HTC Droid Eris :: Anti - Glare / Clear Screen Protector?

Jan 23, 2010

I can't find any posts that actually have comparison pictures. I've read reviews but need to see physical evidence that one is better then the other. I'm annoyed with the constant finger prints whipping, so I'd imagine that anti-glare would be the preferred choice. Then again I don't know what the contrast will look like afterward. This is my dilemma

Motorola Droid :: Clarivue Anti Glare Screen Protector

Jan 14, 2010

Two weeks ago I got the Clarivue ultra-clear screen protector and wrote a review which can be read here. I wanted to try the anti-glare version so I e-mailed Clarivue and they happily exchanged my ultra-clear for an anti-glare version. They sent me the anti-glare version first so that my screen could remain protected in agreement that I would send back the ultra-clear protector. So now this review will cover Clarivue's anti-glare screen protector. Packaging was the same as the ultra-clear protector, so I will not post pictures of the package, only pictures of the protector on the phone. Two different backgrounds so that you can compare the color and contrast with the protector on. I apologize for the blurriness of the second picture.

The application process: Application of this product was still very simple. This time around, however, I applied the protector while the hot water from my shower was steaming my bathroom. It helped with the dust a bit though I still managed to get two little pieces in there. I easily got rid of them with some tape.

Fit:...............

Motorola Droid :: Boxwave Anti Glare Screen Protector

Nov 25, 2009

I had one on my old Storm, and I liked it, but I thought I'd post here first to see if any Droid owners have installed it yet. I hate the glare I get on my phone (and fingerprints too), especially while docked in my car. I know this will help but I was a bit hesitant. Anyone have it installed?

Motorola Droid :: Lexerd Anti Glare Screen Protector Impressions

Jan 13, 2010

-It came quickly
-Installation was very simple (sans flimsiness, see cons), it's a tad smaller so it's easy to get on.
-Came with awesome equipment for installation, like latex finger covers
-Totally fingerprint resistant, as to be expected with anti glare
-It's definitely ANTI-glare
-Really thin, so no sensitivity is lost
-Feels EXTREMELY smooth, I prefer the feel to the standard glass

CONS:

-Makes the screen have a terrible rainbow effect on all lighter screens, a lot worse than I expected, I have an anti glare on my iPod Touch that I LOVE, it doesn't do this rainbow effect nearly as bad. I don't know if it's the screen of the products, or just the difference in protectors, but it's noticeable. Note: I also keep little to no brightness on either of them -There seems to be no adhesive anywhere around the edges of the film, because even with the protector dead center there is a border of bubble (well it just doesn't lay flat). Though if you use a case this would be nonexistant as it would probably cover it -The thinness is a tradeoff, because while it does help with the sensitivity, it's a PIA to put on cause it's so flimsy. So yeah, overall I'm content with it, but it could be much better. I just have to have anti-glare, cause to me I can't STAND fingerprints. Actually the anti-glare I could care less about, these might as well be called anti-fingerprint to me.

HTC EVO 4G :: Clarivue Anti Glare Screen Protector Isn't Reflective Like Mirror

May 31, 2010

Installed my clarivue last night. It was really easy to install. This really helps with visibility outside, the screen isn't reflective like a mirror anymore. The touch screen doesn't feel as good as naked, but it repels fingerprints so I think it's worth the trade off. Excuse the dust.

Motorola Droid :: Clarivue Ultra-clear Screen Protector Review

Dec 30, 2009

Some people like screen protectors, some don't. Some enjoy the fact that the Droid's glass is made of gorilla glass. Others are paranoid and rather not take the chance. I am both, so I decided to shell out a few bucks to get a screen protector. And after much reading on these forums, it came down to two types of protectors: anti-scratch (invisibleshield, bodyguardz, etc) or static (boxwave, clarivue). I decided the latter because I like the fact that it can be reapplied and it doesn't interfere with the screen's sensitivity.

I bought a Clarivue ultra-clear screen protector. As mentioned earlier, it is a static clear screen protector so it's washable, reusable, and durable. I chose Clarivue over Boxwave for three reasons. 1. It's cheaper ($9.89 shipped vs Boxwave $12.95). 2. It comes with two screen protectors (Boxwave comes with one). and lastly, 3. Lifetime warranty ($3 shipping and handling added with every exchange).

I should mention that I am in no way affiliated with Clarivue nor am I getting paid to write this review. Just a happy customer sharing my thoughts on this product to help other fellow droid members

So it all comes down to, how is it? Well here's a few pictures for the heck of it.

Also includes a cleaning cloth for your screen before you apply. Note, the screen protector is NOT blue, that's the protective layer on top of the clear screen protector. Also, I just noticed that the screen protectors are upside down. Sorry for the confusion.

I must say, this worked really well. It removed all dust, oils and any marking that I previously had on my screen and dried really fast, so I was able to apply the protector right after.

The application process:
It's easy to put it on. Once the screen is clean, simply remove the first layer on the screen protector (Marked #1), align it to the phone and apply. I used a credit card to get rid of the bubbles. I did it in my dusty room so there were a few particles of dust that got in the way as I was putting it on, so I simply lifted the protector with tape and with another piece of tape wrapped around my finger I gently picked the dust off the screen and protector, then reapplied.
*Tip*Some have shared that it's better to put the protector on while the shower has been running under hot water for some time so that steam in the bathroom knocks off any chance of dust getting in the way of the application process.

Fit:
Width wise, the protector fits perfectly. From border to border, it neatly covers the screen.
Height wise, the protector falls one millimeter short. Some people may like this, some may not. I could care less.
*Note* The screen is not TOTALLY protected due to the speaker cutout. As you'll notice in the picture below, the screen is exposed just above the speaker.

Clarity:
The website states that it offers ultra-clear (hence the name) clarity, and I believe it was 99%. I must say, the clarity surely is there. The screen is still just as bright when phone is on and when the screen is off, I can't tell that there's a screen protector.

Feel:
The protector gives it a smooth glass-like finish. It feels as smooth as it was without it.

Strength:
I'm not about to go start scratching the hell out of the protector to see how strong it is or dropping my keys on it. So as far as its ability to withstand scratches, I cannot mention at the moment. However, the website advertises an "Anti-scratch" feature, but probably not to the degree as the real anti-scratch protectors.

Fingerprints/oils/markings:
Because it is not the anti-glare model, the screen is still very much prone to finger prints, face oils, and other markings. Is it as prone as it was without it? No, but ever so slightly. It manages to decrease the amount of markings, but they are still noticeable.

Satisfaction:
I'm very satisfied with Clarivue's ultra-clear screen protector. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in search of a screen protector. It fits really well, its very affordable, will keep it your Droid secure for those worried about deep scratches, and it's got lifetime warranty, so there's piece of mind

Final thoughts:
Though I cannot speak for Boxwave's quality of products, I can confidently say that other members in this forums and beyond are extremely happy with that particular brand. It would be great if I could compare them side by side, but I feel as though they would be very similar.

Shipping took 7 business days to California. It was either coming from Washington (Directly north of California) or Canada. I believe it took a longer time because of the holiday rush.

I haven't tried to detach the protector, wash it, and reapply it so as far as that feature goes I cannot comment. But I will try it soon since I've got some bubbles left (stupid dusty room) so I will come back and update on that soon.

If you're thinking about a screen protector, I would highly recommend a static screen protector. It hardly noticeable so you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. I'm confident that those who make this purchase will not regret it.

Lastly, if you're debating whether to get the anti-glare or the clear protector, it's all preference. You'll forfeit clarity for the convenience of anti-glare and no fingerprints. And vice versa. I'd love to try the anti-glare version, so Clarivue is you're reading this, hook it up

It's very sticky but I love how my screen pops, as my old one made it look pixel-y. IMO a good clear that swipes well is the way to go.

HTC Droid Eris :: Screen Durability - Protector?

Feb 3, 2010

There have been many wondering about the durability of the screen of the Eris. Does it need a screen protector? Is it easily scratched? Is it anything like the 'Gorilla Glass' that is used on the Droid?

The answers to these questions are yet unknown to most of us. We know the Droid's screen is impressively resistant, and that we like screen protectors.

After weeks of my Eris being naked (took off the screen protector and case), I began to worry, and think to myself, One of these times, I'm gonna scratch my screen. I know it.

I have much less fear now, after watching this.

Motorola Droid X :: Bubbles On Screen / Even When Screen Protector Removed

Oct 21, 2010

So I recently got a set of screen protectors and put one on.All was well just noticed a few bubbles and so I tried to work them out. They weren't going away, so I figured I would try again so I removed it and to my astonishment the bubbles were still there. It's like they formed under the screen somehow when I put the protector on, they were absolutely not there before. There are 2 in the center of the screen and a few along the edges. At first I just thought it was a water spot but I cannot wipe them off.The ones on the edge of the screen I can"push out" to the edge to almost make them disappear. When you touch them with the pads of your fingers you can feel a slight "bump" in the screen (very minute but still there). They bubbles are easily visible when the screen is off and almost go away when the screen is on but you can still tell they are there. Is this a defect in the phone or did I cause this trying to install the protector? I didn't push down hard on the screen, just applied the protector and they appeared.

I'm currently using the phantom skinz line and although I like the body protectors I think the screen protector has reduced some of the screen's clarity/sharpness. This wasn't an issue with the static protectors I got from verizon. The only reason I replaced the verizon ones is because they didn't cover the buttons along the bottom of the screen.
