Can I just swap the SD card from my Droid to my X when I get it today, and restore the apps with Astro File Explorer? Or, is there something specific to the Droid on the card that would cause a problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedBrand new to android, and loving it. But with the release of the Audible app and various music files, I'm going to fill my little 2GB card soon.
How would I go about switching to a larger capacity card? I'm not worried about data files, I know I can copy all of that stuff off the card, but what about any apps or app settings that might be stored on the card? If I simply copy the entire contents of the card to a new one, will everything "work" when I start the phone up? I confess I don't really know much about the android guts, but I'm willing to learn!

Got myself a new memory card , do I need to swap anything from original memory card to new card or can I just swap ?
View 2 Replies View Relatedanyone out there, besides me, trying a swap app like Swapper for Root? The logic seems sound, like with computers, to setup a swap file on the SD card since our internal memory is so meager.
I admit, I can't say I have "noticed" much of a difference in the last week. And my lag of app icons showing up - many report this in 2.2 mind you - has not improved, but just curious if others have tried a swap app of some type and noticed a benefit on the Droid D1's?
When ever I partition the sdcard it gives the option of installing a swap partition. I know that my ubuntu installation on my laptop installs a swap partition when I installed the operating system. Would there be any benefit for installing a swap partition on the sd card?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been looking for information about using ext and linux swap partitions today and thought I would ask here from more experienced users. If I understand things right most ppl use the ext partition for apps2sd but with froyo this is build in. So is there any further benefit to creating an ext2/3 partition? I've also read a few items on the linux swap partitions and its usefulness on older phones like the g1 but with the droid is this even needed? Arguments can be made for and against the linux swap but im looking for opinions or experience using it with the droid.
I know some roms make use of these from time to time but is there any benefit to using either type of partition on a rooted droid running the stock os. I try roms from time to time but stock seems to suit me better since I can run the wifi teather and overclock my droid up to 1.2Ghz and then remove the stock apps I don't want.
I just recently rooted my phone(iball Andi 5c) which runs on android ics 4.0.3..Mainly to use the sd swapper so I can get more space for apps but I have seem to have made a mistake when I used some sd swapper app.As soon as I used it rebooted my phone.I thought it did what it was meant to do but instead both my ext sd card and usb storage disappeared... gone poof just like that. Now I have no storage only phone memory.

View 1 Replies View Relatedtoday I put my sd card into my sd card reader to throw some photos on to my computer. After I was done i put the sd card back into my droid and booted it up. After booting I get a notification saying my SD card is blank, so I turn off the phone and pull the battery out. When I grabbed my SD card it burnt my hand "literally" it was that hot... Wtf?!?! I put the SD card back in the reader and the computer doesnt even see the card. Idk if anyone has heard of a similar problem b4 and knows a fix...Thanks in advance! Side Note; I work at a cell phone repair store, so I put the sd card in two other blackberry's and they say "your sd card needs to be formated or it is corrupt". I put other sd cards into my phone and i have no problems.

I already have the two layouts created in XML, but I can't figure out how to swap between the two during runtime. I would like to cause it to check during onResume() since it is called directly after returning from the Preferences screen and when starting up, however I can't figure out the code necessary. I tried just using setContentView() a second time, but it didn't seem to work. What can I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm upgrading from my Droid 1 to the Droid X tomorrow and would like to start my use of the DX with it's new 32gb card in place of my old 16gb card from my Droid 1 but need to know if there's anything required to copy from my droid 1 16gb card to my new DX 32 gb card that would be required or helpful in the DX use.I will obviously transfer music/vids/pics but are there any essential files, apps, etc. that are needed.Or is it a good idea to use my paid MyBackupPro to copy the old Droid 1 apps/data for use in the DX larger memory card or is this not copatible to perform between the 2 devices?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI rooted last night, DL LFY and LFY1100 kernel. I installed the kernel and then LFY itself. After trying to reboot it only gets to the custom boot screen and will not launch. After 15 minutes I pulled the battery and tried to launch in recovery mode to load my backup. Upon trying to do that it says cannot mount to SD card. I try again and same thing. After failing to mount it goes into the same custom launch screen for LFY but no OS comes up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had any issues with their Droid 2 refusing to realize that there's an SD card inserted? I went through basic troubleshooting steps for this:
1) try a different SD card - no dice
2) format the SD card - again, nothing
3) factory phone reset - nothing
I have 3 cards: a 2gb, an 8gb and a 16gb. the 16 is what I had in my Droid 1 and it had no issues whatsoever!
I rooted droid X and copied apk files into the sd card, but suddenly I don't see the files even though I did not erase. I can see them in ASTRO but not in the explorer (computer). Also, I realized that pictures of screenshots are not appeared in the explorer but I can see them in ASTRO and gallery in the phone. So how can I see and erase them?

Just like many of you probably are, I am in need of more storage. 14 GB is evaporating fast, and I'm not sure the SD card is upgradable yet. I don't fully understand exactly what an SD card does besides provide storage (ie: does it function as a hard drive, etc). Basically, how are those who are upgrading their SD cards doing so without having to reload all your apps, re-buying apps you paid for, and having to otherwise completely set up your Droid all over again from scratch?

Anyways, what I was wondering is if I put all my apps on my SD card, what happens when/if I reflash my ROM? Will I have to wipe the SD card, reinstall the Apps and reback them up top the SD card? Or does it install once the SD card with the programs is inserted?
