Aug 9, 2010Last week I forced the OTA 2.2 for droid and now my phone is almost unusable. It was "kinda laggy" right after the update but now it is a 2 second delay just to get numbers to type in on the dial pad. It makes me wish I had waited.
I did notice that EVERYTHING is starting in the background when I look at my task killer. If I kill everything then it runs smooth for maybe 30 secs before everything starts back up again.
Is my slowness being caused by this or is there something else I can do to make is usable again. I am really hoping that FRG22 fixes this major problem for me as I loved my droid before but almost want to toss it out the window now.
Kills me waiting 5-10 secs for handcent to even startup.
Motorola Droid :: Can I Root OTA FRG01B Using A Mac Running OS X
Aug 8, 2010Alright, I've browsed the site a bit and have been lurking for a couple weeks now. I also did some google searching that wasn't entirely helpful. I'm looking to root my Droid currently running the OTA Froyo update, but I'm unable to find instructions for doing this with a Mac. Buying the Easy Root key is kind of out of the question ($0.78 in the checking account - college is great), so I'm turning to your infinite wisdom for help. I'm basically looking for a sequence of steps/the links and downloads I will need. Has anyone else already done this? I'm new to the rooting concept, but it sounds like it's worth it.

Sep 16, 20101. force updated to froyo FRG01B 2. got email to work with corporate exchange server 3. force updated to froyo FRG22D 4. email still working 5. 2 weeks later, had to change password due to corporate policy 6. email no longer works, can't change password on the phone, dies with "force close" option 7. factory reset 8. can't configure email to work at all 9. had to download "improved email" to get it working. Interesting that only when I had to change password before it blew up.

Aug 11, 2010This is what I'm dealing with. I Used astro to get my droid into the 2.2 FRG01B but I'm NOT rooted from stocked 2.1 just like in the Guide but i didn't Backup any files or i don't have SPRecovery, or anything like that. My recover screen reads as follow;
1:Reboot
2:apply update.zip (which is what i did the first time to get to 2.2)
3:wipe date/Factory reset
4:Wipe Cache partition
5:wipe baseband data
As you can see i don't have install or anything of that nature. Now my question is, is there a way to get me back to 2.1 Stocked like when i got it or am i pretty much screwed with what i've done? If i haven't totally messed up can somebody provide a step by step so i don't mess anything up further.

I do not wish to root.I apoligize in advance if this is a repeat but I have yet to find an answer anywhere regarding this issue.Let me also say I am sorry in advance for my horrid ghrammer and spelling. On to the show.I have searched and scoured and burned my eyeballs trying to find a way to upgrade to FRG22. I am one of those who have been having lag and issues with my 2.2 upgrade. (it is sexy as hell though to look at and flash is ok. Not awesome of course. Fast moving video and demanding games and FLASH based video arnt the greatest, some damn choppy enough to make ur stomach turn but its a start and further than we were a month ago) Anyways back to the task at hand.I have downloaded the FRG22-Release or ODEXED version of FRG22 and wish to install it on my Droid. I have downloaded 2 zip files for this and renamed them update.zip and tried it with them in their original file names. I get the e:verification sig error and install aborted each time. I also did not have BOTH on the phone at the same time. IF i applied one I removed the other.
I noticed between these 2 they are different file sizes as well so I dont know if that has anything to do with it. I followed Tridents Instructions to get to the menu to install the update. And YES i did use the FRG22 zip files to update not the original froyo release trident has as the first post on his forced update.I would just like to know 2 things. 1.)Is it possible for NON ROOTED users to update to FRG22. and 2.) If it is and I have the correct file. Which do I use and what am I doing wrong to not make this work out for myself?

Aug 23, 2010I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is regarding the BBV0.4 and the rooted stock FRG22. I have had BBV0.4, 928 black glass theme, running @ 1.1GHz for a while now and I have no complaints. Would it be worth it to switch to the stock rooted FRG22, or wait for the devs to put out custom ROMs based on FRG22. I know they put some nice tweaks in the custom ROMs. I'm feeling the itch to switch, but I don't want to do it for no real advantages.

Sep 13, 2010Yes i recently had to flash my phone back to 2.1 which i did in a flash then i waited till it did a normal update to which i though would be FRG1B but to my surprise it was FRG22. Now i installed Easy Root and tried rooting it said it worked but it didn't so then i tried Universalandriodroot and it didn't work either.Now i tried to flash back to 2.1 and then just root from there but this is were my problem happens. When i try to Flash i do the normal plug up usb and restart phone and while waiting on it to boot hold up on the D Pad and Nothing happens i did this 15 times it will not go into the menu at all.

Aug 18, 2010Ive upgraded my Droid to FRG22 a couple of weeks ago and it works great in all respects. One issue I have is not been able to find the Verizon apps for the FiOS DVR and Remote Control. Aug 8, 2010After having upgraded to Smoked Glass, I had it on my phone for no longer than 30 minutes when I was hit with a new OTA notification.
I have already downloaded the file, and it is FRG01B again. The difference, though, is that, instead of patching a ton of files on the fly during the install, which is how the old one worked, this one simply formats System and then copies the entire contents of system from the .ZIP to your phone.
Be that as it may, it looks like I *somehow* got a notification for a full ROM update from VZW.
Again, like I said, it is FRG01B - but the good news is that this is a full ROM, and for those having issues with the previous one, which makes sure you have ESE81 (2.1) installed on your phone, this one does *not*.
Theoretically, I should be able to install this over any previous version of Android - which I am about to test right now.

Oct 4, 2010Before my current setup I was using CyanogenMod and their custom version of LauncherPro. It had been updated with new icons, which were similar in shape to the defaults, but had much more detail and color/shading to give them a slight 3D effect.
Well, recently I switched to Dew's smoked glass ROM and was getting stuck in never ending loops with a message stating my current version of LauncherPro had "expired" and I had to finally remove it and DL the current app store version. Ok so thats fine, except its so boring now... function-wise its as awesome as ever but its just so BLAH.
I am looking for icon packs that I might be able to use with the new version of LP, but it seems none of them on the app store have preview images. I am trying to get it to look like this. If you know of a similar icon pack.

Aug 19, 2010I plan to go to verizon later today to see what they say, but i anticipate little to no help from them... so i decided to post this here. i tried the forced update to the stock 2.2 a couple weeks ago to no avail... kept getting this error every time i tried:

Installation Aborted, so i decided to wait for the OTA update... had it waiting for me when i got up this morning... pressed install and let it go to work... came back 20 minutes later and it was still on the triangle w/ exclamation logo... so i let it sit longer... came back yet another 10 minutes later it was on the Motorola logo and just stayed there for about 5+ minutes (i let it sit for awhile to make sure it was done) so i took out the battery and restarted... and no update still "2.1 Update 1" now what do i do?

Aug 21, 2010I got the OTA 2.2 a day or so ago. I have discovered the app "voice searce" I then downloaded the app in the market. I then viewed the short intro and then I tried it out It took a while and I had to ask for help on this forum but finally I got it to sort of working. I decided to send a test text to my wife so I tapped on the app and once it loaded I said "send text to xxxxxxxxx" (my wife's name) "This is a test" After it read my voice I got a screen that looked like this to: xxxxxxxxxxxx (my wife's name as listed on my contact list)
message:This is a test I then tapped on the send button and then Sorry The application Voice Search(process.com.google.android.voicesearch) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
I had tried this over and over again and I always get the same message.
