ROM to go back to if I ever needed to bring my Droid back in for service?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe screen lag is kind of driving me nuts in 2.2 and I'm thinking about going back to 2.1 for a while to see if i miss the updates in 2.2 enough to live with the homescreen lag.
I've installed LauncherPro and the screen redraws are better, but still happen enough to annoy me.
I'm not sure if i use flash too much, but i know i need 2.2 for it. But what about the updates to gmail, youtube, etc? Do those show in the market if I'm on 2.1?
Also, I didn't root until 2.2 so I don't have a backup of my 2.1. Is there a simpler way to flash back to 2.1 without using RSD? The link I found to an image for 2.1 to flash no longer works.
I, like a boss, jumped right on the 2.2 leak and updated my phone right off the bat. Lost root, came to the forums, realized that copying a single file could have saved me, cried a bit inside my heart, and finally started the process to flash back to "stock" so that I can re-root, and update the right way without losing root again.
So I downloaded the .sbf file. Downloaded RSDLite 4.6 and attempted to flash. Error: can't access the INI file... sigh
Downloaded RSDLite 4.7 and attempted to flash. Error: Your phone isn't compatible with multi-blah blah blah...
Googled here and there and searched our happy old forums. No luck. Just stupid people giving stupid advice like "try a different USB port". Did I mention I hate people who just reply to a thread with a lame ass "suggestion" even though they clearly have no clue what they're doing?
So I need to know if there is another way to flash back to 2.1 or 2.0.1 (whichever the case may be) so that I can do this upgrade the right way without losing root?
Also, would one of the mods/admins please go back and edit the original "HOW-TO upgrade to 2.2" thread in the basic Droid-X forum and put a huge bold disclaimer for those of us who have our phones rooted to GO TO THE THREAD IN THE "ALL THINGS ROOT" FORUM AND READ THAT FIRST....
Could have saved all my troubles if this information was stated in the first place. I know this is sounding like I'm complaining. Which I guess I am. And I know it's my fault for not reading more before I went ahead and jumped in to the update. But seriously, one little line of text could have saved so many of us so much trouble.
Like all I manually update to 2.2 (non-root) . Now I find a post that I can root easily but need to be 2.1. so how can I revert back to 2.1
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy replacement x came with .9 so i try to flash it back and it worked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI JUST read a great little how-to on getting the X back to 2.1. It's now gone. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Not sure why we would take that off, even with the C&D in place. I'm really just trying to put it back to stock.
