View 7 RepliesGot setCPU. What should I do now? I used the SMUpdater. Is there any way to change the color of the status bar?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my EVO (Tonight!) I downloaded SetCPU so the processor will run faster when its awake and slower when its not. I can't for the life of me seem to figure out how the heck to get it to overclock. I don't see the word anywhere in the app, and the slide bar only goes up to 998 mhz (my Evo's max?) Is it in the other menu settings I don't quite get?
View 6 Replies View RelatedRooted my Vibrant pretty much as soon as I got it, installed SETCPU and while it did make my phone MUCH more responsive it was also causing problems.
I asked for help on XDA but most gave pretty vague answers, so I eventually ended up uninstalling it....
Well, anyhow, I found this really helpful post and now I am going to give SETCPU another shot. So if anyone else out there is having issues read this:

I just rooted my new Evo and installed SetCPU, i set up some profiles for when my battery reachs like <25 and i was testing this out at like <75 and noticed that even though the notification shows up as the profile is active, in systempanel app and also even in SetCPU is still shows the cpu reaching core speed of 998 instead of the speed it should be capped at...
So my question is, is setcpu actually working?
I want to state that I LOVE my phone and it perfectly does everything I need it for. I just have a minor problem. With all the tweaks I've done (and redone) I can't for the life of me get my phone to last more then 8 (or less) hours.
Here is my phone settings.
I'm rooted via the new root method (ota simple) from xda. It worked flawlessly and then I installed the dmg rom on the Battery Saver method. Got a little bit of time. THEN I purchased and followed the SetCPU program tweaks and did that to the T. I also have the following: GPS On. Mobile Internet on (no wifi or bluetooth).
I have all "Friends" syncing off but I have my gmail and work email on push (required via my job)
I have my brightness set to almost the lowest and I have to charge my phone about 2pm everyday otherwise my phone is dead.
Typical day: Wake up at 7am unplug phone. Check email/comics then go to work. I'm an IT sys admin and am required to have my phone/answer emails throughout the day. but at least 4 hours the phone is just sitting there or I'm lightly texting on it. But no matter how little or how often I use it it gets about 30% dead about 2pm with ALL the tweaks i've done.
This might make all the difference. I have LOW signal at work and home (1 little bitty bar to none). And my cell standby is almost always above 50%. But with all the tweaks (yes I've done the network app and yes its on CDMA) with PRL and profile updates (rooted and unrooted) it still has the problem.
I'm running a rooted Eris on nonsensikal 3.9. I just rooted last night and I'm very new to all this. When I first ran setcpu it gave me another root access error. So I went onto super controls and gave I access. Now whenever I run setcpu I'm. Able to move the slider only one time then it freezes everything so bad I have to pull battery.
View 32 Replies View RelatedCan anyone tell me whats the best settings for a newly rooted fascinate using setcpu? When I install it its set to min on both sliders. Not sure where I should start with it. Also I dont have any voodoo kernals loaded (yet) So I just want to get it set up to start playing around.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Droid with Droidmod 1.0. I just updated to the newest version and for some reason when i have my profiles on.It sets it to max of 384 and min of 250. The lowest max i have set in my profiles is 600 so how can it show max is 384.
I know this is something real easy.
Of course using auto-detect
set on boot checked
on-demand (main screen)
on-demand (profiles)
max on all profiles is set to 600 min 250.
Is there a free setcpu anywhere? (no credit or debit cards to buy the version in the market
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I am using one of the OC kernels (the ultra-low Chevy 1.2) is SetCPU necessary? If so under what circumstances?
View 5 Replies View Relatedjust as the title says, i set the max MHz at 1100 and as soon as it goes into sleep mode or i reboot it it resets at 900 I'm rooted and have p3droids standard voltage 1.1 kernel. whats up with this?
edit - yes i searched, very broad results. maybe could have found an answer after an hour of sifting through old threads.
I am using Nexbeast 1.0 and I have installed setcpu and advanced task manager. I hear that it messes up somehow but I haven't noticed any problems. In fact before I installed setcpu my phone kept on restarting due to overheating. Am i messing my phone up in a way I can't detect? Any clarification on this issue would be great.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my droid to Liquid froyo 1.6. Everything is smooth except for SetCPU, it doesn't want to do anything for me. I made a widget, and whenever I try to change my speed, overclock or underclock it force closes, it won't let me do anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone today, and tried using "SetCPU". I can't get the max slider to go over 550mhz. Any idea on whats going on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed Bekit's 1GHz kernel and by default on SetCPU it shows it running at 1000MHz and such. But when I open SetCPU, it shows the bar maxed out at 528MHz with the Min at 245Mhz. And if I try and change it, it reverts the cpu back to 528MHz.I'm going to try another kernel (I checked to make sure I was in fact running Bekit's 1GHz kernel in the about phone), but can anyone explain this?long bench was 762ms, so I'm apt to think it's something with the display and that I am in fact overclocking correctly, yes? UPDATE: Sorry all I just uninstalled and reinstalled SetCPU and this corrected the discrepancy.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally rooted my phone, and put froyo on with flash. works great. Now i want to overclock as well. What do you use for overclocking the cpu speed?? I've seen setcpu referenced...are there any alternatives???
Thanks!
I just downloaded setcpu and im using nexmod 1.0 and it only allows my max speed at 600 mhz. How do i get it up to 1000 or up?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and i am curently running the most recent sholes ROM and when i downloaded the setCPU app it only lets me change my frequency to the default and of course i want it to go higher.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI know there was a discussion of using a temp monitor app back when Taz had kernels that could access it, but now that BB 1.0 uses BeKit is there an app that can monitor cpu temp again?
I think setCPU monitors battery temp which I guess is ok, but it's not perfect. Is there another program that monitors battery temp (if CPU temp not available) without using setCPU?
I am pretty happy with the stock 2.1 OTA.. But I would like to overclock the phone, and use a temp monitor to keep it safe.
I have looked around in the "all things root" and most post seem to be about putting on a different ROM.
Is there an easy way to just get Root access, and then put on SetCPU..
New to rooting and just got myself setCPU. I was wondering what some standard profiles that people use to maximize performance and battery life. So far I have it set to underclock when the screen is off and when less than a certain battery percentage. What temperature should I be looking at as "dangerous" to set my cpu to underclock then as well? Any other recommended profiles?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is your guy's sampling rate on setcpu? It comes standard as 46875.. This is what it means if you don't know what it means.Sampling Rate is defined in microseconds. The lower this value, the more responsive the CPU will be in scaling its speed up or down. However, a lower sampling rate will also negatively impact overall performance.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running the bugless beast at 950 just wondering what profiles should I use.
View 31 Replies View RelatedI am using bb v1.0 and setcpu won't detect root. Other apps will but it will not. Why is this. How I fix it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Sampling Rate, Threshold, etc. What do they mean and what are some optimal settings? I have mine untouched from whatever was stock with the app. Just curious if these settings were worth messing with unless you were advanced user, much like the settings themselves.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright, so I've rooted using DroidMod (right, I know, easy way out, I was too afraid of bricking it doing it the hard way) and I've installed SetCPU, but for some reason, it will only let me clock up to 600mHz.Any ideas?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAny D1 using this app? Seems like you can set the speed anywhere from 250Mhz to 1Ghz and you can also tell it have different range when screen is off. Is this accurate and how does this compare to SetCPU? OverclockWidget (Need Root)
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith SetCPU? It does not save settings across reboots, so I have to go into it everytime and read just the sliders, even with "Set on boot" checked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone using SetCPU to enforce underclocking profiles with their X? I'm concerned about how hot the X gets when it's charging in the car dock and using Navigation. Would downclocking the cpu to 800MHz or 600MHz when the battery is above a certain temp (45C or so) make a difference? Has anyone noticed any battery gains from using other profiles?
