Mar 31, 2010After forcing the 2.1 update the launcher.apk keeps force closing and i cannot do anything do i have to wipe data and do a factory reset?

Mar 28, 2010I did do a search, but didn't find anything. I had been running Cyanogen's latest 5.0.5.3 I had also been using Ultimate Droid 8.1.1. I had decided to flash to UD from CM. I used ROM Manager. I had been using the Helix 2 launcher with UD. I decided to try the launcher2, so I checked that. The whole process ran apparently normally. Except it did lock up at the cache backup stage at the dalvik cache backup. I had to pull the battery and re do the ROM download from ROM manager. However, when the screen pops up after all of the boot antimation cycle, and you unlock, there is an immediate launcher2 force close. I can get to nothing in the phone. I do have the entire contents of my sd card on my laptop, which has all of the backups on it, not including this latest one.Power off and hold the X key does not work, so I can't get to reboot recovery that way. Multiple power off and battery pulls did nothing. Another point is that I had been able to download UD only if I checked AdamZ's 1.0 low voltage overclock kernel. I would get ROM download error with ANY of the other kernel choices. I tried this after the ROM Manager update I found tonight. This time I checked Chevy's 1.25 low voltage, and the process seemed normal, other than the lockup during cache backup noted above. However UD had been running just fine when I had used it. S

Jun 6, 2010Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

Sep 12, 2012I cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
HTC Droid Eris :: Helix Launcher Decided To Force Close ALOT / What To Do?
May 12, 2010No not the OTA. My Helix Launcher decided to force close ALOT. Back to back. I rebooted my phone to no avail. I pulled the battery and nothing was fixed. I tried to pull the app drawer and select the Uninstaller app, but it would force closed before I could open it.
Then I had a revelation: I have the Market as one of my shortcut apps on my Helix dock. I opened it up and went to my downloads, and opened the Uninstaller app. Uninstalled Helix, and now I am good to go.
I tried to switch from 5 screens down to 3 and it all started.

HTC EVO 4G :: Launcher Force Close Loop After 3.1.0.2 Update
Aug 19, 2010I rooted my managers phone and gave her 0.5.3 back when it was the standard fresh rom. Well last night she used fresh updater I believe to go to 3.1.0.2, which I know requires a wipe but she isn't exactly savvy on all of this. In any event, after the update the phone does not load the launcher. Upon unlocking the phone it is stuck in the com.htc.launcher has stopped unexpectedly. And after force close it loops this error. I can only see the lock screen or access the phone's SD card from my PC, I can change options such as "charge only" "disk drive" "usb debugging" but that's about it. Other than that I can get to Amon Ra recovery.What are my options for helping her out with this?

Aug 9, 2010I have rooted my phone, tried to partition sd card although not to sure that it took since I could not get a reading on my computer, flashed xtra rom 3.0.3, was running Launcher pro and all was hunky dory although I could not get any find any of my apps. I ran a restore from My Back up and restored my apps which in turn also restored Launcher pro (again).I am now stuck in a force close loop of Launcher pro after rebooting. I have done a hot battery pull and still am stuck.

Oct 12, 2010I've noticed my Nexus acting a bit buggy since the 2.2.1 update. Lots of force closes with the launcher. (which is exactly why I shredded and burned my old MyTouch for). After FINALLY getting a THIRD 16 gig card, after the other two got "damaged" costing me so far 25-30 gigs of content, I loading it up with movies and songs for my vacation. I go to reboot and it keeps looping the boot animation but wont boot up. Getting really close to kissing Android good bye as I've had NOTHING but bugs and damaged SD cards and an overall terrible user experience for a year and a half with two phones. I know we're only really two years into development but how much longer do we have to wait for a finished product that I don't have to keep making excuses for? More to the point WTF is going on with the boot loader on my phone and how do I fix it?

Aug 8, 2010I know there was a bulletin on not to do it if you had 2.1, but I was rooted using SS4.6. I had switched ROMs, between about three of them the past week, and didn't do a full wipe, just to be safe. But the phone was starting to get real slow, regardless of the ROM, so I just did a factory reset using Clockwork Recovery and now I don't seem to be getting 3G anymore. I can still get data, just at 1X. It'll say "3G" when idle, but once I'm browsing, it bumps down to 1X again. This couldn't possibly be what was suggested not to do for 2.1 owners, was it? Despite being on 2.2?

Mar 30, 2010I just got my droid about 2 weeks ago. I returned it the next day because it kept force closing on my sms. They gave me a new one and haven't had the problem.until yesterday. At least twice a day now, since yesterday, i get a message saying: The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...so i hit Force Close and then it just stays on a blank black screen so i hit the home button and hit messaging again and it pops up again. I take the battery out and that works for a few hours but then it just happens again...i don't wanna take this one back again and get a new one.I mean i have anti-virus (i dunno if it's good though lol) so I don't think it could be an app...i use the standard Messaging app that came with the phone, not Handcent or something else.will someone.I searched but they all seemed to be for different phones, not the droid.

Nov 19, 2009So I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.

Well yesterday, it started to do a force close when I click to open an email. I can synch and view the headers without any problems, just can't click on the email. I have rebooted, hard shut off, and done *228, and nothing has worked. Gmail works just fine.

Sep 9, 2010I had LauncherPro installed on my phone and it was set to automatically upload. It is currently stuck like it is downloading and sometimes it even says it's 100% downloaded, but nothing happens after that. If I click on cancel download, it force closes the market every time. I tried deleting LauncherPro and reinstalling it, but now I have lost it and can't get it back. I am still able to install and update other apps without any problem.

Apr 8, 2010After I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?
