I looked at every guide there is and im pretty sure I have a good grasp on the rooting concept. Anyway, I did the update.zip from the recovery menu. Then I went into Rom Manager and installed CyanogenMod. Unfortunately it got rid of all my default apps. market, etc. Also, does anyone else recommend a different rom? Whats the most commonly used one?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan't download any CyanogenMod ROMs from ROMManager. I have the paid version and I keep getting download errors because it can't find the host. I verified by grabbing the host off the manifest in ROMManager and pasting that into the browser. No go. It looks like either a domain is moving or got knocked off line.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was running a custom 2.2 rom with clockwork recovery installed via Rom Manager.
Anyways, I started having a few problems so I was going to take it to stock and redo everything.
I have the stock 2.1 sbf file and I put it back to my phone using RSD lite.
It installed fine except it changed my PRL number to some weird higher number and now I can't get my phone to activate because it has the roaming triangle and is roaming on US Cellular.
I reinstalled my custom rom and used rom manager to restore the image I had saved before I recovered and all is well except I cannot activate my phone because I can't see a verizon network.
I even went into the programming menu and replaced the SID, MDN and MIN with all the settings in my Droid X but no dice.
I have found a way to write a new PRL but I can't get the HW virtual port app to work. So basically I am stuck.
I've scoured endlessly on Google looking for the best apps for Vibrant. Then I thought why not ask actual users,
These are MY apps on my vibrant:
WHERE - a restaurant finder. Pretty good, I've had issues with the app pinpointing my location, but could have been a fluke.
YELP - another restaurant finder.
FACEBOOK - no introduction needed. This app really needs an update. Keeps switching me b/w the app and the mobile site. Some of my mail threads on fb stop halfway and I can't see new replies.
MOTRIS - a tetris style game. Kind of good but hard to move the pieces around.
TASK MANAGER - an app killer. Pretty good. Could be a lot better, though.
FANDANGO - an app that helps you find theaters near you. Good.
What do you have?
Has anyone noticed that when you install an application manually vs a downloaded one from the market it doesn't update when a newer version comes out?

Not sure if this is an issue with the ROM I'm using (Sapphire 1.0), ADW Launcher, or just an issue with Android. Any app I have installed on SD doesn't show its icon. Example, I had a shortcut to Vignette on my home screen. Once I moved it to SD it no longer showed the little Camera icon, just a generic Android icon. This happened with every app I moved.

Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? View 8 Replies View RelatedMy original phone kept shutting off and then wouldn't boot into the Android OS, so I took it back to Verizon today and they replaced. They swapped out the SD card from the original phone and put it into the new phone. Here is the interesting part, two of my apps were on the new phone without me having to go to the market and download them again. Shopsavy and Robo defense free were both on the new phone right at the start up of the new phone, leading me to believe that full apps can be installed to the SD card? The only thing I could think of to explain them being back on my phone but not on the SD card would be that part of the program was on the SD card and when it booted up it say the .exe for the program wasn't there so it went out automatically and downloaded them again without me giving the phone permission to do so. I don't think I'll hit the 256 max anyways but considering the concensus is that you can't save the entire app to the SD card I found this interesting.

I'd like to create the list in the even that I need to reset the phone at some point (and also 'cause I'm a bit OCD about backing all kinds of stuff up). I've reset my phone four times (due to returns for HW issues) and have never had the google backup process actually restore my apps for me (and yes, backup is turned on in Settings). So anyone know of an automated process or marketplace app to do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the NexTheme R2, and then restored all my apps with MyBackup Pro. My apps are on my phone but if I go to the android market place it's as if they are not installed. If I proceed to install the app it informs me that it is going to overwrite the current app. Is there a way to register installed apps without reinstalling each app? I am afraid that I will not receive updates due to the phone thinking the apps are not installed.

I've been playing around with Home++ lately and have really been liking the feel of this home replacement. Currently I'm using DxTop and while I am really impressed with it as well, I feel like changing it up a bit.
I'm just wondering if having both of them installed on my phone is going to kill the battery faster, make it lag, or generally cause any issues with normal phone operation. Also, if I select to use one of them as my default home screen, does it automatically stop the other one or will I have two home replacements running at once?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI rooted my One X a while back and it has been fine and only now I decided to install a ROM.
I went for Cyanogenmod 9 and followed the instructions to install it on my phone.
IT went smoothly and runs okay as far as I can tell apart from Recovery Mode.
Everytime I go to boot into recovery it just starts the phone as usual. It doesn't get stuck on the boot screen or anything, it starts just like normal but it doesn't start in recovery!
I have tried doing to through the Power + Volume Down method and through CLockworkMod app, no luck.
I have also tried to reflash Recovry but it still doesn't start.
I had cwm recovery rom running, but i did not install it. then i installed cyanogenmod. now recovery is cyanogenmod, but i want it to be cwm recovery.
when i boot into recovery, i get cyanogenmod. adb and fastboot commands do not seem to be working. like i cant switch to fastboot via adb reboot bootloader. (is that because i flashed the custom rom???)
google play is not installed yet either because adb and fastboot isnt working like it was before i flashed cyanogenmod. i was going to try to download the cwm rom manager again to install (permanently) cwm recovery rom.
So I just flashed CyanogenMod 11 on LG G2 and forgotbto flash GApps on my phone and when I try folowwing CyanogenMod steps to booting into recovery mode it won't and it just boots back into the operating system. I think Clockworkmod got deleted when I flashed the operating system. So I can't install it without gapps and I need my apps!

I don't want them on the dock of course but on my home screen I cannot get the app icons to come back. For the life of me I can't find anything in either the system or nova settings to get the labels back. I have TouchWiz 5.0 theme installed.

And it does not install, it says: "Application not installed". Why this?

I tried rooting my cliq using the instructions on Unlockr. I flashed the phone but thereafter it would only turn on, pull up the MotoBlur sign in and have a date of 12/31/1969 at 7PM. I can't sign in to MotoBlur at that point and have to basically reinstall the most recent update and start from scratch again. All I want to do is remove those pre-installed apps that I never use.
