View 13 RepliesI had one on my old Storm, and I liked it, but I thought I'd post here first to see if any Droid owners have installed it yet. I hate the glare I get on my phone (and fingerprints too), especially while docked in my car. I know this will help but I was a bit hesitant. Anyone have it installed?
View 49 Replies View RelatedGot my Boxwave Anti Glare screen today and wanted to provide a review for folks who are on the fence.
It came by USPS in an envelope. It was in a thin plastic bag with instructions, one of those microfiber cloths, and something called a cleartouch applicator (basically a thin piece of plastic/cardboard hybrid used to smooth out bubbles under the screen).
Application seemed easy but there was so much dust, hairs, etc getting stuck to the adhesive side of the screen. I read up on a tip here in the forums about applying it in the bathroom with the shower running on hot. That worked really well to say the least. I also took some scotch tape in there with me and removed some lint on there. Before I applied it, I ran it through the hot water in the shower real quick and shook it like a polaroid camera before applying. There were many water droplets on the screen's adhesive side but when I put it on they disappeared and eventually evaporated.
I got it on there pretty nice with no bubbles. There are a few tiny bubble like things on the side but not on the screen and invisible when the screen is on. The screen did indeed lose its nice smooth glass touch. Instead theres a bit of a plasticy feel. But it has its own nice feeling to it so I'm liking it now. There was also loss of optical clarity, definitely noticeable but not to a first time user. but that was easy for me to get used to.
The anti glare works great! I played a video for my mom, sister and I to watch with the lights on and they were able to see it from the angles they were sitting at. Also, smudges and fingerprints are GREATLY reduced, however they still occur. Fingerprints are only noticeable if your hard press the screen and then look for them in the light. Same goes for facial oils.
All in all I am greatly satisfied with my purchase. I was able to rinse the thing in water, apply it under "steamy" conditions and see the amazing results. Yes there is a significant noticeable loss of clarity and you do lose the smooth glass feeling. But the new feeling is just as easy to get used to and does not interfere with touch sensitivity one bit.
i have nothing on my screen right now but its hard to see the screen outside so im looking for antiglare whats the best thing out right now to get for this
View 3 Replies View RelatedTwo weeks ago I got the Clarivue ultra-clear screen protector and wrote a review which can be read here. I wanted to try the anti-glare version so I e-mailed Clarivue and they happily exchanged my ultra-clear for an anti-glare version. They sent me the anti-glare version first so that my screen could remain protected in agreement that I would send back the ultra-clear protector. So now this review will cover Clarivue's anti-glare screen protector. Packaging was the same as the ultra-clear protector, so I will not post pictures of the package, only pictures of the protector on the phone. Two different backgrounds so that you can compare the color and contrast with the protector on. I apologize for the blurriness of the second picture.
The application process: Application of this product was still very simple. This time around, however, I applied the protector while the hot water from my shower was steaming my bathroom. It helped with the dust a bit though I still managed to get two little pieces in there. I easily got rid of them with some tape.

where I can find an anti-glare matte screen protector for my Moto Droid?
View 6 Replies View Related-It came quickly
-Installation was very simple (sans flimsiness, see cons), it's a tad smaller so it's easy to get on.
-Came with awesome equipment for installation, like latex finger covers
-Totally fingerprint resistant, as to be expected with anti glare
-It's definitely ANTI-glare
-Really thin, so no sensitivity is lost
-Feels EXTREMELY smooth, I prefer the feel to the standard glass
CONS:
-Makes the screen have a terrible rainbow effect on all lighter screens, a lot worse than I expected, I have an anti glare on my iPod Touch that I LOVE, it doesn't do this rainbow effect nearly as bad. I don't know if it's the screen of the products, or just the difference in protectors, but it's noticeable. Note: I also keep little to no brightness on either of them -There seems to be no adhesive anywhere around the edges of the film, because even with the protector dead center there is a border of bubble (well it just doesn't lay flat). Though if you use a case this would be nonexistant as it would probably cover it -The thinness is a tradeoff, because while it does help with the sensitivity, it's a PIA to put on cause it's so flimsy. So yeah, overall I'm content with it, but it could be much better. I just have to have anti-glare, cause to me I can't STAND fingerprints. Actually the anti-glare I could care less about, these might as well be called anti-fingerprint to me.
I can't find any posts that actually have comparison pictures. I've read reviews but need to see physical evidence that one is better then the other. I'm annoyed with the constant finger prints whipping, so I'd imagine that anti-glare would be the preferred choice. Then again I don't know what the contrast will look like afterward. This is my dilemma

View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to decide between a Zagg and a anti-glare cover. Who knows where I can buy a good anti-glare screen protector?
View 2 Replies View RelatedInstalled my clarivue last night. It was really easy to install. This really helps with visibility outside, the screen isn't reflective like a mirror anymore. The touch screen doesn't feel as good as naked, but it repels fingerprints so I think it's worth the trade off. Excuse the dust.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI didnt realize how good the quality of the display of the phone (anit-glare/smudge i had on made it not shiny any kinda blury)! I might have to leave it off when i get the new/like-new one im getting!! I mean its gorilla glass anyway so its almost scratch proof right?? you guys have screen protection or no? Id like to see the majority
View 13 Replies View RelatedAbsolutely LOVELY. Went on beautifully with no bubbles or trapped dirt, though I must explain my application process. I did like most users suggested and ran a steaming hot shower and closed the doors, from here I used a sticky sheet that came with my iPod Touch screen protector that you lay on the device and then peel off to remove all dust, then cleaned all smudges with the microfiber cloth.
To put on, I simply peeled back the top end of the protector only, with the hard card thingy they give you for bubbles in my other hand, then slowly lined up the protector on the top edge and over the earpiece, from here I just squeegeed down the phone, peeling back more and more until it was on, then I got rid of all other little bubbles, and that was that! Perfectly applied!
Thoughts:
So I am very used to anti glare/fingerprint protectors, as I am totally unaccepting of the slightest smudges, so I am very accustomed to the clarity loss, but I do understand that this has been a problem with others who have purchased this protector. I can say that it is not really any worse than any other anti glare protectors, and there's hardly any rainbow effect on white screens, if any at all, which is a big improvement over the lexerd anti glare I had on before this one (we won't get into much of that, just don't ever buy it).
NO fingerprints show, it's amazing, I mean with my other one it would heavily reduce them, but they would still sort of show in direct light, here, NONE! And the matte feeling gives the best feeling and sound when swiping (or should I say Sywpe-ing) on the touch screen.
I HIGHLY recommend this protector if you want the anti-glare and no fingerprints and of course don't mind the recuction in screen clarity, and with the Droid and its beautiful screen, this can be a bit hard, but if you can sacrifice a bit, you will be extremely happy!
Been looking at some of the Anti virus apps on the droid. Which ones are good, and are they really needed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot my DInc yesterday, ordered in store 5/14, shipped 5/28, arrived 6/1 (thank you, holiday weekend.) Charged it to 100% and started exploring. Went to bed last night with the battery around 40%, left it ON intentionally to run down, was at 14% when I got up, now down to 5%. Will let it die then charge while turned off. Overall I am impressed. Love the feel of the phone (except the plastic back doesn't seem to be very durable.) It's VERY fast (I came from a Razr2 V9m) and the apps are great. Went crazy trying to set up Yahoo! Mail until I realized I needed to TURN OFF WIFI so it would authenticate. Soon as I did that, I was good to go. Used a few Twitter apps, love Hootsuite (I use that on the web) but it's unstable, so I'm using Twitter for Android and am happy with that. Have not used Friendstream yet. Created a Google Account just for my contacts, cleaned them up and had them ready when I activated the phone, everything came in clean. Call quality is excellent even with 1-2 bars, speaker sounds great. Controls are well placed. Overall it's clearly the best phone I've ever owned. Still have a lot to learn. Wish I'd had it over the weekend, I'd be a pro by now. :/
Boxwave screen protector: great item (got the non-glare one). Didn't know I needed a Clean Room to install it. Literally went from the factory plastic to the Boxwave and still managed to get dust underneath. Removed & cleaned it per the instructions, reinstalled, and now have EVEN MORE dust bubbles. I'll try again. The protector itself is awesome, love the matte finish it gives the phone, no fingerprints. Just a royal PITA to install (I guess they all are.) Using the black rubberish VZW combo holster/case. The holster is okay but as others have reported the phone doesn't snap in very securely. Anyone with an active lifestyle had better keep it vertical or it's probably gonna slide out. The case has a really nice feel and offers some but not complete protection (exposed top & bottom edges), but it's fine for me for now. Pretty sure I'm going to get a Seido Innocase and see how it fits with the VZW holster, or, just bite the damn bullet and get the Seido holster as well. That is, unless Accessory One gets their act together and eventually sends me the CORRECT leather pouch I ordered. :/ At that point, I might have to go commando (just a screen protector) but we'll see. I do like how the VZW case makes it so the camera lens isn't touching anything when you lay the phone on its back. Decisions, decisions....................
I have decided to give the boxwave crystal clear screen protector a try since I use my hero for video now. I have one question about it though. Does it scratch very easily?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI subscribe to the church of not using a task killer but what I really would like is an app that I can select programs I don't want android to kill.
An example of why I want this: theres 3 to 4 websites I view for the most part on my phone. I like to open my browser and get it all set up in tabs on Dolphin. However, if I don't use it for while, I re-open the browser to find it had been closed and I have to repeat.
I'd use this in conjunction with the app that monitors CPU use (forgot what it was) and gives a notification if an app rises over a customized threshold in case the app started getting too hungry.
Only bad thing is it makes the screen a bit grainy looking. It really cuts down on glare and full sun wash out.

Does anything like this exist out there?
I know that there are a lot of anti-theft apps, but from what I understand they are completely useless if the thief restores factory settings, deleting the app. I would like an anti-theft app integrated in the ROM, so it will survive a factory reset and detect a thief, as long as he doesn't flash another ROM!
