Anyone getting duplicate icons after installing a new app? I've had this happen twice now. I download so many apps so not sure which one might have caused it. I'm not able to trash the icon either and end up uninstalling and reinstall the app.

I have multiple Google icons in the connections field of many of my contacts.
how to remove all these duplicate icons and I don't want to delete the contact itself.
I am having issues with sms notifications. I'm running the custom rom listed below. previously i had "missed call" which had been giving me duplicate sms notifications (with local notifications off), i then uninstalled that along with the sms, mms apps which I replaced with handcent, which also has custom led notifications for sms.
Now I have two things going on, one- there is a little sms icon, just like the one from missed call, sans the red # mark, that always stays in notification area, and when i pull down not. menu it reads 0 sms. So, why is it there? Is it part of Handcent? Handcent uses the icon I picked from it's menu, which is different than what's in the not. bar.
two- still getting 2 sms not. ringtones, first one is default, i think, second one is one I selected, just one new notification though, which is the one I picked.
Now, I still have a ringtone under main settings>notification ringtones, which I assumed I would need for emails, but may hap that is cause of dual ringtones for sms messages, as I have one selected in handcent. ok just got a brainstorm, disable not. ringtone in handcent, but leave custom led, then leave ringtone in settings menu, which should alert for both. I would like to have different ringtones though, for text and email, but missed call was giving me issues, like dual notifications, not audible, but in bar, one i would always have to clear which became annoying. Also, I really like the custom led's, but when there is more than one alert, it just defaults to green, instead of displaying one color, then another.
side question- is there a way, or an app, to make separate ringtones for sms and email? yeah, missed call, i know about that one already, if someone was able to troubleshoot similar prob (dual notifications, with droid one OFF), then I would gladly listen, I used it fine before, maybe it has something to do with the rom I'm using, everything else works perfect with it though.
yesterday i updated to the leaked 2.3.15 to see how it worked. I started getting duplicate sms messages in both handcent and the stock text messaging app. So i wiped data/cache and tried it again and got the same thing. So today i downgraded to 2.3.13 to see if it would fix it...same issue. Can anybody tell me why im getting duplicate sms message all of a sudden?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Handcent for awhile. Recently been having problems with duplicate messages in Handcent. I think it started when I switched to Koush's Rom, but I can't swear to it. I use Google Voice for all my calls and text, but I send and receive my text via Handcent using my GNumber. The default client has the duplicates tos, so I don't think it is Handcent's fault but either the phone is somehow duplicating the message or the problem is with GVoice when it forwards the text to me. I can send texts just fine and no one has complained to me about recieving double texts, so I believe it is only my incoming messages. It also isn't 100% of the time, but I would say around 80%.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my DX, I'm using the stock messaging client. Whenever I get a picture sent to me via MMS, it shows up twice. Regular text-only SMS shows up once. It doesn't matter if I'm using stock client or Chomp SMS or under 2.1 or the leaked 2.2. Anyone seen this before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else getting what appears to be duplicate update notifications in the market?This has been happening to me for the last 2 days for Astro File Manager, and Panda Home.I have the latest versions installed.Yet the market tells me there's an update available.When I look at the version number of the update, it's the same as what I have and when I install it, the version numbers wind up being the same.Is this really an issue, or are the authors really throwing new apk's up there with the same version number? Or is there some 'minor' version number they're updating that isn't visible to me, and there really are small tweaks in the update?Curious if anyone has seen multiple updates for these in the last few days, and whether anyone knows what's really going on.

My work is in the final steps of moving to new servers, rolling out new email addresses, etc. As a result, I had to remove my old Corp Sync account and set up another with the new info. Easy enough. Well, my Outlook contacts were not syncing to my phone any longer. The IT folks had me delete my account and create it again. Upon doing so, a duplicate Corp Sync account was created however when I click on it, there are only fields for username and password. The username is gray'd out and no password will be accepted as it tells me the username cannot be blank. So I can not delete this account. I don't want it there under my list of accounts.Has anyone encountered this and found a way to remove it?

Same icon and version (6) but different data size (124 KB and 192KB). Is this normal? I was thinking it might just be for video and photos to separate the two, but I was hoping to get experts opinions.

I have been through many roms, and i always wipe/data, etc. I also always backup all apps/ data/ system through titanium. I read something a while back in a post which i cannot find about not selecting the red colored items or maybe the green items?I think it may be the red because those are all system apps which will come in the new rom i am flashing. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi am having a slight problem that just started happening this morning when i turned my phone on..I saw that i had a text and the little smile voice bubble appeared like normal in the notification panel but also an envelope (NOT email) also appeared..i clicked the smile icon to bring me straight to the text and that went away like it was supposed to, but the envelope would not go away..anyone know how to get this "unread message" icon to stop coming up and just have the smile bubble come up again.

Custom Icons
Below you will find instructions on how to get custom icons onto your Droid X using LauncherPro. There is a different method depending on where or how the icon will be used.
There are 3 different classes of Icons: Dock Icons; Home Screen Icons and Label/Group Home Screen Icons. There are some apps that will be needed, I'm sure there are other apps that will work but I will be using these for the instructions: ASTRO File Manager; AppsOrganizer; and BetterCut.
See the bottom of each section for corresponding pics. The letter in brackets goes with the pic with the same letter.
Dock Icons
There are 2 methods for getting custom icons onto your Droid X dock depending on how you get the icons. The trick is getting the photo Gallery to see the icons. If you are downloading and installing an icon pack app from the Market continue to section 1. If you downloaded the icons to a computer and you're going to install them on the sdcard continue to section 2.
Section 1 - Installing Market Icon Packs to Your Phone
1: Download and install the icon pack as you would any other app.
2: Open ASTRO and open the "dcim" folder(A) that is in the sdcard folder.
3: Press the "menu" button, "new folder"(B), "directory"(C) then enter a name (I'm using ICONZ) then press "create"(D). You should then see an ICONZ folder below the camera folder.
4: Press the menu button again and select "tools"(E), "Application Manager/Backup"(F), then select the app that contains your icons and press "backup"(G).
5: Press the "back" button twice and you should see a "backups" folder(H), open it, then select "apps", select your icon pack, then "browse file"(I), then the "assets" folder, then long press on the "icons" folder, select "edit"(J), then "copy"(K).
6: Press the "back" button 4 times (or press "home"(L) once on the top of ASTRO) and you should be back at the screen containing the backups, dcim and several other folders that are on the sdcard. Open the "dcim"(M) folder, then open your "ICONZ" folder, press the "menu" button, "edit"(N) then "paste"(O). You should then have an "icons" folder which is in your "ICONZ" folder. Press "home" and continue to section 3.
Section 2. - Installing Icons From a Computer to a Phone
(This is pretty basic so I won't be posting pics)
1: Download the icon pack to your computer.
2: Plug your Droid X into the computer with the USB cable.
3: Select "USB Mass Storage" on your phone when USB connection pops up, press "OK".
4: When the "AutoPlay" pops up on your computer select "open folder to view files", then open the "dcim" folder and create an "ICONZ" folder.
5: Copy your downloaded icons from the computer to the "ICONZ" folder, then "safely remove hardware". You can now unplug your phone.
Section 3. - Placing Icons in The Dock
1. Long press on the dock icon that you want to change(P) and select one of the Shortcuts listed or press Applications and choose from one of your Apps, I'll use "Dialer" or phone as an example.(Q)
2. Once you've selected the app or shortcut press "Custom Icon"(R), then the Gallery should open. Select "folders(S)" and then select your "icons" folder(T). Next you will see all of your icons listed, select the icon you want (U) and it should appear on the dock..
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to change the rest of the dock icons.
Instead, they are replaced by a generic green "Droid" icon. These are apps that are newly downloaded, and some that I've had for a long time. It's only a few of them, and it isn't a random thing- They stay that way, and the others still show up. I don't know if this is a Sweeter Home II issue, or a Sholes 2.0.1 ROM issue, or something that's up with these particular apps. In SWII, I do have the icons resized to about 75% of their original size. But even in the "Manage Applications" list, where they are all stock sized icons, they behave the same way. I've unloaded & reloaded apps to no avail.

What I need to know is the best way to implement it.I'm referring to the icons for specific apps (i.e. Market, Gmail, etc.). I was thinking I could open the .apk and replace the files that way, but that would mean an update for the app would un-do my work, right?I know there are apps out there that replace the launcher that allow you to change icons, but from what I remember, they are normally buggy. Has this changed? So, what is everyone's opinion on the BEST way to replace icons?
