does anyone know if its possible or what app would be used to have the optical button work the same as the power button on the top of the phone. so if you push the button it would light the display up. or maybe its not even possible.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI would gladly pay money (and i'm sure a lot of eris -> incredible users would too) for an app/patch to give me the option to use an alternative key/button (menu/home button, or even vol rocker?) to wake up the phone when it's in sleep mode. It was one of the major reasons why I ended up returning the moto droid for an eris (the eris has a power button on the bottom of the phone). Would root be required for this kind of mod?

I find the power button to be annoying and wish both would "wake-up" the screen.
I could not charge the handset and it automatically powered down last night. Thereafter I restarted it again without charging it and as expected it powered down after a few minutes.This morning I plugged in the handset for charging and then pressed the power button to put the handset in to 'sleep', to my surprise it did not work. I ignored it and left it for charging and when I checked back the handset had automatically gone to 'sleep'. I tried to wake it up by pressing the power button, but it did not work.The only way I can wake up the handset is either by calling it or plugging in the charger. I tried all of the following but none of them worked.
1. Removed the battery and left the handset for a few minutes and restarted it.
2. Removed the SD card and restarted it.
3. Removed the SIM card and restarted it.
4. Removed both the SD and SIM cards and restarted it.
i bought the evo a few weeks after it came out and its always had a problem with the power button. i was told that it would be replaced but at the time the evo was at such a high demand i had to wait. so in that time the button worked great and i forgot about it. well no its to the point that i cant even get it out of standby without using the usb cable. and i don't have the 30 days on it anymore or insurance..

I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.

I searched about nexus since it is similar and saw a few things about the app LOCKBOT, i recommend you atleast try the free version and see, it gives you unlock with the trackpad button and the ability to do custom lockscreen with different styles like Iphone, and different android locks. THis was one grip i didnt like about sense. Stock Android has the ability to swipe to unlock or swipe the other way to mute sounds, which is a nice feature, although i prefer my iphones switch the best
The bad...Ive read stuff about it crashing and being laggy, now i havnt experiended this on the INC, it runs super smooth. But i have been having a few times where the front button will not unlock the phone, maybe an update will fix this or something, but its worth a shot to look at.
Is it at all possible to end phone calls by pressing the power button on the top of the phone? I got used to this on my girlfriend's iPhone and like it a lot better than ending the call by pressing the screen. Is there an app for this? Or a setting?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem I've noticed lately that is just killing my battery life. My Incredible never dims on its own. If I press the power button the screen will shut off but lets say I get a text and then I hit the power button, the screen comes on. I respond to the text and then hit home and put my phone down on the desk. The screen will stay on indefinitely. Not charging, completely unplugged the screen will just stay on. Has anyone run accross this and does anyone have any ideas on how to get it to time out again?

Has anyone noticed that when you hold the power button, the Silent Mode will be listed as ON when the volume is on? Isn't this backwords? Then to silent the phone, I tap the Silent mode, and it switches to OFF and then the phone is silent (with the (/) through a music note in the taskbar)

It seems weird that you can do one, but not the other, and I'd rather just press the button facing me, than have to pick my phone up to use the power button. Just to kill the screen.
the worst thing about the nexus one is that you power on the phone by simply pressing the power button, not by *holding* it. how can I just *check* if the phone is turned off? when i go to a movie, i just want to double-check it's off, so i short-press power button but then if it's already off then i would instead be turning it on and have to wait for the long boot-up process. i just can't "make sure it's off".

Im okay with the sliding I just cant stand hitting the power button to turn on the phone. I wanted to know if theres a app test disables the need to hit the power button so all I have to do is slide my finger across the screen and it turns on? This never happened until recently but is now quite a regular thing. In order to put it into stand by i have to press the button several times before it decides to do what I'm telling it to.
