Motorola Droid :: SetCPU Advanced Settings?
Sep 1, 2010
The Sampling Rate, Threshold, etc. What do they mean and what are some optimal settings? I have mine untouched from whatever was stock with the app. Just curious if these settings were worth messing with unless you were advanced user, much like the settings themselves.

With SetCPU? It does not save settings across reboots, so I have to go into it everytime and read just the sliders, even with "Set on boot" checked.

I just rooted today and downloaded Bugless Beast V1.0 ROM as well as the kernel that allows for overclocking up to 1Ghz. I'm playing around with SetCPU and wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the min/max settings within the profile. I don't want to fry my phone, so if there's someone with experience with a kernel with similar capabilities who would be so kind as to share his profile settings.

How to bring up the Advanced settings tab for email? I found it on the Motorola Droid (which I now hate) but can't seem to find it on the Eris. I'm trying to leave the msgs on the server but download them to the phone. The iTouch, Saga, blackberry and Droid all had this page giving you this option.

I have now been using the overclocking function for over a month and would like to report on the settings found to be most effective.
I use a combination of apps to achieve excellent battery consumption (1 1/2 days generally).
1. Screebl, set to 15 seconds.
2. Milestone Overclock, set to custom 1000 MHz @ 69 vsel
3. SetCPU general 1000/500 with charge 250/1000 and sleep 250/500
Ive found that the 125 MHz setting does not push enough juice to the radios and i sometimes get glitches with the touch panel/ dialler when SetCPUs ondemand governor is waking up to a call or 3g connection.
Also, the lowered vsel value of 69 seems to save a half day's battery as opposed to standard 1000 MHz/ 72 vsel offered by Milestone Overclock.
Screebl is a must for anyone who doesnt have it, as its simply the most effective battery manager out there. Would like a five seconds option though

I just got my new htc desire today and really like it so far, being pretty new to smart phones myself I have a few questions to ask and clear up.
Wifi.
1) I've set this up and it seems to work, but I would just like to know what the advanced settings are for? I turned off the phone before and turned it back on and my wifi settings werent there and I had to re enter everything again is there anyway to ensure they are always saved? is it because my ESSID broadcast is disabled?
2)Is there anyway to make it so that whenever I am in range of my router, the phone can automatically connect to this?

Does anyone know if there is built in support for more advanced camera functionality within the Android API? I am speaking specifically about settings such as: Pseudo ISO Shutter Speed Aperture
Since the image is raw I have been planning on doing it in a post processing step as that is the common approach with digital imaging, yet I do not want to waste time recreating something which already exists. If anyone knows of a built in functionality in the Android 2 API.

If you open the default browser and type the address "about:debug" then press enter it will unlock numerous settings that are hidden. Once you do this it will appear that nothing has happened. Goto Menu>More>Settings and look at all the candy you just found.
Also on the Incredible there is an extra menu option that allows you to control and delete the hidden bookmarks feature.

Loved the app for the G1, since it was capped and setcpu got it to run at max speed. Ditto for Droid, since it was also capped and the OMAP had plenty of ceiling for more speed. The Snapdragon is already designed to dynamically scale from 245mhz to 1ghz, so what good are the settings, if Snap is already detecting resource needs and adjusting clock accordingly? This function is built into the die and seems no need for software augmentation.I appreciate insight, since some of the posts I have been seeing may suggest something that Snap already was designed to do and is built into the hardware.all of the needed polling that must happen through software for profile conditions may offset any gain as well. Seems inefficient managing via software, when the chipset already dynamically manages- unless Snap does a poor job in the first place.

I have tried several different Froyo Roms over the past very weeks. I still can't get any good battery life out of them compaired to running EE3.0. Yet everyone tells me they get better battery life while running Froyo. My phone has currently been unplugged for 9hrs 13 mins. It has a total of 50 mins talk time and I have sent 30+ text messages. My battery level is @ %73 running EE3.0
I can't get a total of 11hrs out of my phone when running any of the Froyo Roms. Ive tried running several different settings on SetCPU but nothing noticable. Only thing I notice is that when running Froyo the largest use of my battery is my Display. Yet when running EE3.0 the largest use is Cell Standby and Display is the lowest. But I have tried turning the brightness almost all the way down on the Froyo ROM but it doesn't make any difference.

Using Droid with Droidmod 1.0. I just updated to the newest version and for some reason when i have my profiles on.It sets it to max of 384 and min of 250. The lowest max i have set in my profiles is 600 so how can it show max is 384.
I know this is something real easy.
Of course using auto-detect
set on boot checked
on-demand (main screen)
on-demand (profiles)
max on all profiles is set to 600 min 250.

I am using Nexbeast 1.0 and I have installed setcpu and advanced task manager. I hear that it messes up somehow but I haven't noticed any problems. In fact before I installed setcpu my phone kept on restarting due to overheating. Am i messing my phone up in a way I can't detect? Any clarification on this issue would be great.

I apologize if this is posted somewhere else, I looked for a while and couldn't find anything related. I want to know how to use the advanced shortcut option in HelixLauncher2. Basically I would like to have the generic phone icon on my dock but instead of taking me to the Dialer I would like it to take me to my Call Log. I would also like to use the standard Contacts icon on my dock but would like it to always take me to my Favorites Contacts instead of All Contacts. Does anyone know how to set this up in the Advanced Shortcuts in HelixLauncher or know a different way to do it? Also if anyone knows if there is an easy way to use a different Icon for each of those?

Has anyone else noticed that the task killer doesn't seem to kill the tasks? I mean it does and it says that it freed up x memory, but when I open ATK again all my programs are shown to be open.
Also, when I open my browser, for example it restores the old page I was on. In the past I used ATK to kill it and when I opened it next time my home page would work. How can I go back to that?

I just rooted my droid to Liquid froyo 1.6. Everything is smooth except for SetCPU, it doesn't want to do anything for me. I made a widget, and whenever I try to change my speed, overclock or underclock it force closes, it won't let me do anything.

I downloaded and installed Bekit's 1GHz kernel and by default on SetCPU it shows it running at 1000MHz and such. But when I open SetCPU, it shows the bar maxed out at 528MHz with the Min at 245Mhz. And if I try and change it, it reverts the cpu back to 528MHz.I'm going to try another kernel (I checked to make sure I was in fact running Bekit's 1GHz kernel in the about phone), but can anyone explain this?long bench was 762ms, so I'm apt to think it's something with the display and that I am in fact overclocking correctly, yes? UPDATE: Sorry all I just uninstalled and reinstalled SetCPU and this corrected the discrepancy.

I know there was a discussion of using a temp monitor app back when Taz had kernels that could access it, but now that BB 1.0 uses BeKit is there an app that can monitor cpu temp again?
I think setCPU monitors battery temp which I guess is ok, but it's not perfect. Is there another program that monitors battery temp (if CPU temp not available) without using setCPU?

I am pretty happy with the stock 2.1 OTA.. But I would like to overclock the phone, and use a temp monitor to keep it safe.
I have looked around in the "all things root" and most post seem to be about putting on a different ROM.
Is there an easy way to just get Root access, and then put on SetCPU..

New to rooting and just got myself setCPU. I was wondering what some standard profiles that people use to maximize performance and battery life. So far I have it set to underclock when the screen is off and when less than a certain battery percentage. What temperature should I be looking at as "dangerous" to set my cpu to underclock then as well? Any other recommended profiles?
