So its pretty simple. Do you use autokiller? Does it seem to boost the performance of your phone? Chime in, good, bad, or indifferent.

Now I have Juice Defender on my phone. It's running with the battery lasting 2x as much. Now, I have finally rooted my phone and now I use setCPU and AutoKiller on Optimized. Is it worth it to have Juice Defender?

I notice that Spare Parts came with a Task Management option. I was wondering if anyone has seen a conflict between using Spare Parts and AutoKiller which seems to have the same job except with more features?

Here is the scenario:
Motorola Droid - Original
1. Rooted 2.1, then
2. OTA Stock Update to 2.2, then
3. Seem to have lost root, However - I still have the Superuser Permissions Icon.
I use Barnacle for WiFi Tether - I get a "Permission Denied" error when I try to start the application. I also went into the terminal emulator and tried an "su" which also gave a permission denied response. I tried "sudo" and also got permission denied response. Others have told me this is common with this progression of events. However, How do I now ROOT 2.2 in this scenario?

I used DroidMod to root when I had 2.01. When 2.1 became available, I "un-rooted" then forced update to 2.1. Well to be honest, it is really slow and laggy. I now want to go back to DroidMod, but nothing I have tried seems to work.

I'm trying to gain root and having some problems...
I had my droid rooted for some time, running droid mod 1.0. All was well until recently the battery life turned to shit (followed all guides to resolve recent OTA update issues, but still shitty.) Because of this, I decided I would go back to stock, since I couldn't justify the rom's features if the battery would kick out after 16 hours. So I returned to stock no problem and received the OTA to upgrade to 2.1.
After getting the upgrade to 2.1, I wanted to at least have root access to run a few programs. I followed this guide:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/63010-how-install-sprecovery-unrooted-2-1-ota.html
to get SPRecovery back on my phone. Everything went well, it all checked out. After that I used SPRecovery to install the root update.zip. This worked fine, the root access app is in my tray and everything seems to be fine... HOWEVER when opening programs that require root access (setcpu and adfree are the ones I've tried) they say I don't have root access. I have tried reinstalling the update.zip file to no luck. USB debugging is ON. Is there a special update.zip to gain root on 2.1 (I saw no posts about that)? Is there some setting I missed this time around that I didn't the first time I rooted?

My Droid 1 failed within it's one year warranty. Went through quite a hassle with Verizon trying to get it replaced. They kept telling me a new one would be here by "Tuesday", no phone, call again, should be here by "Friday", no phone...OK, now i'm frustrated. Finally on Monday, a box from Verizon, and surprise, it's a new Droid 2 YAY. Now on Tuesday, another delivery with a box from Verizon, with yes...another Droid 2. That was almost 3 months ago. The second Droid 2 has just sat on my desk, no charges from Verizon, no phone call or anything asking for it back.Today, my son drops the in use Droid 2 phone and it shattered and it's not working. So, I say to myself, no problem I have a brand new one on my desk. My concern is that if I activate it, it will trigger some thing with Verizon and I will then be charged $500 bucks for the phone. What do you all think? Have I actually got a free 2nd phone, or is it just a pretty paper weight.

I've tried lot of methods until I heard of this not-known-for-many app which finally unlocked my chinese tablet.
If you cant find a root method specialized for your device its a must to try this out before asking:
Unlockroot Pro 3.36
I had trouble with the free version but I "bought" *cough* the pro version(3.3.6) and it rooted my device on less than 2 minutes.

I'm curious how good, or bad, the "certified like new" phones are. Long story, but I had one, when my first DX crashed only a few days after having it. The "like new" phone had sporadic issues as well as the having loose plug-ins. I demanded (and got) a NEW replacement, which worked flawlessly until 2.2, and now I am having significant problems again. VZW said they would ship a new replacement phone since my NEW phone was only 3 weeks old when 2.2 hit. I found out yesterday it is yet another "certified like new" ("CLN") phone. I did not have good luck with the prior one. So, if you have experience with a CLN phone, what is your experience? Good? Bad? ANY glitches with it? I'm also wondering if I should wait on the fix that Motorola "says" is coming but who knows when that will be?

I remember all the ruckus about security concerns for jailbroken iPhones, and after talking to a friend with one of these devices, I began to wonder if there were any similar concerns I should have with a rooted Droid?
1) Is it more important now to have a "pattern-protected" lock screen?
2) Do I need to create a unique password for SU access?
3) Do I need to be more concerned malware or data swiping from market apps?
I love my recently rooted Droid but assume that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Is my assumption correct, or do I need not be concerned?

I am new to the Root scene, and am having a good time so far. I recently switched to the DROID from my Eris, and thought it a good opportunity to learn about rooting and ADB, using my Eris an experiment. Successful on that front I'm working on rooting my 2.1 DROID tonight.I checked around and couldn't find much/anyone on this but it may be because I don't know how to ask the right question. Can I ADB pull HTC apps off my Eris and Push them to my DROID? For example, I enjoy the functionality of the HTC People app over the stock contacts on the DROID. Can I mix and match?

I read that hulu is blocked on our phones, and someone said to try netflix instead. Well, I have a netflix account and it sounded like a great way to stream something for the kids when we're stuck waiting.Am I missing something? Has anyone gotten either of these to stream on their droid?I'm rooted and running BB v0.4 if that makes any difference.

So I know that there was a bug where you could answer a call through the lock screen but I am having an issue where whenever the screen goes dark with the proximity sensor, it locks the phone and I can't even change volume without sliding to unlock. I have to press a physical button for the screen to come back on and then slide to unlock to do anything!!! Anyone else have this issue? It just started today out of nowhere! I have not installed any apps recently.

I thought It would be nice if people listed the applications that don't work for them, and then say what ROM they are using that It doesn't work on Bugless Beauty.

I've never been interested in verizon in the past, but I must have a droid now.I noticed that the droid is $119.99 on TigerDirect.com (w/ 2 yr contract) and the activation fee is waved, and I'm wondering if Verizon stores will match the price? Verizon is currently charging $199.99 and a $35 activation fee.I will be going in to the Verizon store after work to try to get them to match the price and looking for some advice in the meantime. Has anyone had any luck getting them to match the price? Or, should I just order from tiger direct?

Since the Dinc also has root, I would think they also have posted master backups in their forums. (I'm still trying to find some links.) Wouldn't their backup have some stuff we don't, (like the cool weather app that shows rain drops on their screen and a windshield wiper that wipes it clean), that could be installed on our phones?

There are big and fast phones on the way. IMHO - VZW is whoring the BOGO on the Droid lately. I have seen many, many Moto Droid commercials that the "DROID" sound makes me look at my phone all the time. Just seems like they want to clear their inventory in prep for some faster and newer phones beyond the incredible.
