I had my phone rooted just running stock 2.2, last night an OTA came to my phone while I was at work, and my brother (doesn't know anything about root) accepted the update. Now whenever I try to do something in Rom Manager I get an error message :"an error occurred while attempting to run privalaged commands." Set CPU does not work, and Super User is still in my app drawer.
Does anyone know whats going on, it appears my phone is no longer rooted, but I still have SU in my app drawer, how can I fix this? Is there a way to completely unroot my phone? or revert back to where I was before the OTA? Everytime I try to load Rom Manager and restore my phone it gets stuck with a picture of a phone and a "!" mark.
Does overclocking your droid to lets say 800mhz or 1000mhz overheat it? Or will it cause any damage to it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was running a custom 2.2 rom with clockwork recovery installed via Rom Manager.
Anyways, I started having a few problems so I was going to take it to stock and redo everything.
I have the stock 2.1 sbf file and I put it back to my phone using RSD lite.
It installed fine except it changed my PRL number to some weird higher number and now I can't get my phone to activate because it has the roaming triangle and is roaming on US Cellular.
I reinstalled my custom rom and used rom manager to restore the image I had saved before I recovered and all is well except I cannot activate my phone because I can't see a verizon network.
I even went into the programming menu and replaced the SID, MDN and MIN with all the settings in my Droid X but no dice.
I have found a way to write a new PRL but I can't get the HW virtual port app to work. So basically I am stuck.
The title pretty much says it all. i'm currently rooted running a 2.2 rom. if i update to the stock 2.2 this week will it do anything to my phone or will it be running as it should?
i have never got everything working quite right with this rom and would like to go back to stock (once its 2.2 anyway) and not have to worry about the hassle.
I've noticed that a lot of my apps (skype mobile, email, gmail, etc) keep booting up when I don't turn them on. I know that there just checking for updates and doing there job, but I would really prefer it if I could run the updates manually and save the phone's very limited RAM.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am now stuck at the startup m. I was rooted running 2.1 with titanium backup, clockwork recovery and tthe kousch botstrapper installed. The first thing I did with clockwork was to tell it to make a recovery file. Today I threw the bootstrapper apk folder on the sd card and had it install. then I put the fly-x rom on the sdcard in teh clockwork folder, opened the bootstrap app and told it to boot into recovery.
Once in recovery I had it apply the fly-x rom.zip and everything seemed to go fine. no dice, stuck at the logo. pulled battery tried again, same result. got back into the bootstrap launcher and told it to boot the recovery.zip file I created. all seemed to go fine. Reboot and get the same screen.
I am developing an android app w/ Eclipse.Whenever I run the app on my phone or the emulator, four application icons are installed on the device.I am guessing it is related to my manifest file which has three activities (3 are for tabs).When I uninstall the app, all of the icons are removed from the phone.Upon a reinstall, all four show back up.

My handset crashed for some reason and would not boot, so I figured while I had my hard cover pried off to pull the battery, I would give Z4Root a shot. Ironically, it worked without me having to pull my battery. Anyway, as I said, Z4Root worked great, but I after I installed ROM Manager, it keeps giving me an error about not being able to flash the recovery image. Am I doing something wrong here?

Thought that I share these incase someone was curious. I have a Android 2.1 Motorola Milestone. Its interesting to note that at 1000mhz when compared against the online database of benchmark results the Milestone placed higher than the Nexus 2.1. Though of course the nexus 2.2 still lead the charts.

Got my X on launch day, ran the first leak .zip and reverted back to push the OTA onto my phone without a single problem (when the leak initially came out I saved all the appropriate files needed to revert before they were blacklisted). I have never rooted on any version of Android. Mainly because I just wasn't familiar enough with the know-how and I'm not going to Verizon crying because I bricked my phone claiming insurance replacement. SO - heres the run down, I've been working on PCs since 92, mostly Microsoft based, I'm very familiar with anything up to XP Pro, which I run on most of my machines (until I get a hold of a Windows 7 disc - I don't like Vista at all) I'm also very familiar with DOS commands when OSs used to be DOS based. I want to really get into Android and their operating system and learn a lot more about how it all works, after owning a Storm this really is a large step. I've always been running LP and Fancy Widgets to create the Incredibleist UI (the only thing I liked about the Dinc). I've become pretty familiar with navigating around with Astro, and terminal emulator but as you all know only so much can be achieved when not rooted.

I don't have bootstrap, clockwork mod or original z4 installed but it seems it's still rooted. I still seem to have the super user app installed. What can I do know to wipe it...and install a new update?
At first I thought it was a battery problem but just recently I booted up fine. The phone was working great as usual, but I loaded up eBuddy and went into landscape view by pulling out the keyboard, my phone locks up. I had to do a battery pull, and now when I try to turn on the phone, it just shows a black lite-up screen. This exact thing happened not 2 days ago when my battery was very low, but this time my battery was fully charged. Also, the phone won't 'turn on' now.

For example the corporate calendar shows on when check to make sure no apps are running so I have to hit the kill apps button to stop it until it decides to come on again. I flash and then I install the ROM and everything goes well until the boot up screen. It gets stuck in a loop of the Droid and Droid Eye animation and I have to restore it. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I am using the Droid with Froyo, rooted using Easy Root.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAlright so I was on froyo stock image frg01b rooted. I tried to install nextheme over it. I tried to go into recovery, but got the exclamation point. Went back into froyo, flash the alternative recovery, then flashed back to clockwork. It goes into recovery fine now.

Now try to go back into recovery to flash backup. It wont go into CW and now I see an exclamation point. Now I went into the stock recovery menu, wiped data did factory reset. Wiped cache.

What did I do?
I tried putting stock 2.1 on SD and renamed it update.zip and tried to flash with the stock recovery, but it says failed to access /sdcard .zip and then go back to the (stock) recovery menu. Clockword is gone and so is any and all ROMs.
Well I have issues. I always think that my phone isn't running the way it should or could. I have installed many apps and uninstalled a couple. But I have noticed that my browser will force close about every other time I use it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy phone isn't jacked (yet) like most people have theirs. I do have the Motorola Droid. The only thing i've done to it was Trident's version of forcing the 1st and 2nd updates through the phone itself. So i do have the FRG22D build #. I've also changed the call quality setting. So there really isn't anything that would be taxing the OS of this phone.

I never did anything with it, never loaded any Roms (planed on it, just never got around to it) When 2.1 came out, I did the OTA. After the OTA, I still have the "super user" ninja icon. Now I want to jump on the 2.2 bandwagon and I need root. But do I still have root? how can I tell?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the original phone, I went back to stock using the "live without fear" .sbf file, to 2.01. I had attempted to also let it do the 2.1 update but it continually gets stuck on the M and won't proceed past that, so I again put the 2.01 sbf file on, and let the phone get to the "touch the droid to begin" screen.The phone has the original recovery on it, the box and explanation mark, no SPRecovery or clockwork.Can Verizon tell at this point that the phone was previously routed and charge me full price for the replacement?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy droids battery life has been miserable and overall the phone has been acting pretty flaky lately. I recently went back to rooted 2.0.1 after running the cyanagen rom. I re enabled OTA and want to just try stock 2.1 for now and see if it fixes my problems before I take it into verizon. After I enabled OTA's it downloaded the file and asked if I wanted to install the update which I said yes to. Phone shut down and restarted and ended up on the Clockwork Recovery screen. I said to reboot and the phone just comes back up in a rooted 2.0.1 version still. It says its running 2.0.1 and the system is up to date.Whats the easiest way to get to 2.1 and unroot? Help please!

My droid is rooted and I have run the 2.1 rom but I switched back to 2.0.1 because of some issues with the rom. I am hoping it is just a matter of swapping out the Nandroid files like I did when I returned to 2.0.1. I am missing the cool features of 2.1!
