I was wondering if theres any sort of setting or app i can use that would allow me to answer a phone call without putting in my pattern. It gets in the way during those "photo finish" call answerings where you push the button right before it goes to voice mail.

I just bought an X Cover 2 and I love it. There is just one small irritation for me. When I carry it in my pocket and somebody rings 50% of the time the phone cancels the call on its own. I'm guessing it is because it has a very sensitive touchscreen (really a lot more sensitive compared to my old Nexus One). So is there a way to make the phone answer calls only with the lock screen pattern?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the unlock pattern security feature on my droid and yesterday I noticed that when I am using the phone and I take the droid away from my ear and try to put it on speakerphone or end the call, I have the put the unlock code in. This was never the case before yesterday. I reset the phone and it worked for the rest of the day (the screen would not lock during a call), but today it started happening again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I went to the verizon store today and found out that I can upgrade to the Droid X ( was debating between droid 2 or X and still am confused). But upon checkout my card wouldn't work, it kept getting errors after manually entering and swiping it, so I'm going to head back this week with cash instead. *But anyways, I tried playing around with it a little and searched the phone for different unlock screens, couldn't find any. My questions is - Does the Droid x (even droid 2) have the lock screen where you get the grid and can make your own pattern to unlock? Like the lock screen for the G1 I used to have.

I couldn't find anything to do with lock screens while messing with it in store, but maybe I was looking in the wrong spot.
First, let me fully admit this is an annoyance to me. Second, let me fully admit this situation is 'as designed.' As was indicated by Verizon, FRG22D made some changes that 'improved security.' In particular the ability for Exchange admins to enforce security settings. Well, I have a hosted Exchange account (personal email) with 1&1. Post manual update to FRG22D, I am now required to have a PIN code to unlock the phone. No unlock code and the pattern are not available. So, every time my phone comes out of 'sleep' mode, I have to enter my PIN. Incredibly annoying...
Ultimately, it's an issue to work out with 1&1 to see if this can be changed. I see no setting in the options presented to me in the OWA settings or in 1&1's XAdmin panel. If anyone happens to know if this is easily changed... please let me know. Sorry for the partial rant, but I am incredibly annoyed.
If I do the incorrect pattern enough times, will it lock me out of my Droid for an extended time period? How long? How many tries do I get? The reason I ask is because, the Droid (ANNOYINGLY) suffers from a slight lag when brought out of sleep mode. Basically EVERY TIME I try to wake it and quickly enter my pattern, I will be halfway through it and it will hit a lag spike I guess and stops reading that I am touching it, and the first half of the pattern I was entering will be counted as an incorrect pattern, and as I continue to finish the pattern, the second half will be counted as an incorrect pattern. Basically, I use up 2 tries, and I would hate for this to happen, and then I go to enter the actual pattern and I just make a mistake, and use my last try up. So do you get only 3 tries?

I will hit the unlock button on the top and start to do my pattern, and all the sudden, it says that i lifted my finger... and takes two tries out....
I will hit the unlock button and start my pattern and the screen will shut off like there is no activity and i will have to hit the unlock button again, and start over.
Oh and how about this, tried both handcent and stock messaging app, i regularly have periods of long delay from both receiving and sending text messages, i will be sending one text and get a text sending overload message also.... then i will have periods of sending and receiving the exact same text 10-15 times in a row.... this happens all of the time and its extremely annoying....
I am currently using xtrROM 4.2 and like many - am SICK of pocket answering my Eris. (I know this happens regardless of rooting). Is there a way of completely disabling the slide unlock to answer the phone? Using the Green to answer, Red to deny works perfectly well. I want it like an "olden-days" dumb phone. Is it at all possible to modify/flash the ROM to render the screen inactive for this? Most threads point to unlocker apps, but I'm trying to avoid them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPrior to upgrading to 2.1 (UK) today, I used the pattern unlock feature (a great feature) to unlock my phone. After the 2.1 u/g was complete the phone reverted back to the unlock slider + entering a password. So, I head to settings->location & security settings-> phone lock settings. Now the only option I can access is 'Change unlock password', which is fine, but unfortunately the 'use visible pattern' & 'use tactile feedback' options are greyed out....however they each have a green tick against each item which I've taken to assume means they're enabled! If it's enabled where do I enter the pattern?
While I'm here....if I look in applications, filtering on all, for some reason I have three 'Settings Storage' apps for various sizes....this doesn't sound right?
I've entered a wrong pattern too many times. The phone now asks for my gmail username and password. I tried to enter them, but it doesn't accept the credentials. They are certainly valid, I know because I logged in via web browser with the same name/pass and it works.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is for an EVO but i'm thinking maybe it'll be similar to other android phones. what i'd to set up is to have the phone require the 'dot unlock pattern' after it's been sitting for 5 minutes idle. when i set it up with AutoLock, whenever the screen turns off after 1 minute, it'll rqeuire me to do the slide down to unlock which i don't want.

But just to point it out again the moment can be turned off or put on airplane mode even while its locked. This may be a bad thing if someone steals your phone and you want to use someones phone to either call or text it so that it will ring to find out who has it. All the thief has to do is put it on airplane mode or turn it off to deactivate ringers, sound, and gps.
Is there an app or option where I can use a passcode to unlock the phone rather than the pattern?And is there a way to track my phone through gps just in case it's lost or stolen?Any ideas or suggestions if a device someone rely relies on a lot is lost or stolen? My friend on his moment was able to add a message on the home screen saying "If found please contact "phone number" "email" and will be given a "$300" reward.
Got a question regarding the lock screen. I'm on 2.3.5 on a Skyrocket. If I let the screen timeout and come back to it in a few minutes, when I power on, no screen lock (just a wallpaper to swipe away). If I use the power button to put it to sleep (not physically power down), the next time I use the power button to turn it on, I'm presented with the pattern unlock screen. Is there a way to use the power button to turn the phone off without being presented with the unlock pattern every time (I'd like it to do this after maybe 15-30 minutes, but not immediately as it seems to be doing it now).

I made a really simple pattern so I won't forget it but still, that's a pretty huge feature so I don't need to do a hard reset if anything happens. Does anyone else have this issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did the manual OTA update to 2.1 and once I re-setup my exchange account it enforced the security policy (no surprise there thank god for LockPicker!). The Pattern Unlock stayed as well. So I would have to pattern unlock THEN input the 4 digit alphanumeric (major PITA) So after installing lockpicker I only had to pattern unlock - no problem.
Well I've had the dreaded "no-audio" bug a couple times since upgrading so I decided to try a hard reset before pursuing a warranty replacement. This time I did the same thing, setup my Exchange account and installed LockPicker. Now I do NOT have the pattern unlock. Under Security -> Screen Unlock Pattern I only have "Change Unlock Password" and there doesn't appear to be any way to enable the Pattern unlock.
Here is where it gets interesting. My friend has an Eris as well, is on the same exchange server and got 2.1. He is in the same boat that I was PRE 2.1 upgrade where he has the pattern unlock AND the password (I hipped him to LockPicker) and is now where I was with only the Pattern Unlock. Under his Security -> Screen unlock it is the same as mine, with only "Change Unlock Password".
Now not have the pattern unlock is not the end of the world, I just liked having that small bit of security...just curious if anyone can find a way, short of another hard reset, to get Pattern Unlock back. I'm guessing that the issue is that I didn't enable pattern unlock before setting up Exchange and allowing it to enforce that security policy.
Recently I've noticed that I accidentally answer phone calls without realizing it while the phone is in my pocket.Callers then hear the rustling of my phone rubbing the inside of my pocket.I've read that when the Droid X's screen is off, I should have to slide to answer a phone call.However, even when my screen is off and the slide to unlock and pin number lock are active,I am still presented with two buttons when I get an incoming call.This happens regardless of whether people call my regular phone number or my Google Voice number.I have LauncherPro installed.Am I missing something?I'd like to have the slide to answer feature so I don't unknowingly answer phone calls.

I just installed LauncherPro and now when I receive incoming calls I can no longer slide and answer calls. No matter what I do, the screen will do nothing other than show incoming calls and the slider, but the slider will not slide.
Is there anyway to answer phone calls (other than auto answer) without using the slider?
from time to time, when my phone rings the option to answer it is not appearing. even when I unlock the phone there is no option. i don't have any live wallpaper. I wonder if Launcher Pro is causing the problem

I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..
I'm seeing so many people complaining about the new lock screen that it seems that many Droid owners aren't using a pattern lock to secure their phone. This really surprises me, the phone contains access to all your email, contacts, calendar, and any other personal data you may have placed on it, and a large percentage of you aren't even using the basic security provided by the pattern lock? Or is it that many people don't know the pattern lock exists? I just can't imagine having a phone like this that isn't secured to whatever extent is available.

I'v done this 100 times now with the correct username and password but it does not open my Hero. It is like it dosen't tjeck it online....
