Keyword being offline. I'm going to South America and as you may know there's no Verizon network there. So far I've found an offline Oxford Spanish Dictionary for 24.99. A lot of other translator apps don't say weather their offline or online only. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. I leave soon and want to get my new Droid in order..

Then Root access no biggie

Then it goes into the CMD language for PC on how to edit the database file using CMD prompts to enable the sideloading of APKs directly on the phone.......................
I am an avid outdoorsmen and I have downloaded a few different gps apps to my droid. Like My Tracks, Oruxmaps, Trekbuddy, Geobeagle, and so on. I cannot figure out for the life of me how to download an offline map to put on these apps so that I may use the gps feature when I have no signal. Can someone please help me out with all of this? I'm about to go crazy here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I bought my Nexus One, I took the card out of my G1 and put it in my N1. I've developed an app and I know how it works on the Nexus but I want to test it on my G1. I wanted to see how my app looks on a G1 so I connected it to my computer and put my .apk file into the downloads folder on my G1's SD- Card. Ok, now my app is on my OFFLINE G1 but how do I install it? Can I install it with only the native apps on my G1? Right now, I don't see anyway to view the file. I know I can take the chip out of my N1 and put it back into my G1 and then simply download and install it but I would rather not do that.

I put the process of scanning library and building a database with the similar artists in a background service that wakes up when the user turns the internet on. The objective is to only use network in this process.
With the database updated, I only need a way of passing information between different devices and it's important to me that this is a offline process (I think it's one of the valuable assets of my application).
the only offline connection between devices I know is Bluetooth.However, as you know, this technology is kind of deprecated and it's not always reliable, principally because you can only communicate in short distances.
Do you have a hint of doing this in other ways? I thought about socket connections, but for that you need to have a network connection. I also thought about creating this connection using ad-hoc networks programatically, but that I don't know if it is possible (at least, not in earlu versions of the android OS).
I currently have a dial-up connection and I was wondering if there was an offline version of app inventor or if I could somehow use IIS and host the source. If a big file needs to be downloaded I can go to the library with my laptop.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am developing an application with TripIt integration and I make a call to their API and I get all my data in JSON format and save it in an object ListTripResponse. This object contains all the data I need over all the application. What I do now, I write this object to a text file (i serialize my object and save it as a file with ObjectOutputStream) and in every activity I read this file. But this file is pretty long and it takes a while to read it. And i have to use and read this object in every activity! Isn't there a better way to do this? I cannot save this file in a database because the structure is to complex.

I know it uses A-GPS, but I've been led to believe that the use of cell towers is only to facilitate the acquisition of the almanac or when GPS signal is unavaible altogether. I'd like to use my phone's GPS while camping, at which point I'll be well away from cell coverage. Will I still be able to get a GPS signal. If so can anyone reccomend a topographic mapping software that I can download maps from to my phone?

And, in this situation, I can not debug or access the handset anymore. My question is, how can I make the handset back to 'device' status. I tried 'adb kill-server' and 'adb start-server', but it didn't help. Why the connection is so unstable, and how can I recover it without reconnect it to the computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy understanding is that I can use Google Now voice commands offline "as long as it was for something that doesn't need an internet connection to perform" like setting alarm and opening apps. and for that purpose I have to install the appropriate language under "offline speech recognition", which I already have it pre-installed on my phone.
The issue here is that while I'm connected to the internet via wifi, Google Now works fine, but the moment I turn wifi off and go offline, Google Now stops working! It still recognize the hot word trigger "OK Google" but after listening to my command it shows this response "Didn't catch that. Try speaking again".
I turn wifi on, and it works again! even though I used the same exact voice command! I have language pack pre-installed on my Moto G "running Kitkat", and everything seems to be in order, so why isn't it working offline?

Is there an app out there that can backup SMS/MMS (either to Gmail or HTML) so that SMS and MMS are in the same thread (not separated), and readable without the need for the phone?
I've seen SMS Backup+, but that separates SMS from MMS, so a conversation thread isn't contiguous.
I've also seen MyBackup Root, but it also splits SMS and MMS apart.
ADB see my device as offline on PC.My configuration:

I don't know what happened but one morning couldn't connect to my device.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated SDK Tools to 21.1 and Platform-tools to 16.0.1. Verified with 'adb version' that I am running v1.0.31. Windows 7, x64.
I have four 4.2.2 devices to test with, a Galaxy Nexus with unlocked bootloader but not rooted, and Nexuses One, 4, 7 & 10, all stock.
The Nexus One, being <4.2.2, works just fine with adb, but all the 4.2.2 devices show as 'offline' in adb, and I have NEVER seen the RSA security dialog pop up on the devices, even after several restarts of ADB (using kill-server), the PC and the devices themselves.
Have tried using different USB ports and cables. I'm using the standard 'Android ADB Interface' drivers from the SDK, but have also tried the 'Android Composite ADB Interface' and 'Samsung Composite ADB Interface' drivers too. I even completely re-installed the SDK from the ADT bundle.
Weird thing is, my colleague can get the popup to show on those same devices without any trouble. I even copied his adb.exe and dll's and tried that and it still wouldn't work on mine. He didn't install from the bundle; he installed ADT into Eclipse, the old-fashioned way, but I doubt that would make a difference.
I am interested in how to mod an apk for offline capability.
For example, Asphalt 8 game, is now version 1.2.1b i have searched offline mods, i only find "unlimited money". i just want offline, no money, no nothing.
