Motorola Droid :: Launchers After FRG22D
Sep 5, 2010I have both ADW Launcher and LauncherPro installed and had been using them fine before the FRG22D update. However, now when I press the "Home" button, only the default launcher takes over. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both but nothing changed. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I might be able to get it so that I can switch launchers again?

Aug 30, 2010Im currently running FRG22D newest version OTA update and i am rooted using SPrecovery... last question i have is i know alot of developers use 2.1 as a base pattern for their ROM's... am i still able to use ANY ROM i want or am i limited to only using ones that are formatted in the FRG22 series?? Nov 4, 2010I'm a noob but planning to root my Moto Droid using the method outlined by OMJ in All Things Root (Rooting the Droid without rsd lite up to and including FRG22D). To this point, I have downloaded and installed the Motorola Drivers and ADB Toolkit. I have verified that I can see the Droid in a CMD window with the "ADB Device" command. Before I preceed, I wanted to make sure that understand where I will be at the end. I know this is an easy question for lots of rooters but I just wanted to make sure I understand.
At the end of commands and on reboot, my phone will be rooted. I should have the Superuser icon. My data and settings will all be intact. I will have the stock ROM (FRG22D), stock recovery, stock kernal, etc. At this point, I should be able to install ROM Manager which will, in turn, allow me to install ClockworkMOD recovery. At this point, a Nandroid backup is recommended. I can also download SetCPU that will allow me to overclock the stock kernal to 800 Mhz. ROM Manager will allow me to download a custom kernal for overclocking to 1 Ghz (and higher but I plan to start with what others have recommended). Again, my data and setting are intact because I am still using the stock ROM. Any apps requiring root (i.e. WiFi teather) should work fine at this point. I can go back to stock unrooted at anytime by flashing the FRG22D stock sbf file with RSD Lite although any user data will be lost. Does this sound correct?. I know that many folks are going for the custom ROMs but I feel more comfortable with "baby steps" in that direction.
Motorola Droid :: ESD56 (2.01) To FRG22D (2.2)?
Oct 5, 2010I am on ESD56 (2.01) and I want to go to FRG22D (2.2). What is the best way to get there? Can I do it in one shot or do I need to go step by step by step (and what are the step versions?). Happy to stay un-rooted, with my stock Verizon phone. Am out of the country for a while, I have wifi but no cell or data roaming just now.

Oct 29, 2010Droid frg22d update stops syncing with exchange 2010 - Verizon Wireless Community. Apparently I'm not the only one with elevated frustration. Short version of the story:
- Spent hours on the phone w/Moto & Verizon explaining that my OG Droid will no longer connect to ActiveSync w/ Exchange 2010 SP1.
- Verizon & Moto both admit problem.
- Moto says they're working on it. Verizon says to pay $44.95 a month and it will work.
- If I hear one more "supervisor" tell me that it's my problem, and to either pay more, or use TouchDown ($20 app that sucks by the way) I am going to start a class action. Yes, I have the money, and no, I'm not bluffing.
- Please post your woes on this forum as I am starting a case # with the BBB on this matter and I need as much ammo. as possible.
Motorola Droid :: Venison Wireless FRG22d
Aug 24, 2010Verizon Wireless is supposed to be releasing FRG22d today (Aug. 24th 2010) I want to know if there is any way to save all of my settings that I use in Handcent SMS because I have done a factory reset about 3 or 4 times now and handcent is always my biggest problem when reinstalling my apps, just because of all of the custom settings. Is there a way to save these settings to my SD card or something to be automatically applied after the factory reset and cache wipe?

Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?

Jun 13, 2010I've had my Droid since February and have it rooted. I've been using Smoked Glass v6.0.1 ROM and now I'm ready to change things up. I have ROM manager premium but I'm too overwhelmed by all the choices. I've been trying to research the different ROMs out there but there are too many.
Can we make a list here of what ROMs do what? For instance I've read Bugless Beast is great for speed but Ultimate Droid is better if you want looks and don't care about speed. Don't even get me started on CyanogenMod. There are way to many options with that one.

Mar 22, 2010In here you can put what rom you are running and all the info, OC range kernels all that, and a screen shot of the main home screen. and you can discuss on which one is better. what one has that the other doesn't and etc.... i like talking about all that for some reason.
I'm running CYANOGEN MOD 5.0.5 W/ 24K THEME AND OC RANGE OF 1000-800MHZ. I have in the past run simmply stunning and smoked glass and droid mod and the desire build roms. i find cyanogen to be the smoothest and most customizable to me. I also like the updater its all very easy to use.
cons: i dont like clockwork recovery, im use to SPRecovery.
All in all CYANOGEN MOD IS THE BEST TO ME.

Sep 13, 2010I rooted my X with the androot, downloaded all of the apps that was in the app list to get once rooted, downloaded FlyX and installed, however once the phone restarted, stuck on the big M luckily i had a backup ready to go so i restored the phone, last night however i wasnt so lucky, i tried the new 2.3 update, and well lets say big M for 30 mins til i was able to flash it back to stock. i know i am doing these steps the correct way, i make a backup each time, and i check the cache data.

Mar 10, 2010I just got my refurb today and it wont let me install the smoked glass roms neither v4 or v5. i rooted the phone with no problems. and i had smoked glass running perfect on my other phone.
I go to "advanced nandroid restore" then "choose backup" and i choose the smoked glass rom then the phone says: "nandroid exited with status 25." and if i try to use the backup rom i made it says "nandroid exited with status 21". any ideas? ive tried several times today with same results.
Motorola Droid :: Rooting 2.1 ROMS
Feb 18, 2010I'm rooted, and swap roms, backup everything pretty confidently (thanks again to Joe for helping me get in the pool).
But there are some things I don't understand. I really want to go to a 2.1 ROM. I've tried a few with verying degrees of happyness, and some of the later ones I've tried just send me through enless reboot cycles. I've tried Pete's new one (figuring if anybody put out something dependable it would be him) and though it boots up FAST and runs great, after playing around for a while it sends me through reboot cycles and freezes up.
I always follow all instructions to the "T", so it makes no sense that others are having success when I am not. Is there some other process that I have to go through that are just unspoken "common sense" steps among the more advanced users that aren't outlined in install instructions? Or am I just supposed to let the phone do it's thing for a while after installing? It just makes me nervouse when it is looping through 3-5 reboots in a row.

Jul 28, 2010I just got my droid (ONLY the droid, no battery, backplate, or charger) lol. I know irritating right. Well since I have a couple days before everything comes that I need, i am contemplating on which ROM to put on it. I have done some reading and seems that the majority of people are happy with BB (right?)
But my question is:
What about Kernals? I have heard to flash new Kernals for overclocking and such, but should I flash a different Kernal or do the ROMS already have the fastest Kernal installed on them? Not sure if this question makes sense, but I'm just trying to get the fastest ROM & Kernal available for my Droid.
