View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new here. I just got my droid yesterday. I looked threw the forums and I see people asking for apps that change how the slide works. Im okay with the sliding I just cant stand hitting the power button to turn on the phone. I wanted to know if theres a app test disables the need to hit the power button so all I have to do is slide my finger across the screen and it turns on? Sorry if somebody posted this I did look for the answer but I didn't see one.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy power button on my droid broke, like it is just "stuck" for some reason....will Verizon cover this under the standard one year manufacturer warranty??
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I've been dealing with the whole broken lock/power button issue for a while with my droid. Now I've been looking into rooting it and was looking into the directions on how to do it when i realized you need to use the lock/power button in the whole rooting process. Is there any way around this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedBiggest thing I'm concerned about...can the X be woken up by one of the front hard buttons? Without 3rd party app?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this but couldn't find a thread that discussed it. My power button appears as though its been jammed. I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.
I just got my Droid but the power button seems to feel mushy clicky instead of how a button should feel with a proper click when engaging. What about you guys? Mine like mushy click feel but if I press dead center then its a near perfect less mushy click.
View 31 Replies View RelatedIm sending in my droid to verizon since my power button was not working and they sent me a replacement. Before I sent it in I wanted to remove root so I went into rom manager and chose a stock image to flash hoping it would do the job. Unfortunately, after I did it Superuser permission is still there. I would just use RSD Lite but since I cant get my phone to access the boot loader screen I cant get RSD Lite to recognize my phone. I was going to try to flash the older stock image from rom manager thinking maybe that would work but now when I try and flash any rom through rom manager I get this message; "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands". I also read that maybe quick boot would do the trick but it just force closes every time, making me think that maybe the phone isnt rooted but just has superuser permission listed(is that possible)? Is my phone still rooted?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI've had my droid for about a week now and about two days ago the power button stopped working and is now completly unresponsive.I can't power off the phone without taking out the battery. Good thing that sliding the keyboard out wakes the screen so I can unlock it.I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or is it possible this is just a defect and I should get a replacement also I have tried doing the factory reset to see if it was some app I may have installed causing the problem but its still not working.
View 1 Replies View Relatedsame as with HTC desire, go to settings, accessibility, check power button ends call and you can now instantly end call by pressing the power button instead of waiting for the screen to light up then pressing end call
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I just got off the phone, and again I hit the sleep button to end the call, which doesn't actually end the call. So I was thinking, is there an app that will allow this? Or can someone make one? I would if I was able to, but I'm not so I'm asking. I guess I can't break the hardware button habit and move the the full touch future.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCouldn't find exactly what I was looking for in the forums. Yesterday, my home button stopped working on my Motorola Droid (1). It just gets really aggravating when I'm in the browser and I have to keep hitting back until it exits. Does anyone know if there is any way to fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust last week I finally rooted my Motorola Droid (thanks for the help)! All was good until today when I woke up and the power button didn't work.It was intermittently working this afternoon, and now it does nothing.I was ready to unroot the phone so I could take it back to Verizon when I realized that I can't get into the bootloader screen without the power button.I tried holding the D-pad up while reinstalling the battery and I also tried the camera and volume down buttons while reinstalling the battery. The battery removal and reinstall just doesn't seem to be working to put it into the bootloader screen.
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo i just got my replacement droid x. This one seems like the power button is hard to push? Why is this? Anyone notice this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy top power button is completely stuck, out of no where, no drops or anything, just seems like it is stuck in its housing. I tried everything, banging on table, xacto blade and prying up but nothing. Just doesn't budge. Replacement will be here in a couple days.
View 17 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know if its possible or what app would be used to have the optical button work the same as the power button on the top of the phone. so if you push the button it would light the display up. or maybe its not even possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy power/lock button no longer works. Phone hasn't been dropped, only had it for 3 days and it's been babied. I hoped pulling the battery and rebooting might help, but it didn't. In fact, after that the only way to get it to reboot was to plug it into my computer via USB.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been searching for an application to replace the need to press the power button up top in order to get the screen activated so that I can start using my phone once the screen powers off. I am hoping there is some kind of application that can do this just by changing the way the phone is held like if its accelerometer changes by a certain number of degrees or something like that.
View 49 Replies View RelatedAnybody out there see what I'm seeing? It seems as if the power/sleep button is a bit more recessed than the phone/talk button that pops out a little more. Could this just be from heavier use since I am always hitting the sleep button after phone use? Or, is this a HTC design to prevent you from hitting the button as easily. Not really a huge difference here just enough to feel if you run your finger over both of them. Wondering if it will get lower over time? Good ol' ocd flaring up again.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my Motorola Droid. Before when in the middle of a call or to hang up a call i just pull the phone away from my head and the screen would come on... or, i would have to use the power up button on the top of the device then swipe to unlock. Now in the middle of a call the power button is not working nor does the screen illuminate when i pull away from my head.
View 1 Replies View RelatedReceived my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set a different button to turn the screen on to unlock the phone? An app or anywhere in settings?I hate touching the top button to turn on screen. What would be ideal is hitting a pattern on the bottom 4 buttons and then it unlock even without the swipe.Say my code is like hitting search twice then menu once then home once and the phone comes on.No swipe necessary.
View 20 Replies View RelatedA couple of times now my wildfire wont power on via the power button. The only way to get it to work is to remove the battery and put it back in again. The battery is seated fine and the contacts are all clean and intact.Any ideas ?
View 1 Replies View Relatedthe worst thing about the nexus one is that you power on the phone by simply pressing the power button, not by *holding* it. how can I just *check* if the phone is turned off? when i go to a movie, i just want to double-check it's off, so i short-press power button but then if it's already off then i would instead be turning it on and have to wait for the long boot-up process. i just can't "make sure it's off".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would gladly pay money (and i'm sure a lot of eris -> incredible users would too) for an app/patch to give me the option to use an alternative key/button (menu/home button, or even vol rocker?) to wake up the phone when it's in sleep mode. It was one of the major reasons why I ended up returning the moto droid for an eris (the eris has a power button on the bottom of the phone). Would root be required for this kind of mod?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith increasing frequency, pressing the power button on my HTC desire running Froyo only dims the screen, it doesnt put it into standby. This never happened until recently but is now quite a regular thing. In order to put it into stand by i have to press the button several times before it decides to do what I'm telling it to.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAny one know a better why to wake the HTC incredible up, then hitting power button?
View 11 Replies View RelatedOne big problem I've noticed is that when you need to have your phone switched off (e.g. on an aircraft, etc.) it's all too easy for the phone to switch itself on whilst in your pocket - the "power on" button just needs the slightest tap and then it springs into life.I know whilst on a plane I could pre-set it to in-flight mode before powering it off, but that's not the point. Like when powering the phone off, there is a delay and a set of menu options. I'd like something similar for powering the phone on - programmable delay and/or combination of pressing say home and the "power on" button.Does anyone know of an app or some code I could run to alter the way the phone behaves ?. Not sure if the only way to add this functionality is part of a flash update as it needs to survive a power off, etc.
