I have updated ChompSMS so often that I am not sure whether it coincided with my loss of all texts yesterday. I know this has happened to some folks before, but it is a first for me. Do we know whether this is a Droid issue or a ChompSMS issue?

This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
This forum has been really helpful to rooting my Eris, so thanks to everyone for the guides and help. I wanted to throw my eris off a bridge until I rooted it but now I actually kind of like it haha.
Im running KayosFroyo v29, and would like to try some of the more stable versions out there (I believe they are up to 34 now). However I hate that I loose all my texts flashing from one to another. Is there something that can do to back them up and load them into a new rom?
I did not register my googlemail account on my Hero when I initially set it up but want to do so now. I get the old 'sim card may not be provisioned for data services' error message and have read up that I will have to do a hard reset.
This will wipe out my texts so I want to know is there a way to back them up? I am aware there are utilities in the android marketplace for this purpose but as I cannot sign in to my googlemail account via my phone, I cannot make use of them.
I've been owning an android since Nexus one, then the S and then Galaxy Nexus till few days ago when i decided to buy a Galaxy Note from Ebay.
I am with verizon, so after i switched my sim card from my galaxy nexus to the new note 2, after few minutes, it keeps downloading / syncing some text messages. Suddenly out of nowhere these text messages appear with someone elses conversation. After few minutes some other contacts appear in my contacts list too. None i know.Reset the whole phone again, this time did not log into any account and the same thing happens.reset another time and this time, removed the sim card and connected with WiFi only and still all the stuff appeared.
Usually when I reset the phone to factory settings, it tuns off an on few times and acts weird for few minutes until all these messages and contacts appear.I have checked and i am not signed into any account?! Don't know how these text messages keep appearing
My contacts are all setup as area code+xxxxxxx. I'm using the stock messaging app on my Moment. I get a text from someone in my contacts and reply to it. The text bounces back as not being in the ten digit format.
Is this because of the way the sender has their number configured or have I failed to setup texting correctly?
I called Sprint and they suggested a hard reset but I think the rep was clueless.
I'm roooted. I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?
I have a Droid 2 that is almost three weeks old.Where are received texts? I got one while in a meeting, glanced at it and then put my phone to sleep. Later I realized that I have no texts except for those that I sent or responded to. Is there a way to get my texts back? This one was rather important.On my old flip phone I could read all of my texts!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got the droid about a week ago and I am not getting all of my texts.I get score updates from ESPN, and they aren't getting through to my Droid.It seems like any message from a non-10-digit number don't come in (like 75743 or something like that).I called Verizon and they were clueless.I also don't know how many other texts I am not getting.I sure don't get as many as I did with the iPhone, so I am sure the problem extends beyond non-10-digit numbers.I was also told by a friend that they are getting the same text twice from me.Any suggestions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs that normal? I installed Handcent which is what I'd like to use. I checked hand cent delivery report under the hand cent settings and unchecked delivery report from carrier. I searched all the other menus and can't figure it out. I get one pop up that has a done/later/eply window and then another underneath that is bigger that has little icons(paper,mike,person,trash and volume) Is this normal behavior? Or is there a setting that I just cannot find.

I don't want to take it to vzw, because they will just reset it and i want to only use that as a last ditch effort. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is the only phone that it's ever happened to. Since I got the Droid, I've been missing calls. Not like I have missed calls. The only calls that are okay are the ones that I make. Everyone is telling me that when they call me it rings about 3 times and then just hangs up. Like I ignored it but didn't go to vmail. However, none of these calls are going through at ALL so I'm not ignoring the calls.
Also, everyone is texting me saying that I never texted them back when I know I did.
Kinda like that iPhone thingy that shows you have a missed call or 2 or a few texts. Is there something like that for Droid?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering what is up with this feature... when I first bought my droid I didn't have it, then after a few days I could text during a call like normal, now I can't anymore.
Anyone else have this issue? It is very annoying when during a call I get no texts then after a call ill get a bunch of important ones. Every other phone I've ever had does this (motorola Q, Q9m, samsung omnia) is this a glitch on my phone or a common issue?
I went to try and open a message but the app kept bringing up an error and I'd have to force close it. The screen would then switch to my home screen but with no shortcuts just a background then after a second go black until I hit the home button. I restarted the phone and when I opened messaging ALL my conversations were gone. Is this a known glitch? is there a way to get all my texts back?
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my DX, I'm using the stock messaging client. Whenever I get a picture sent to me via MMS, it shows up twice. Regular text-only SMS shows up once. It doesn't matter if I'm using stock client or Chomp SMS or under 2.1 or the leaked 2.2. Anyone seen this before?

You have been reported to Verizon and if not returned we will find you...because there's an app for that."captain"."This phone is owned by "random name" call "number" to return immediately.(I have called a couple of these and they are legit with the name and number)Currently it is displaying "This phone belongs to Inah Me (phone number) if lost please call (phone number) called tech support and they said that in 30 years of support they've never seen anything like it. We reset the phone back to stock default uninstalling everything on the phone.

I've had it for 2 1/2+ months and it has done it twice, leading me to believe that it happens every month, regularly, because it always happens at the beginning of the month. The last time it happened, I brought it to the Verizon store but all they do is blame the consumer for any faults with software because Android is open source. Is there a way to get my texts back and how can I solve this problem? Is there an app that deletes text messages every month or so because of a hidden setting? Is there a solution to this problem without reformatting (I have my contacts, calendar, and a bunch of other stuff on my phone and also apps and I don't wanna delete anything).

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst Android phone and just switched to Verizon. I was sending a text and it was over 160 characters. I sent it and got a message saying that if I am texting a non Verizon customer they will only get the first 160 characters...I've had an iPhone and a Blackberry on ATT and it would split the message up for me and send a couple if it was over 160. Is there no way to do this on the Droid? Do I seriously have to try and squeeze everything into 160 characters like I did when I had the RAZR?

A few calls are going through but almost ALL are being disconnected back to the previous/home screen after one or two rings -- INCLUDING, now, *611 and *228. Called tech services this morning and am now on hold (15 min. so far!), from a land line. Texts from my family have not shown up, since yesterday and this morning. Did a soft reset this morning.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI live in a rural area and have sporadic reception in my house, and work in a large building with dead spots. When I am in areas without reception and a friend texts me, I will not receive it. When I get reception again a few minutes later, my texts will not go through automatically.
From what I understand, the way SMS messages work they will send immediately, and if they do not go through they will piggyback on a different connection. So Verizon will not try resending them to you until it is good and ready, even if you have had reception since then. In my case today I got 3 texts 80 minutes late.I called Verizon tech support earlier with this problem and after describing to him everything, his only solution was to always leave my droid by a window and never have it near me................
I set up a google voice account and when someone texts me on my GV number, it sends one to my normal text messaging app and my google voice one....How do i stop the normal text msg app from receiving the google voice texts while at the same time allowing it to receive texts if someone texts my normal verizon number? Make sense?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Droid never vibrates, ever. No matter if it is set to vibrate only, silent, or max sound. It doesn't vibrate for calls, texts or for anything. I set vibrate on for both, calls and texts - and it never vibrates. I temporarily installed other apps to see if the phone is physically able to vibrate, and it is. I am not sure if I am missing an option, or if there is a software malfunction.
