Motorola Droid :: How Often Do You Have To Reboot Your X?
Nov 26, 2010
For what ever reason, app acting stupid, something not working right, whatever? I have been adding apps, tinkering with phone settings, I think my average now is twice a day to set things straight again.

I have the Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola S305 headset. I have paired them together, no problem; however, my phone keeps rebooting when I turn my headset off then back on, and sometimes they don't work when I am making a call. I really like these headphones (plus I'm really cheap ) and don't want to have to get another set.

I just set my phone down on my desk only to have that evil red eye staring back at me. Phone rebooted itself somehow. I most certainly did not slam it down or anything.....just set it there gently like always. Also, I noticed that when my X is on the charger, every now and then it will freeze up and reboot itself.

I know there's an app out there that can do a quicker-than-usual reboot kind of like what HTC implemented with their new Sense UI. Does someone remember the name of that app? I can't seem to find it. Engadget tested it a while ago with the Droid X but I can't find that article either.

I rooted awhile back and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I do seem to have one issue that I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere. (it's not stopping me from doing anything, just annoying)
When I use a tool such as rom manager and reboot into recovery my sdcard can never mount (or isn't mounted) and after a dozen or so attempts the phone reboots (which I then press X on the keyboard to get back into recovery - clockworkmod). So if I go into the partitions menu option and then mount the sdcard, I can then do zip installs from the card.
But nothing I've tried will allow me to reboot into recovery from an application in the phone since apparently my sd card isn't mounted or can't be mounted without manual intervention.
Do you think there might be an issue with my sdcard? I'm pretty sure that I used to be able to do this, but recently it stopped working.

I had my first reboot today...which isnt a bad thing i guess but my droid has been freezing a lot too. It asks whether or not i want to force close...I say "wait" then everything is fine. This is my first smartphone. Is this normal or should i think about an exchange.

How about the devs coming up with a Reset App - It'll save the hardware buttons!
This is the only operating system I've seen that doesn't have such an app.

A few days ago, as I left our house, I set my Droid to navigate to my destination and handed it back to one of my children; they enjoy seeing the GPS in action.
Oddly, for ten minutes the GPS failed to sync. I forget the exact message from the Google Navigation app, but it was something like, "Looking for location". The map didn't update with our position. We weren't in a hurry, so I stopped and fired up the "GPS Status" app; it showed a few satellites but no fix for a couple minutes.
I finally powered the Droid off and restarted it. After that seemed to get a fix instantly - certainly no more than a second or two.

I just rebooted my phone and now the market app won't start. All the other apps I've tried start, but market just does nothing- click and nothing happens. Any ideas?
Update:
Found another that won't start... "Profiles (cupcake)". I'm wondering if this app is somehow causing issues now after rebooting the phone. It didn't have these issues before the reboot. But, now market and profiles aren't working. Could be related...

I complained before of the phone constantly rebooting itself, however i find with wifi off, it does not constantly reboot, also noticed that i get only 1 signal bar everywhere in my house on wifi, where as on 3g i get almost full bars everywhere. I dont know what this means, since im new to verizon service. Is this normal as far as losing bars depending on wifi or 3g?

I have SPRecovery (haven't updated it in a long time) on my phone as well as the latest version of ClockworkMod/ROM Manager. I cannot install or backup ROMs because RM won't reboot into SPRecovery. Also, I cannot manually reboot into SPRecovery...power + X takes me right to the Motorola flash screen. What's going on here?
How can I check to see if I have SPRecovery installed? Sorry, but it's been awhile and although I've been rooted for a long time and have flashed many ROMs, I don't do it often any more and I'm afraid that somehow (I have NO idea) that SPRecovery may have been removed or something...even though I have the latest version of clockworkMOD/ROM Manager.

I've been having some trouble with rom manager not booting into recovery. I fixed it by reflashing, but can someone refresh my memory on using SP recovery? If I power off, then power up by holding the power and X button, it doesn't reboot into recovery.

Warning, this process may cause our phone to become unstable if you clock it at the wrong speed. I advise that you do not continue onto steps 2 and 3 until you find the settings that work for YOUR phone best.
All credit goes to Fab for his how-to post, Elkay for the original mod of the milestone overclock and to Hilbe for his install-recovery.sh and setscaling.sh files as well as figuring out where to add on these commands. And also Airmaxx23 for helping me refine the commands. As well as FreeWELL for his Root Explorer guide and his stop overclocking commands
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
First, things first download the attachment at the bottom of this post
Now on to how to overclock that survives a reboot,
1. First follow Fabolous's guide to overclocking,
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid-x/145209-how-overclock-your-droid-x.html
Here is his OP, also the overclock.ko and overclock.sh files are both in the attached Zip file at the bottom.

My X is already rooted. It's running the 2.2 leak and have FlyX 0.1 installed. (Theme or ROM? Doesn't matter)
Yesterday: Decided to reboot my phone. Came back 20 minutes later and it was stuck at the Motorola logo. Pulled the battery and it booted as usual.
Today: I want to install the 2.3.15 update. I am trying to reboot into CW Recovery via ROM Manager, yet it won't reboot. It asks if I want to, I click yes, and it does nothing. Tried manually rebooting it. Same thing as yesterday. Stuck at logo and battery pull fixed it.
Anyways all I want to do is install the 2.3.15 update. Can someone please help me? I don't know what's going on.

I rooted to BB 0.4 and I am using ROM Manager. Tried to boot to recovery using Power X and would never reboot stayed on M screen. Then I looked at ROM Manager and it mentioned "Reboot into Recovery" so I tried that - notta. Just went into hang mode and then eventually did a normal reboot to home screen. Am I missing something here?

possible to prevent processes from starting on reboot/boot for Droid 2.1?
there's a few processes that are always running, that turn themselves on, which i infrequently use. a couple examples are Voice Search and Skype, which when I ended processes for, freed up a significant amount of memory and 4 processes. I'd like to be able to set them up something akin to what windows will do, where they are on manual startup, and only start when app is called on. I still want to use the apps, just don't want background processes running constantly.

This is an odd problem I have. When I reboot my phone, it sends only a select few people previous text messages I've sent them. The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that. My girlfriend who was sitting next to me started getting text messages. She received about 13 instantly from me that she previously received from me.Can anyone decipher this dilemma?

I rooted my phone Friday and it is now Tuesday(Got my phone in August). I installed some apps that are rooted only. Tethering, Overclock Widget, Titanium Backup, ROM manager. When I tried to install a new ROM I was getting download errors. I saw something about ADW.Launcher so I downloaded that and got a theme for it. Today when I reinstalled the Cyanogen 6.0.0. Stable release and rebooted my phone I would get to the Motorola Symbol. After that I got to my custom boot image(Dancing Droids). The image got half way doing its animation it restarted from the begging this continued until I took out the battery. Went into recovery mod and the Cyanogen boot image appeared and did the same as my Dancing Droid but completed 1 1/2 circles with the blue flame. When I got home I plugged in my phone flashed a 2.2 FRG22D.sbf file. I then used RSD lite and connected my phone. Had some trouble flashing the file but eventually got it. When I went back to the boot loader screen and cleared my cache/data(thought it would help) I restarted my phone. Watched and Motorola symbol appear and posted this 1 hour later. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong or what to do?

So I bought a rooted Droid from a friend. Everything works fine. The phone came with the rooted version of 2.2 on it. Now the problem.
When I go to download a ROM, it downloads, gives me the option to reboot in recovery (which would install the ROM usually), and when I select that option, it just reboots into the rooted 2.2 I'm currently running.
The first time this happened, I rebooted in recovery manually because the reboot got stuck at the bootloader screen. I then rebooted manually and loaded my previous 2.2 rooted ROM.
Now I can't reboot in recovery manually. Not too sure what to do at this point. I've owned a rooted Droid in the past and had not had any of these problems. I'd like to overclock and play with some other roms. Any help would be appreciated.
