I have both ADW Launcher and LauncherPro installed and had been using them fine before the FRG22D update. However, now when I press the "Home" button, only the default launcher takes over. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both but nothing changed. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I might be able to get it so that I can switch launchers again?

I'm a noob but planning to root my Moto Droid using the method outlined by OMJ in All Things Root (Rooting the Droid without rsd lite up to and including FRG22D). To this point, I have downloaded and installed the Motorola Drivers and ADB Toolkit. I have verified that I can see the Droid in a CMD window with the "ADB Device" command. Before I preceed, I wanted to make sure that understand where I will be at the end. I know this is an easy question for lots of rooters but I just wanted to make sure I understand.
At the end of commands and on reboot, my phone will be rooted. I should have the Superuser icon. My data and settings will all be intact. I will have the stock ROM (FRG22D), stock recovery, stock kernal, etc. At this point, I should be able to install ROM Manager which will, in turn, allow me to install ClockworkMOD recovery. At this point, a Nandroid backup is recommended. I can also download SetCPU that will allow me to overclock the stock kernal to 800 Mhz. ROM Manager will allow me to download a custom kernal for overclocking to 1 Ghz (and higher but I plan to start with what others have recommended). Again, my data and setting are intact because I am still using the stock ROM. Any apps requiring root (i.e. WiFi teather) should work fine at this point. I can go back to stock unrooted at anytime by flashing the FRG22D stock sbf file with RSD Lite although any user data will be lost. Does this sound correct?. I know that many folks are going for the custom ROMs but I feel more comfortable with "baby steps" in that direction.

I am on ESD56 (2.01) and I want to go to FRG22D (2.2). What is the best way to get there? Can I do it in one shot or do I need to go step by step by step (and what are the step versions?). Happy to stay un-rooted, with my stock Verizon phone. Am out of the country for a while, I have wifi but no cell or data roaming just now.

Droid frg22d update stops syncing with exchange 2010 - Verizon Wireless Community. Apparently I'm not the only one with elevated frustration. Short version of the story:
- Spent hours on the phone w/Moto & Verizon explaining that my OG Droid will no longer connect to ActiveSync w/ Exchange 2010 SP1.
- Verizon & Moto both admit problem.
- Moto says they're working on it. Verizon says to pay $44.95 a month and it will work.
- If I hear one more "supervisor" tell me that it's my problem, and to either pay more, or use TouchDown ($20 app that sucks by the way) I am going to start a class action. Yes, I have the money, and no, I'm not bluffing.
- Please post your woes on this forum as I am starting a case # with the BBB on this matter and I need as much ammo. as possible.

Verizon Wireless is supposed to be releasing FRG22d today (Aug. 24th 2010) I want to know if there is any way to save all of my settings that I use in Handcent SMS because I have done a factory reset about 3 or 4 times now and handcent is always my biggest problem when reinstalling my apps, just because of all of the custom settings. Is there a way to save these settings to my SD card or something to be automatically applied after the factory reset and cache wipe?

I'm looking for a stock unrooted FRG22D ROM to keep on my sd card. I used to have one to flash to set my phone back to stock, just in case I had to return it. I cant remember where I got it and can't find the thread it was in.
I found the file here is a link to it http://www.droidforums.net/forum/rescue-squad-guides/80664-unroot-back-stock-2-2-without-sbf-rsd-lite-droid-1-only.html

I swear I tried this at some point and it worked, but I checked with Motorola about whether or not the GPS receiver will work when the phone is in airplane mode. They say it doesn't.Can anyone confirm whether or not the GPS (not aGPS, just good old fashioned, slow to download datum and get a fix GPS) works when in airplane mode?I'm traveling overseas to Japan, and only want to use wifi and GPS, so I thought I'd just leave the phone in airplane mode the whole time, but I'm really going to need GPS working (I'm using Maverick Pro for offline maps). I'd go out and try it, but it's snowing and crappy, and I don't want to sit outside that long

I do a lot of MMS where animated gifs and 3g2 files are quite common. After searching I found some old threads indicating android doesn't support anim. gif (back then), but found nothing on 3g2.
Is this still the case for gifs and what about 3g2? Different messaging app or browser perhaps? My bud's Hero plays anim. gifs fine and it runs android...

Most Motorola handsets will have multitouch from here on out.
In an interview with Laptop Magazine, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha had this to say:"I think you will see us deliver multitouch in the majority of our devices going forward. Theres a complex set of factors, not all of them technical. But I think youll see us being proactive on multitouch because the user feedback on multitouch is very good."

I had assumed that the Motorola Droid supports the new multitouch APIs in Android 2.0, but the reviews of the device I've seen so far say that it isn't used, at least in the built-in apps like the browser (e.g: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/30/motorola-droid-review/ ). Apparently though, it is supported on the upcoming GSM version of the same handset [url], so perhaps it is just an issue of whether the driver is included on the Droid version of the software. Can anyone with access to a Droid confirm whether the multitouch API works on it?

Either way stock or modded this phone is just buggy.and there is something, wrong with the microphone. Can they tell ota that the phone is rooted? I'm going to return it to stock before I send it back to them, but don't want to do it till I know they are going to replace it.Last time they checked to see when the last tower update was, but I don't know if they were checking their info or my phone info.

I have a wi-fi adapter and I can make an ad-hoc network from my PC but can't use it as an access point via Connectify or Virtual Router. I tried getting a physical router, but had so many problems that I eventually gave up! I know there are lots of programmers out here, so can anyone put up a hack/mod for supporting ad-hoc networks on the Droid 1?

Anyone know where to find support for the ToggleSettings app by Cooolmagic? I have edited my "Low Battery" profile to set screen brightness to zero, but every time I activate that profile, the brightness sets to 80%. Doesn't make much sense. Also, when I plug my Droid's charger in, the profile switches to my "AC Powered" profile, as it should, but when I unplug it, it doesn't switch back to the profile it was on before plugging it in, as the settings in this rule state it should. Finally, there is a setting I can manually toggle called "APN Data (GSM)". The Droid is on the CDMA network, not GSM, so what does activating / deactivating this setting do?

A buddy at work got an Incredible and he entered email address and PW and everything was set up for him automatically, full email/contacts/calendar sync, PIN lock/wipe set up.I was looking through some of the screen shots of the Incredible Exchange support, and frankly, Exchange support on the Incredible kicks the Droid's a** in this area.Image Gallery: Verizon HTC DROID Incredible; Functions and Applications | ZDNet Photo Gallery I'm impressed. HTC must have done a ton of work in this area, assuming that the basic exchange functionality in 2.1 on the Incredible is the same that comes w/2.1 on the Droid. If that support could be ported to the Droid (either as an entire ROM, or just the exchange support sliced off) that would be amazing.

I am a current BB user and am very interested in moving over to the Droid, but have concerns about getting my corporate Outlook email. We do not support Activesync; we have 3 methods for mobile access:
BEZ server for BB (not applicable with Droid)
GoodLink - I have not found that GoodLink is supported on the Droid?
VPN - this is how our iPhone users currently access email.
So I have a few questions:
Is GoodLink supported on the Droid?
Is VPN supported natively on the Droid - or is there a VPN client for the Drod? I am not a developer and don't want to mess with the root for any development, etc.
