Jan 16, 2010Is there any way or app that can tell me the current clocks my Droid CPU is running at? I just rooted and have an OC widget installed. Just want to see if it is functioning properly.

View 1 RepliesI plan to get a Droid X here sometime in the coming month, and I'm terribly excited about it. One thing I'd really like to be able to do is check my university email on my phone, without having to go through a browser. Is it possible that I'll be able to do so? When I go to log in to the website where I check my email, it says "Microsoft Exchange" at the top. I've heard others mention "exchange" email accounts. Is this what it's referring to? Will I be able to check my universal inbox and get my school email?

Just found and downloaded BUZZDECK app. This is a app that kinda makes a lot of individual apps obsolete because they can all be in this app. Buzzdeck updates you on subjects such as Technology, celebrities,news ,funny stuff etc. It also allows you to add your own cards like every and any social networking sites. Its in beta and its free. I love it already,check it out. Add your finds here.
View 10 Replies View RelatedHow do you stop the phone from checking for and applying OTA updates? I had rooted mine, and I pulled it out of my pocket tonight to find that it had updated itself. I haven't check what effect that has had on my root yet, but I expect that it will cause problems now or in the future.
On the EVO, there's a menu option to stop the update checker, but I didn't see that on the X.
Just got my X a couple days ago and want to make sure I have the latest system updates. I have tried several times, but when I do Settings/About Phone/System Update, it always says: "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later." I interpret this to mean that the update facility is down or busy, but it could also be interpreted to mean that there is no update available because I have the latest. What does it actually mean? By the way, my firmware version is listed as "2.1 update1" - is that the latest?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed SetCPU and found it very confusing. I went into the market and uninstalled/refunded it. I got a message saying uninstall failed but it is no longer showing in my list of installed apps. My phone is very choppy/leggy now. Is there a way of checking my current CPU speed? I am wondering if when I uninstalled the app my CPU remained at my minimum setting.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried several alarm clocks on my droid, and they all seem to have a problem. if I set alarms for 6:30, 6:41, and 6:52 am. Each with a different sound. If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I have yet to receive the OTA update for our DXes. I verified my system version is still .516. Every time I hit "System Updates" it either gives me a quick "can't do that right now" message or it sits and spins forever on "checking for available update". I have not received any notifications of an update being available.
Is it just my household? Is anyone else experiencing this? And does anyone have advice for me, besides "be patient"?
What clock application is everyone using for their night stand when its bedtime?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith the kickstand, the phone makes for a great desk clock when I'm just sitting at my desk. I was wondering if you could recommend other apps that would be useful while my phone is idle? A better desk clock, besides the stock HTC one? Weather? News ticker? etc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSeems I had taken a screenshot of my lock screen and *that* is what I set as my lock screen wallpaper. Once I tried a default wallpaper all was fine. When I went back to input what I wanted from my gallery, I realized I'd chosen a photo from the screenshot folder. Very red faced here.

Never seen this before, but suddenly after a factory reset I have two clocks overlapping one another on the lock screen. It's not like a ghosting effect, but you can tell they're overlapping because their alignment is slightly different from one another. They are two different times, an AM and a PM. Very weird!
In Settings --> I have:
Multiple Widgets uncheckedLock Screen Widgets --> Clock or Personal Message = ClockDual Clock OFFClock size = have tried all sizesShow Date = uncheckedShortcuts = OFF but they are showing up anyway which is fine, I usually have shortcuts there but turned off trying to get rid of one of these clocks.
I also just noticed that all the icons at the very top have ghosts and they're all blurry.
Turn up the ringer on the alarm clocks?
I know simple question but I can't figure it out for the life of me?
My clock widgets have all shown the correct time and place since I received my Hero. On Saturday, all of a sudden the clock is off by 5 hours but showing the correct location. I restarted my phone and the correct time would show up, but as soon as the phone sleeps and I wake it up, the clock is off by 5 hours again!!! I checked the settings for the clock and it is set to the network time and gps for current location. I had to download a clock widget off the market because I could not figure it out. Anyone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the phone to check voicemails, why doesn't the keypad come up automatically with checking them? My HTC Touch and phones before this did. If you put a number in for the password, it should pop up to enter it without hitting the keypad icon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to turn off auto correction and word prediction. I need a way to optionally spell check text after I've finished typing in a text field. Is there a way out of the box to do that? Do I need an additional application? If so, what's the best one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there are just two way to check minutes? either log on to sprint website or call them....
any other easier way? am i missing something is there any sprint app?
I just want to be able to check my minutes quickly when i want.. since it's only 450 i don't wanna fuck up.
I guess it's only $10 more for 900 minutes if I tell them right now.
I installed the Missed Reminder app on my phone this weekend but I've read around here that this is a big battery drain program. By navigating to the Battery usage section within the Android settings, the Missed Reminder app doesn't even show up. Does this mean the app is NOT draining, or am I looking in the wrong area?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to check whether there is any direct API available to check whether a particular Database exists or not ?
Currently, to initialize data for the first time (not repeatedly), we try of open the db and if it fails we know the database does not exists otherwise it is already created and initialized.
Is there any simple API available to check whether DB exists or not ?
I had a moment of paranoia in the theatre recently. I turned phone off, couldn't remember if I'd turned the phone off, then realised the only way to check the phone was off was to press the button at the top, which if the phone was on would bring me to the screen unlock thing... but if it was off, would turn it on. Is there a way to check its 'offness' without turning it on?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI am working on a simple app for the HTC EVO that blinks the alternate notification LED when a new text message is received. I have this part working great via a Broadcast Receiver but I need some way to turn the LED off when the user has read the message(s) using their default SMS app. I'm not sure if it is best to do this in the receiver or in a background service.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else here have this problem? After I tap "Check Now", the little "Checking..." circle keeps going around for hours. No message about failing or finding anything - just the circle going around and around and around... I checked on the HTC website, but only find one or two more people with this problem. Anyone here have or had the problem and successfully got the update later?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I checked my Battery Use and it shows Android System at 71%. What determines this and how do I get it to go down? The phone is only a day old and I haven't installed any apps yet. I just have gmail (mail, calendar, contacts) on auto-sync as well as an exchange email on HTC Mail on auto-sync.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone know how to check the user's country? I'm looking for a way that's faster than using GPS and reverse geocoding. (I need the country where the phone is registered, not their current location, in any case.) Is there any constant in the settings?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to programmatically without root check and see how a program was installed?
The only solution I've been able to find is using root - and tapping into a database that the Vending application uses;
CREATE TABLE assets10(_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, content_uri TEXT, s tate TEXT, download_pending_time INTEGER, download_start_time INTEGER, install_t ime INTEGER, uninstall_time INTEGER, size INTEGER, type TEXT, package_name TEXT, is_forward_locked TEXT, signature TEXT, refund_timeout INTEGER, version_code IN TEGER, server_string_id TEXT UNIQUE);
Most specifically I can check to this database using my package name and/or signature and see if it's ever been installed by the market. Then if it has you could check to see if it's been uninstalled.
As for background, I'm just messing around with ways to distinguish real users from pirated versions. I've noticed from an application I've posted that I only have approximately 100 downloads and 50% active, yet my server which is used by the application shows approximately 200ish unique users within the past few days.
I have a string called extStorageDirectory which is set to my SD Card and then "/mypics", I can then save a picture in to this directory, but only if the directory exsists. So how do I check to see if the directory exsits, and if it doesn't creates the directory?

I was offered an update and the instruction book, p203, recommends me to check that the automatic backupis enabled by HOME>MENU>Settings>Privacy.
However there is no "privacy" heading in the list of options.
How to make the check?
