The search slid over to the home screen to the left, during one of the phone calls. Now to access it, I have to go to the left home screen.I tried holding down and moving it, but it only moves about within the same homepage, and I can't get it back to the middle one.

I recently rooted and ROM'd. It used to work that when I held down the little magnifying glass in the lower right corner of my screen it would bring up a voice search that let me say pretty much anything... navigate to [here], call [this person]. It's stopped doing that. Now when I hold it down it brings up a little message saying "you haven't enabled quick compose, please enable it from handcent settings"

Now, after theming, the search button does nothing from the homescreen, but does still work while in applications, the browser, the market, etc. I am running launcher pro, deodexed w/ revolution.

I installed gesture search last night and now one of my few gripes with the phone is solved. I hated having to having to hold the options button to bring up a keyboard and then having to clear my last entry to start another search.
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
How to turn off vibrate for the home/menu/back/search keys? I've turned off vibrate for dialing and other menus, but the lower keys I can't change.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLurked for short time. Good site. Wife and I got Eris each. hers does not 'buzz' when tapping the 'home, menu, back and search' touch keys. Could not figure it out. Any suggestions? (Love the phones by the way!) OH!!! And, bought the Seido 3500 mah battery. it really is not that big, fits in my hand nicely. I will let you know how it lasts. charged last night and still strong today. But I will keep updated.

I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?
Something fishy is going on with her phone. On the home screen when the back key is pressed it brings up the Quick Search. OK, that's no big deal. Not the end of the world.When you navigate through regular menus like Settings the back key works fine. But if, for example, you go to Contacts, Open a contact, tap the address to show it on a map, click on the map to see Street View, you would expect that the back key would back-track you through all of those steps right back to the home screen. But it doesn't. The Quick Search keeps popping up instead and it's quite a job to get back to the home screen.Reboot doesn't change that.Anyone else seen this or has any ideas? It can't be a dodgy button because the navigation works as expected in other circumstances.

You do a search for a name and get 2 or 3 contacts with the same name, you look at one but its not the one you wanted, you want to go back to the search results to look at the other option but you can't, it takes you back to all contacts, you are left cursing that you have to re-enter cuz now you are driving. View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have a problem with the backlight on the Home/Menu/Back/seach buttons. On my Incredible sometimes they come on when I bring it out of sleep and stay on. Other times they don't come on at all. Sometimes they just come on in the middle of doing something on the phone.
Have added some apps from the market but can't remember if it was like this from the start. Did a reboot and battery pull but it's still occuring.
I have also had a couple phantom reboots when in sleep mode so not sure if it's related.
I just visited the sprint store today and was testing an epic 4g and found that the bottom buttons were very unresponsive and I had to press them multiple times (sometimes up to 6 times) to get them to work. The guy working at sprint told me all the epic phones are that unresponsive. Is this true?

Has anyone noticed since the Froyo update that the Home, Menu, Back and Search keys stay lit while you are charging the phone? It never did that before I did the Froyo update. The buttons should always be visibly and always stay on top and send the command to the app thats running.
Someone have ideas and sample codes how to do that?
*I see an app with name (Smart Taskmanager) wich always detect when you touch the right side of the screen and then detect when you slide the finger to left.
So I think its possible, with this function I think its possible to implementate the code to simulate the (Home, Meny, Back, Search) buttons.
*I also see and test an app wich show a "cracked display" always ontop so that tecnic maybe shold be useful to always show the buttons/bitmanp on top.
Thoose function, to show the button and catch the "touch event" and send the event to the active program, thats what i dont can figure out how to do.
I have to press hard and sometime couple times for those 4 bottons to respond. Is there a way to adjust them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my incredible, the home, menu, back, and search notations on the body of the phone below the screen and above the trackball are not illuminated 95% of the time. If I am in the dark the notations are illuminated for a while, even when in a bright room. Then they go dark again.
Questions: Is there a setting I can adjust which can illuminate these notations all the time? Is this normal behavior?
Is there an app that allows me to search my own data on my Motorola Droid? Like having a phone number and wanting to see i it's on my phone.
