I have had my droid since launch day and read about how there isn't much room for apps but didn't think much of it. But my phone is slow and lags when i try to go home, it sticks between screens and i have to swipe the phone to get it to go to a screen. I am using Open Home when this happens. Should i delete some apps to open up more memory on the on board memory?

Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:
1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?
how the memory works on my orginial motorola droid (2.2). When I open the running services tab I see this on the bottom:
Other: 54MB in 3 Avail:19MB+45MB in 7
I'm wondering if someone can explain what this means. I assume this is all coming out of the 256MB of Ram the droid has? I was also installing app's and got a memory low warning aftering firefox beta that was 14MB in size. I gather that almost all the apps do not support installing to the SD card yet if ever. So of like the 100 apps I have installed is it likley that they are all taking up room of the RAM of the 256MB? I'm also wondering if there is a good app that shows you how much of your RAM is full with apps, so you know when you need to uninstall some etc. Like you are using 200MB out of 256MB or whatever.
My phone is low on memory, when I open my app manager it shows my mail app is using 59mb of memory. I have erased all mail and cleared the cache with no change. I am running android 2.1

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a desire, unlocked and debranded running 2.2, since installing it last Sunday I keep getting a low memory message. I have moved apps to sd, deleted seldom used apps that were on the internal memory and gone through and cleared the cache down on browser and apps.
What else can I do to free up internal memory, is the only way to remove unwanted HTC apps eg. Stocks, tweet etc to root and run a custom Rom?
I know how to delete stock apps, im just wondering which ones are safe to delete? i had to get a new phone today because apparently i deleted an important file and my phone just stopped working. the only things i deleted were bejeweled, nascent, sprint football/nav/tv, Google talk and moxier. i want do delete them again, just without making the same mistake.

i read where you can't delete with out rooting or some work.can we hide them or possibly put them in a folder? i don't like seeing them in my app menu
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I just installed Easy Root because I was so disappointed with the new OTA update I just had to do something...So a few questions that I have are what are some must have apps to have with having a rooted Droid 1. Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.

I'm sure its been covered somewhere but does anyone have an explanation as to why when I open advanced task killer it tells me a bunch of apps, that I didn't open, are running? Doesn't really slow my phone down too much, just annoying... Running Eris Root KaosFroyo

I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.

View 30 Replies View RelatedOn a few apps I have downloaded I am unable to actually open the app. The app does not show up in my apps list and when I open it in the marketplace it says it's installed but the "open" button is grayed out. 1. App memory. On my blackberry I got into the habit of constantly checking my app memory. I have about 12 apps installed and jump around 30-55 available memory. Should I be worried about my app memory and keep freeing it up?
2. How many apps do you all have installed I see tons of apps I want but I tend to uninstall them because of app memory.
Basically I bought something off eBay and received a generic email to my hotmail account to say I'd won the auction. When I try to open in it does nothing, when I try and delete it it force closes the email program (I use the stock email program)I went to my email account on my PC and the email isn't even on the server!
Also my other account (also hotmail) has wiped out my entire inbox! luckily it's my old email account and I don't think I had anything important in it.I set my settings as follows a month or so ago.and havn't had any issues untill now.
I have an email in my Yahoo account that was not even sent to my Yahoo email address that will not open or delete. When I click on that email (to try to open it or delete it), the email program crashes and says this:The application Mail (processcom.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
