Seems like since 2.1 my Droid runs hot when doing extended surfing or using the car dock. It gets very hot in the car dock (with GPS and navigation running). Combine that with the heat effects of the sun and the Droid gets very hot. Any one else notice this? Seems like this would be bad for both the Droid and the Droid battery. Normal?

I'm on fabs rom..one of chevs kernels overclocked at 1.0ghz same setup i had on my last droid
i get phones run diff from one another but it seems to matter wat kernel i throw at this its running hotter and doing basic things like just some light browsing sometimes get the processor up to 42-44 c
any tips on something i can possibly try
I love my Droid X and I get awesome battery life under the right conditions. Using Tasker extends this even further, but even without a tasker profile today, I unplugged at 8am and at 4pm I was at 80 percent with moderate usage. This was after doing a full cycle charge last night. However, I'm greedy for more and I want to buy the extended battery but not sure where I can find it for a good price.

I also bought a new charger from asset for blackberrys because I lost mine and when it's conntected to that charger the touchscreen gets semi unresponsive. Should I return the charger? Also for the other people who have this battery how do you like it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedToday my battery was down to 20% after about 24 hours without a charge and little activity. I couldn't get an MP3 to play so I decided to do a re-boot. After re-boot the battery level went all the way up to 50% and with heavy MP3 play it is down to 40% after 2 hours of use. I'm running the 2.2 OTA sent by Verizon yesterday.Anyone else ever try a re-boot when the battery gets low? I found it very strange.

I got up this morning with a "charged" battery. I used the phone a little today but not alot. By 7 pm CST my battery was at 30%. Maybe one that has two profiles, and accurately reads both. I'd also prefer percentages in all numbers, not just 10s, but not a deal breaker. Anything out there? The descriptions on the apps themselves are not very in-depth and don't want to keep installing and taking off.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi just bought the official extended battery for the Droid x off of the verizon online store. the battery worked fine for the first day i bought it and now it makes my phone randomly shut off when i am using it. i can use my phone for about 5 - 10 minutes before the battery causes it to shut off randomly. i have no idea why it does this because it says the battery is fully charged and i had it in the charger over night and it still does this. i feel like i have wasted 50$ on this battery and i cant even use it now. does any one know if there is a way i can fix this?

I've always thought phones should do this, but I've never had one that did until now.It acts normal, as in still connects to data and voice, etc. I can't really see how this is too beneficial, but thinking back on the days of a blackberry, when those things' battery died the phone's data and voice would not turn on with or without the battery until about 20 minutes of charging.
View 22 Replies View RelatedIf I do the incorrect pattern enough times, will it lock me out of my Droid for an extended time period? How long? How many tries do I get? The reason I ask is because, the Droid (ANNOYINGLY) suffers from a slight lag when brought out of sleep mode. Basically EVERY TIME I try to wake it and quickly enter my pattern, I will be halfway through it and it will hit a lag spike I guess and stops reading that I am touching it, and the first half of the pattern I was entering will be counted as an incorrect pattern, and as I continue to finish the pattern, the second half will be counted as an incorrect pattern. Basically, I use up 2 tries, and I would hate for this to happen, and then I go to enter the actual pattern and I just make a mistake, and use my last try up. So do you get only 3 tries?

By extended numbers I mean ones where I have inserted a "w" between the number and say a password that allows me to continue into my voice mail once it has been answered (ex. 123-456-7890 w 1234). When I try to use one of these numbers, I get a message from Verizon saying the number cant be dialed. Apparently the Droid is not pausing where it should.

So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the car dock and I do not like it. I wish you could just set the phone in the car dock and have it charge without plugging in the charging cable separately. Would it be possible to use the multimedia dock as a car dock? It seems like the only difference is the polarity of the magnet. Can that easily be reversed (cut out and turned around)? I already have an adapter to plug the USB cable into. 3M makes a great double-sided automobile tape that would hold the dock to the dashboard. Anyone with a multimedia dock willing to try it out and report back?
