I keep getting a network error using both wifi and 3G; definitely know that both of my connections are good using them for everything else. Anybody else?

Lately it seems as though every time I tried to use the Market ,Slacker radio or Pandora radio I have problems staying connected to the network. Even with a fairly decent wifi signal I receive a network error message. My phone is completely stock other than Apps I have downloaded.

Is anyone else experiencing this annoying error regularly when trying to use the Market ?
"A network error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen."
I've been getting this for the last few weeks both on wifi & 3g, always when I have good connectivity on both voice and data.
I can see a few posts about it on the net going back to last year (none with any solutions) but I just wondered if it's affecting people on-mass (if so then it's obviously a network issue as it says).
I can usually hit Retry a few times and it eventually works but it can take several attempts.
Can't get into android market anyone have this problem yet.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought 2 Droids and they are about 4 days old. Since the first day we have gotten them we have been getting this message, "a network error has occurred retry or cancel and return to the previous screen." This happens 2 or 3 times a day at least over 3G and wifi. Anything using the Internet won't work including the market and the browser. From what I have researched a lot of people have been getting this error but I haven't found a fix yet, anybody know what I could do?

My friend was using my phone and he stopped some running services, since then my phone's wi-fi and GPRS not working, I have already tried restoring it to factory reset , but it doesn't work even after restoring phone to factory settings. Phone just keeps on searching wi fi network and in GPRS mode it shows network connection error.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I've had my HTC Hero, the internet connection has been really flaky. That is, about half the time it works ok, but with a slow start, and the other half it doesn't work at all, and comes up with either a "cannot find page" in the browser, or "a network error has occurred" in Market or other apps.
I bought into the Hero thing because I wanted a mobile internet device and my iPhone wasn't cutting it with the lack of Flash. But at least my iPhone always worked!
The problem I'm having is this:
No matter whether I'm on wifi or not, browsing for a webpage in any of the available browsers (standard, steel, dolphin), has a delay of about 5 seconds, and then either starts loading the page, or comes up with some kind of "page not found" error. This happens with all websites, including the home page of google, which isn't exactly big or unreliable, except on my Hero.
Also, any app that uses an internet connection, such as Market, more often than not comes up with "a network error has occurred". Clicking "retry" rarely works.
Now if it was just through wifi, I would think it might be the setup of the routers that I've tried it on, allthough I've tried it on 3 completely different types of router, all with same symptoms.
I've also done much testing with wifi switched off, and still the same issues.
I could understand it if it just didn't work ever under either wifi or other, but sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
I have done my wifi tests while sitting right next to the routers, with maximum signal reception being indicated.
Ok, so it tells me that "a network error has occurred". Is there some way of finding out exactly what the error was? Was it a timeout, or a DNS error, or what?
Has anyone else had a issue with there phone saying it only has signal 50% of the time and also network location not working while running the latest build of Bugless Beat .2.1?
View 12 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having issues using the GV app on their Droid? I haven't been able to send or receive any SMS messages through the GV app all morning. Actually, it's been giving me troubles the last couple of days. I'm able to send and receive SMS messages from voice.google.com, and because I'm forwarding SMS messages to my Gmail, I'm still getting notifications, but the GV app itself is still acting funky. I try to refresh, but all I get is "Network Error". I've also tried logging out and logging back in, as well as a re-boot on the Droid itself, all to no avail. Am I the only one having issues or are any of you peoples noticing some funkiness as well? EDIT: Of course, 2 min. after I posted this, I got some new GV notifications and was able to send an SMS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a search and couldn't really find any threads with people having similar issues. I saw that people were having trouble keeping their X connected to a network, but that's not my issue.
I have a Droid Incredible and added a line to get the X figuring I'd just sell off the Inc when my X arrived. Since I got my X, I've noticed that when I am connected to a wifi network, it almost seems to crawl when I hop around from page to page.
I ran some speed tests on my internet connection, it seemed that it was my phone. So then I ran speed tests with the app in the marketplace, first on the DInc and then on X. The upload speeds were pretty close to identical, but the download speeds were consistently 300 kbps higher on the Droid Incredible.
So after running those tests, I decided to just do some side by side browsing on the X and Inc to see how big the difference was between the two. I opened up a few pages that I don't ever really visit so they weren't in my browsing history and the Incredible would again open pages 10-15 seconds quicker.
Has anyone else had these same issues? I know their was a software release shortly after the initial launch, is their another one in the pipeline?
I love the phone, it's a multimedia beast. But I don't think I want to keep one that has a busted wifi connection.
Anyone have a problem connecting to a network with a hidden SSID? My wife can connect to our router fine with her Droid INc (wireless N router). But i can't unless i enable broadcasting the SSID. I found the hidden SSID enabler app, and going to try that. If that doesn't work does anyone else have any ideas? If i enable SSID broadcast i connect right away. If i disable it, i lose the connection and it is "out of range". Very annoying as i live in a condo unit with 10 other wifi networks in my range. Would like to keep my netwrok as private as possible.

Is there a better widget to use, if that's how it works? I didn't notice this in 2.1. Those seemed to be on all the time.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been getting an error message all day. everytime I try to go into the market to update apps I get the message "A server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen." I can hit retry 42 million times and it will not connect.
I've rebooted, pulled the battery, cleared the cache, I even tried uninstalling the market updates; figuring that it would connect and I could re-update, but nothing has worked.
I get a "network error while trying to sign into <my gmail account>" when trying to use the market, even thoug I am successfully synching contacts and using the calendar which is linked to my gmail account.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am struggling to connect to my home wifi network. I very occasionally can connect but there seems to be no obvious method to the madness just some black magic. Basically it sees my network it has remembered the key, the key is correct, and it says disconnected. I press connect and nothing happens at all but sometimes it will say "connecting..." then it will immediately say disconnected. I have a belkin router and my network is secured using WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES encryption. I have tried using APNDroid to turn off my mobile internet before using wifi and that sometimes works but that seems to be more black magic than a solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got myself a Samsung Galaxy S. And decided to sell my Milestone to a guy. So when he is testing out the phone the WiFi doesn't scan his office WiFi. It scan every WiFi around us except the office WiFi. I use my Milestone's WiFi all the time. And all the time it scan and detect all the WiFi. Infact 30 mins before the sale I was using the Milestone's WiFi at school to find a map to his place.
Weird thing is when I use my Galaxy S to scan WiFi, it scanned all the WiFi and his office's WiFi too. So does anyone know why my Milestone is able to scan everyone else WiFi except his office's WiFi? It couldn't be hidden because my Galaxy S was about to scan his WiFi. This is extremely bad luck, because I know my Milestone is in perfect working condition and now he would think I'm scamming him.
Just picked up an unlocked Milestone and I popped in my prepaid T-Mobile card and I have my home WiFi network bur for data on the go I need to use the 3G connection of my iPad via WiFi. Problem is that the WiFi network it creates is an AdHoc one and as I found Android can't connect to AdHoc networks by default. Standard on WinMp and iOS so what possessed them to do that?
After some digging around I found a guide to enable AdHoc on rooted Androphones How to connect an android phone to your ad-hoc wi-fi network | Wissam Idrissi so I spent a few hours rooting and installing the proper apps. No go though, my AdHoc network does appear in the list with MySSD : "Not in range, remembered" but it never connects. Has anyone managed to connect to an AdHoc network on a Milestone with 2.1?
Does anyone know if I activate the Wifi connection it trumps the carrier network connection? In other words, if the Wifi connection is active (assuming i have a signal) and my carrier signal is also active, and I want to stream some audio--which pipe does the phone use to bring in the audio?

So my droid eris won't connect to my wifi network. I have a dual band netgear router. It works with everything else except the eris. my xbox 360, nintendo wii, macbook pro, and multiple windows computers all work fine. My itouch connects to it nd so do all my other friend's android phones. I know my wifi on my phone works because I can use it on any other network. It seems to me that the wifi driver (do phones have drivers) needs to be updated. Is this possible?

My 3g just all of a sudden stopped connecting.It says: "Stand by for connecting to mobile network". Not to mention the incorrect grammar, but what the hell? This is the reason I bought a smart phone. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Eris with Android v. 2.1 and a Belkin 54g router. The phone lists my home network in its list of of wifi networks. When I press the entry, an info box says that signal strength is good and security is open. (for the purpose of trying to have my phone connect). When I press "connect," it says "Obtaining IP address." Then after a couple of minutes, it says "Unsuccessful."
My phone has connected to other WiFi networks with no problem; indeed, it has done so automatically, with no effort on my part. My router assigns IP addresses via DHCP. It also broadcasts its SSID, which the phone recognizes.
Ever since flashing the 2.1 leaks (V1 and then V2), I have not been able to connect to my university's WPA2-enterprise wireless network. After I enter my login info (the network uses PEAP with MSCHAPv2, so it doesn't need any certificates), the phone connects as expected and gets a valid IP address, verifiable with netcfg. Before any traffic is allowed to pass to the outside world, however, the device connecting has to go to an authentication page in a browser. When I attempt to go to that page, I get an error titled "Data Connectivity Problem" that states "A secure connection could not be established" which only presents an option to acknowledge the error.
Since I can't load that authentication page, the network is entirely unusable. I did not encounter this problem with 1.5, but since I'm running the V2 leak, reverting is not an option.Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? I can't identify if the problem is in the actual link not being established properly (seems unlikely, as the phone is given an IP address, but perhaps the PEAP layer is having some sort of issue?) or if it has to do with the SSL certificates used for the network authentication page (they're signed, but I'm fairly certain that the name if the site they're signed for is not the name that they've given the new auth server).
