Motorola Droid :: March Madness On Devices?
Mar 15, 2010
I've been searching for a way to watch the upcoming college basketball tournament on my Droid. I know that CBS put out an app for iPhones allowing iPhone users to stream every single game as well as view brackets, trash talk and post on facebook and twitter, and number of other things. I know there is not an app for android users to stream games, my question is, does anyone know of a site that will stream the games that DOES NOT require flash player? Or if anyone has another idea I'd love to hear it! Round 1 starts Thursday and I'll be stuck in an office. I'd rather use my computer for work and stream the games on my phone.

They are at the final battle. It looks like we might have a fight on our hands since the Palm Pre just got the free hot-spot options from Verizon. March Smart Phone Madness Finals: Motorola Droid vs. Palm Pre Plus
The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!

I have a so called reliable resource who works in the T-mobile store, and so far he has been right about anything to do with G1. He predicted the OTA release, and that was right, but he has also said T- mobile will be releasing the cupcake to t-mobile customers in uk end of March. Of course all i/we can do is wait. if anyone has any information to back that claim it would be appreciated. I know there's loads of cupcake talk that has been going on for months. but i believe this is the real thing, else he wouldn't jeapordise these claims to get people to buy the G1 and then get hundreds of complaints if it didnt happen

I would like to thank my Ipod for a solid four years of music playing, however I regret to inform everyone that my droid murdered it last night. It now rest in peace in my computer desk drawer for the rest of eternity. Now that I have the droid I have no use for it, and am happy I don't have to carry the damn thing around. I also lay to rest my LG dare, you were great for the year I had you but honestly, you were just a plain old phone with a touch screen. You will (not) be missed.

Best phone I've ever owned. I didn't really care about the Nexus One but I will admit the Incredible release miffed me a bit since it's just so fast.if the battery life was comparable I could see myself eventually upgrading MAYBE.I'm not jumping ship anytime soon but I was just curious if I did manage to get a cheap Incredible is it an easy process to switch devices? Do you just bring it in to the store and have them do it? Any fees associated with this? Like I said I'm sticking with my Droid for a long time just curious what the options are

I did a search and all I came up with is people trying to stream audio via bluetooth. One of the nice features I am a little envious of the ipods having is that about every stereo out there has an interface to control the ipod remotely. Is there anything similar available that works via the USB for android devices?

This error is driving me partially insane, it only surfaces on motorola droid / milestone devices, it works flawlessly on the hero and g1. Not got a droid to test it on so have to go on the crash reports in the android market. If you can shed any light onto this matter, I have gone through every db open and made sure it was closed.

I am developing my am on mac (10.5.8), on eclipse and SDK 1.6 and a Vodafone HTC Magic Everything was working ok up to a few days ago. I can not see my device on adb devices. I also got a Sony Xperia and I can not see it on the list either. I upgraded the phone software (the HTC) to 1.6 a few days ago. Maybe that is what caused the change, but I could not be sure.

I want to run C# programs on my HTC Magic, I can find the mono app on the Android market but I have no clue on how to run C# using. The code is just for fun, I don't want official support and such. After coding Visual Basic on windows mobile, I really want to code C# on Android, whether directly using some sort of editor if exists, or compiling it on a PC then installing it on Android. If anyone knows a way to do such please let me know.

I'm not *entirely* sure this one is supposed to go here, but anyway :)
Assuming I have two Android-powered devices, connected both to the same 3G network; does the current API of Android allow to have a Service running on one of them being contacted by an Application running on the other one over this 3G network or do I have to go for a more traditional network (e.g. WiFi AP, Bluetooth) ? If so, how do I do it ?
I saw the usual Socket part in the API but it is not clear to me whether this is the way to use the 3G. I also found another discussion related to communication between a laptop and a dev phone ("Sending data to android dev phone using 3G connection") so it seems to be possible.
Does anyone have some details about how to do this?

What are the options to connect (create stream? or send datagrams?) between two android devices? (I know I can use Internet, but i think that lag will be big and it's overuse to just exchange data between to phones that are nearby). Is it possible to use bluetooth or wifi ? so two applications on two devices can connect each other (create bi- directional stream) and send some data.

I'm developing a little program which syncs some of the users data from my app on the cloud (just a load of strings, but that's not the point).
To help identify each device uniquely I would like to use the IMEI (or ESN number for CDMA devices) ...so here is the question, does anyone know how to access this programmatically?

Does anyone know, if vendors provide or if there is a site where one could download AVD profiles for existing android devices on the market so you can run your apps in the emulator and basically see how they will run on said devices?
I know it's pretty easy to create a new device but it'd be great if one could just download the config file for each device and run it.

I've accepted for a while now that it's impossible to silently install an application on Android - that is, to have a program install an application bundled as an APK without providing the standard OS installation prompt and going through the app installer activity. But now I've picked up a copy of the Appbrain fast web installer, and it does exactly this.
How on earth is this possible?
