Motorola Droid :: Battery Widget Update?
Mar 1, 2010I just noticed that the battery widget (mippin) has an update available..
View 3 RepliesI just noticed that the battery widget (mippin) has an update available..
View 3 RepliesBackground info:
- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)
I liked the looks of Battery Left, and gave it a try. I'm running the OEM extended battery.
Removed bulk of post since developer is working with me on pinpointing the issue.
So, looking for another good 1x1 battery widget that'll do increments of 1% - or at least 5%. Suggestions? I've found several that will just report the stock %, which doesn't help since stock will only do 10% increments.
The battery widget looks like BatteryLife by CurveFish but it is a little different. Is this because of a certain them installed that changes this or is it just a different app?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been trying pure messenger with updates every 3 hours but it still seems to be burning through battery quick. Anyone have suggestions?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI currently use the battery life widget but I feel it drains my battery looking for peoples opinions on the various apps out there for this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy cal widget does not update each day. I must reboot to update it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android so have probably missed something. I'm running a Droid X and looking for a simple way to get a snapshot reading of the battery (% charge mostly). I haven't found it yet on the standard phone, and the battery widgets from the marketplace do far more than I'm looking for and seem to have the side effect of draining the battery anyway.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a widget that shows the battery life in smaller increments, preferably 1% increments.
i have "Batterylife" But it only tells you every 10% which is annoying to me.
My calendar widget will not update to the current date. Right now it is showing that today is yesterday (which is when i placed the widget on my desktop). When I open the widget, the calendar shows the correct date, but on my desktop it doesn't.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAnyways, if your battery goes from 100% to 90% in less than 5-15 minutes, here's why.
First of all when your phone shows its fully charged, it really is NOT (UNLESS you charged it over night). In that case you will notice that from 100 to 90 stays a long while in between.
But if you charge it during the day and your phone has say 50-70% or whatever and you charge till phone shows is 100%. Your phone has NOT really charged to 100%, trust me!
To test, do this. Charge your phone when its down to 90%. Now plug it up, you will see the "lighting" icon showing charging. If your phone stops showing the icon the phone says it FULL to 100%. Most people will unplug and start using the phone. And they will see the phone go from 100 to 90 in no TIME.
But if you leave it plugged even if the phone shows fully charged for 1/2 to an hour you will get more battery life from 100 to 90!
So battery meter still not working properly. Come on Motorola, use your phones so you can notice these things. Stop using iphones for your personal use!
Here's the good things the OTA update did fix/improve.
This is at least the case with MY phone.
- X no longer gets hot while streaming video while on 3G. This was huge for me as the phone got very hot, but only on 3G, not wifi. FIXED
- When my phone was down to 30-40% in battery life. I would restart the phone and the battery would show 70% and stay there for a long while! For ME this is no longer the case. If its shows 30% and I restart the phone it will still show 30% after boot. FIXED.
I was just wondering what settings I can tweak to improve the X's battery life after the 2.2 update. I do not want to root or uninstall bloatware, though (I did that with 2.1 and had a bitch of a time getting the OTA 2.2 to install correctly).
View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else's battery go from 100% to 90% really fast? Mine does even after the update a couple weeks ago. I didn't know if it was just my phone. I charge it fully then after a few text messages it's on 90%. GPS is disabled, battery saver mode enabled, brightness 20%, social apps sync over WiFi only and that is never turned on.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I woke up really excited to get my Froyo update. The first day I had it I had an error that kept occurring because of the htc keyboard I had previously been using. After restoring the keyboard to stock that problem went away, but the biggest problem of all took the forefront. I can't go more than 5 hours without needing to charge my phone. Before the update I usually charged my phone daily because I am a relatively heavy user. After the update, I am not using my phone any more than before. Today I charged my phone 3 times. Some people have said it is the facebook app, but I uninstalled the latest updates. I have noticed many of my programs are opening up in the background on their own.
View 47 Replies View RelatedI had read that the froyo update helped battery life. Granted I have only had the phone 3 days, I am not noticing great battery life. I have everything shut off that I should, and I have done a factory reset right after the froyo update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust updated the Droid X, battery died, and I charged it to 100%. The battery is dropping like crazy. It just dropped 10% in 10 minutes of use. Anyone else? I have had consistently bad battery life on this thing.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI was at work yesterday. Up at 3:30 AM, at work at 4. Phone was on entire time. At about noon the battery was at about 50%. I was very excited about this. I put my phone down for 20 minutes, came back and it was down to 5%? Drained the entire battery yesterday and let it charge overnight. Haven't seen any problems. Didn't have anything like this before the update. I did a reboot and took battery out as well to see if it was a false read, but nothing...
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning I woke up and my droid had 20% charge left in it and it was fully charged when I went to sleep. This has never happened until after the update but I also got a new droid the same day. So I dont know if this is due to my new droid or the update. Has anyone else noticed this?
View 20 Replies View RelatedYesterday I clicked the update button on my droid, and now my droid is dead, all that appears is the motorola logo, even after pulling the battery. Of course technical support at Verizon has no clue what is wrong. The phone will not even turn off unless i take the battery out, the motorola logo shows until the phone goes dead.
As this is my second droid, I don't know that I want a 3rd one. My opinion is that the droid would be a neat smartphone-- if it worked. I doubt that anyone could ever consider using the droid as a business phone, since it randomly quits working. I've had many cell phones and blackberries and never had to return any of them.
I have the best buy protection plan, but not sure that entitles me to a new or different phone, since my droid is about 3 months old.
I just got my Droid X today and am worried about the battery life. How do I stop the updating of the facebook posts and the twitter posts? And how else can I preserve my battery life?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having major issues with battery drain on 2.1 (second leak) and after reading some threads here I removed the HTC battery widget. This appears to have solved the problem. Apparently the phone was not going to sleep when I had the HTC widget running. The awake time was nearly what the up time was. Without the HTC widget I do not have this issue.
Has anyone ran the Android Battery Widget on 2.1 and does it create the same problem?
Which battery widget drains the battery the least...from your experience?
View 13 Replies View RelatedWhich one is the most accurate?
View 41 Replies View RelatedWhich battery widget do you fellow Eris users use? I saw that HTC made one, but I've been using the one that mPippin developed since I got my phone. It's nice that it monitors the battery and lets me turn on/off WiFi, GPS and BlueTooth or change my display options from one press.
View 10 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else use this widget? its supposed to tell you down to the minute, what time your phone is going to die. ive been using it since last night, and the conditioning is still stuck on rough. does anyone who uses this widget know how long it should take to condition the battery? it says to fully charge and let it run all the way down, and im trying to do that but im also working on some side projects which requires my phone to be plugged into my laptop and consequently has been charging sporadically since about 2, and im worried that this is ruining the conditioning process.
View 5 Replies View Relatedbesides the power widget is there one you can download that just for gps that actually works and is problem free on the droid?.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy eris wont charge. i click on the battery widget and it says charging but it doesnt
View 3 Replies View RelatedSettings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> (scroll) Battery (or Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> Menu -> Filter -> 3rd Party -> Battery) The thing is 1.25 Mb in size, and has every system privilege under the sun. Honestly, why does a battery widget need to be able to read my bookmarks, browsing history, SMS messages, know my GPS location, yada? Compared to most apps, the thing seems pretty bloated, too - 1.25 Mb?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had been using the HTC Battery Widget while on 1.5 and it never caused me problems as far as I know with being a drain on the battery life. Now after the OTA on 2.1 my battery life seems to have gone down drastically and I heard that this widget could be the culprit. So, which battery widget are you using with 2.1 that is "safe" on overall battery life?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am stuck with this phone for another year. Finally got the cojones to root and not sure why i was scared but definitely like my phone much more. This sites been nothing short of the best thing i could have found for my phone.
Having trouble finding a good battery widget.
