My wife is deaf and uses her phone only for texting and email. Even though her voice mail greeting clearly states she is deaf and asks that no one leave her a message she still gets one or two voice mails a week. Is there an app that will shut off her voice mail or translate it to text so that she can read it?

In the standard contact list, I can only add 2 work numbers. I need to be able to add more. I have searched the market but that ones that I found only organize the contacts. Most will let you edit the contact but uses the standard app for editing. I know that the Samsung Moment can add many so maybe there is app out there.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone know why my contacts pictures wouldnt be show in my People widget, im using the single line widget and none of my pictures linked with FB are showing up they are just blank, but when i go to the actual list of contacts, and to my favorites, the pictures are there next to the names. I used it before and it worked fine, i recently wiped my phone and now they arent working.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that in the People app, the phone numbers are formatted like this: (xxx) yyyzzzz but phone numbers that are used in message fields such as "Send Message" are formatted (xxx) yyy-zzzz. Is there any way to have the phone numbers formatted using the dash? Why, you ask? Because it's easier to read when you are looking up a phone number to give to someone; and I'm old, so don't laugh at me! GMail's contacts formats them all with a dash, but I can't find a way to make the Hero do so.

When I get and answer a call, when the call ends its dropping to the people app, vs Home or where the phone was BEFORE the call.
Just wondering if I am alone in that as I find it kinda annoying.
I discovered this new feature today... well, actually I should give credit to my son, who got his hero about 3 weeks ago for finding this.
Pressing on the contact's picture in the people list pops a little menu that allows you to easily choose whether to call or text them. It even provides the Handcent icon if you are using that as your main messaging app!
Just thought I would share this finding, in case I wasn't the only one who didn't know about it!
I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. Great little phone. I'm having issues with texting. Here's my scenario.I receive a text from Facebook stating someone wrote on my wall. The from id is 123456789. I then get a text from a friend George. In the list view of of my texts George's text showing under the Facebook number. When I press on the Facebook name it shows the text from Facebook then from George. If I reply it goes to Facebook not George.It also happens under different users, appears to be very random and is causing issues as I'm trying to quickly reply, forget to check who it's going to, then I text someone something I shouldn't have. Not cool.Any ideas how to fix it? I downloaded Handcent SMS as well and that is having the same issue so it appears to be a root droid issue.

I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA problem that I'm having is that I can't jump through the address book (people) by selecting a letter, I have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that I want. On my old phone, there was an alphabetical slide bar, so that I could jump to any letter in my contacts. Now, when I want to call someone with a name starting with the letter Z, I have to manually scroll through my entire address book to get to that name.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Hero yesterday and had the Sprint store transfer my contacts from my AT&T sim card. Everything seemed to work fine except when he looked in the "people" icon, nothing was there. So after a few more tries I left. When I got home, I noticed that all my sim card contacts, including my Facebook contacts, were visible when I hit the "phone" icon. My question is, how do I get my contacts in the "people" icon? I want them on the first tab "all". I was able to get one of my contacts in the "favorites" tab but it takes too long to get there. I want to hit "people" and see all my contacts right away.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have to say that this default Application is truly simple and easy to deal with, and that makes it all the more significant in my view. However, I am running into an odd problem, and I would like to see if anyone has had the same experience, and/or could offer their assistance in this matter.
I have linked all of my contacts to their FB profiles, and all seems to work extremely well. However, for reasons beyond my understanding, when I attempt to click on the "Album" icon (To view the photographs of a FB Friend), this App. always makes me go through a "Force Close". This ONLY happens with ONE of my contacts though, as with every other contact I still retain the ability to view their FB Photo Albums. I was thinking that the one contact in question here, possibly has too many photographs for this App. to handle(?), but I can get it to work on a very rare occasion despite such.
I would really like to hear from folks in regard to this issue, because it's puzzling, and somewhat irritating.
I have rebooted, and I have also taken the particular FB profile off of my contact list, and then re-applied it (All to no avail).

I've only been an Android/HTC Hero user for about a week now, and have a weird thing happening with my Hero. I've probably done something to cause this, but, I can't figure it out.
I have several contacts in my People list, and most of them have multiple phone numbers listed with them. When I choose People, and then say my sister, who has two mobile numbers, a work number and a home number, I get a small detailed card that pretty much fills the screen and allows me to choose a number to call mobile, call home, call work, then it says send message to each number, send email.
But, say when I choose my wife, I can only Call Other, Edit Contact, Delete Contact and Send Contact as vCard.
It didn't used to do this. It used to give me these choices for my wife too. My wife has a home number, a cell number, a truck number, I need to be able to text her cell, etc. Basically, I need the same options for her as I have for my sister.
I have the same issue with many of my contacts. I don't know what happened to cause this. Any help fixing this would be much appreciated. Hopefully, I won't have to do a master reset to do so!
I have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.

Keyword being offline. I'm going to South America and as you may know there's no Verizon network there. So far I've found an offline Oxford Spanish Dictionary for 24.99. A lot of other translator apps don't say weather their offline or online only. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated. I leave soon and want to get my new Droid in order..

I recently flashed my Hero to have SenseHero 2.2. Before that, I had a stock Orange Hero on Android 1.5.
In my phonebook, by that I mean the People app, I used to only show my Phone contacts and hide the SIM contacts.
Since I've upgraded, the only options I have in the View option in People is Google or Phone. But my SIM contacts are also shown, and I want to hide them.
I have an app where I want to list all phone numbers and the associated contact name.I see that there is the Contacts.People table for the purpose of getting all phone numbers and that there is a PERSON_ID to allow me to lookup the contact in Contacts.People.Great.Now I see that all the columns I want are already joined to the Contacts.People.Phones table. But that seems lucky in this case.How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Hero for a couple of months and finally think I've got to grips with the majority of its features. One of the things I really liked when I originally set it up was the fact that my contacts in People would sync up with anyone it recognised as having a facebook account and therefore provided their profile picture and birthday info etc. However, a couple of weeks ago all these pictures suddenly disappeared and I've no idea why - I can still get onto facebook fine and my contacts all seem as they were except they're all pictureless and it's really starting to annoy me. Has anyone else experienced this or is there any setting I'm missing or something I've done wrong??
On a completely unrelated note (although I may well post this seperately), I've recenly downloaded Handcent SMS from the market as I'd read that this was a good alternative to the original messaging application, but I don't know how to set this as my default SMS app and to get rid of the original off my home screen.
I can't seem to figure out how, but I recently met this girl, and we've been talking on the phone in the evening, and sometimes, I'll hear her voice coming from my pocket, and I'll dig my phone out and she'd be (at 2 am mind you) on the other end laughing at my horrible singing or whatever I was doing in the car. I called her 6 times yesterday from my pocket! Phone is locled and everything, 3 days ago, it was my mother. It's always the last person that called.so I can't understand how a locked phone is calling people like this!
