So I checked my Battery Use and it shows Android System at 71%. What determines this and how do I get it to go down? The phone is only a day old and I haven't installed any apps yet. I just have gmail (mail, calendar, contacts) on auto-sync as well as an exchange email on HTC Mail on auto-sync.

I installed the Missed Reminder app on my phone this weekend but I've read around here that this is a big battery drain program. By navigating to the Battery usage section within the Android settings, the Missed Reminder app doesn't even show up. Does this mean the app is NOT draining, or am I looking in the wrong area?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor no apparent reason, my phone stopped checking for email (on 5 separate accounts) G-mail still pushed fine, so it took a couple of days for me to notice, but in the meantime, my battery life nearly doubled.
A re-boot fixed the email issue and battery life is back to normal- 12-18 hours average use. I had set the other five accounts to check for mail at varying times. One was set for every 30min, the rest were every 2 hours (or more).
I did not realize what a battery drain email checking was causing.
I accidentally checked ASTRO for the default application to select photos on my wallpaper menu.Is there a way to revert it back to select a non-default application, so if I want to use a photo program, I can use that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am rooted, s off, 2.15 radio, running Froyo from Incredible_Froyo_3.21.605.1_rooted_unmodified_sign ed.zip. Everything is running fine. I can access the SD card and the phone storage without any errors. However, I have a constant notification that reads "preparing phone storage.....checking for errors....." I took out the SD card before booting, and I still have the error message. Therefore, it is not the SD card. I have searched around and cannot find a way to get rid of the message.

While i do like the way the spell checker integrates with the incredible there is one huge annoyance that i hope that there is a way around. When i'm typing a lot of times i'm typing a word that i want to use but i don't want added to the dictionary. How can you get the spell checker to get out of the way in these cases? I have found one way but its a major pain to do. You have to click somewhere earlier in your sentence and then click the end again to start typing. If you hit space it uses one of the suggestions or if you try to click what you've entered it adds it to the dictionary (which is not what i want).

InputStream is = Resources.getSystem().openRawResource(resourceId)
However, I want to get all Drawable resources where I won't know their ID's beforehand. Is there a collection I can loop through or perhaps a way to get the list of resource ID's given the resources in my project?
Or, is there a way for me in Java to extract all property values from the R.drawable static class?
I have a pop e-mail account set up on my incredible to check every 10 minutes for new e-mail, but it never does. the only time it checks for new mail is when I manually launch the mail app. My Gmail account works fine. I will send myself a e-mail from my gmail account to my pop e-mail account (another email address) and that email will not hit my incredible until I manually launch the mail app.

I turned phone off, couldn't remember if I'd turned the phone off, then realised the only way to check the phone was off was to press the button at the top, which if the phone was on would bring me to the screen unlock thing... but if it was off, would turn it on. The only solution I've been able to find is using root - and tapping into a database that the Vending application uses;

Most specifically I can check to this database using my package name and/or signature and see if it's ever been installed by the market. Then if it has you could check to see if it's been uninstalled.
As for background, I'm just messing around with ways to distinguish real users from pirated versions. I've noticed from an application I've posted that I only have approximately 100 downloads and 50% active, yet my server which is used by the application shows approximately 200ish unique users within the past few days.
I have a string called extStorageDirectory which is set to my SD Card and then "/mypics", I can then save a picture in to this directory, but only if the directory exsists. So how do I check to see if the directory exsits, and if it doesn't creates the directory?

Unfortunately, when I'm debugging on my Android device, this returns false when I have both a network and a wireless connection.
Some interesting tidbits about connec.getNetworkInfo(0):

Clearly this code is not sufficient (perhaps it would only return true if I sent some bit over the network and turned the radio on?). Moreover, since I'm not well versed in the ConnectivityManager, I'm assuming I should probably be scanning all networks (ie: getNetworkInfo(0 through N)).
