Is there a way to control the order of photos in a file? I set the order of the photos that I want, but they are reordered in the phone. I'm trying to set up a particular slideshow.
Alternatively, does anyone know what order the phone uses to display photos? Logically, it might be by date the picture was taken, but that does not seem to be the case.

I have some old magazine scans on my Desire. Just updated to 2.2 and now the pages are all out of order! The covers are in the middle of them all. Even though when I look at these files on a computer they are all in the correct order. I have some photos on my phone too, they are all messed up and the phone is not sorting them by the filename it seems. Is it sorting them by the date the photo/scan/pic was created?
Anyway, my pics are a mess and I was wondering if there's a way to sort the photos by the filename given, like a computer does. Also, before I go, sometimes when I go into Gallery (or Photos as it was before) sometimes the phone seems to get stuck on creating the thumbnails for each folder, gets half way down and decides to start again, resetting all the thumbnails to blank, this can go on for ages and makes getting to any lower down folders impossible, cos the screen always scrolls up to the top when it starts re-creating the thumbnails.
I guess no one cares to listen to their favorite music in the order the artist intended? we now listen to timeless classic Opera in whatever order? makes no difference? Classic Rock albums out of order? Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero in January of this year, and until now, have had my pictures from my old phone in a separate folder from the photos taken on the Hero. I decided that I'd like them all combined to better organize my SD Card. I figured that if they were all renamed sequentially, the Photos app would sort them by name. (IMAG0001.jpg, IMAG0002.jpg, etc...) I used Automator on the Mac to run a workflow that sorted all my pictures by creation date, and renamed them in the sequential format stated previous. This is the format that the new photos taken on the Hero had. Once I re-opened the Photos app, all of my pictures were sorted funny. I'm quite upset about this.
I proceeded to modify creation and modification dates on the files, and still had the same sort order.
Does anyone know how the photos are sorted? How can I modify the sort order? How can I manipulate my photos so they'll sort properly?
I want to change the order of songs of playlists created in my Android [Samsung Galaxy S / Vibrant], but can't figure out how to do it. I've figured out how to create playlists and delete duplicates. I can delete songs from a playlist, but if I just want to move them up, so far no luck. [I'm trying the free version of MixZing player since the std. player says there's not room in my music database to show me the artists in my collection, but that's a different problem. I suppose there's a chance that upgrading MixZing might solve this problem, but I doubt it.

Even on my downloaded albums, Windows is able to pull the track number for each MP3 file out of the file. So why does my Droid X (Android 2.1) display and play the tunes in alphabetical order by track title? That really isn't the way any Android user is going to want to listen to, say, the cast recording from Rent.

I'm using Windows Media Player to save from CD to PC, then copy and paste onto my SD card.

Using the default music player - just called 'Music' when I play an album the tracks seem to play in a random order. The player seems to be reading tags properly , correct track names and artwork etc and if I look at a tracks properties in the player software I can see that it is reading track number info. I don't know if there is a setting I have got wrong but it would be great to get songs playing in right order. Other than this the Desire is great.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have tried the default music player that is installed with the Droid-X. I've also bought the bTunes player and installed the MixZing player (free version). What is wrong that, by default, all list the tracks of an album in alphabetical order? At least bTunes will let you optionally sort by original track order (although the way given by bTunes is counter-intuitive and you have to start playing a track before you can sort).
By default, all albums should display in original track order. I suppose that for those who have difficulty reading, perhaps an option to list tracks in alphabetical order might be in order for ADA compliance or something. Otherwise, when I browse one of my albums, I want to see it in the order that the original artist intended.
My friend sent me a picture via his iphone. He simply selected send to a friend, punched in my phone number and it was sent. Thus, i'm guessing its MMS.
I cannot see the image; it gives me an "unsupported media type".
Can anyone give any advice on how I would see the sent image?
EDIT: I should add this question: Do any of you fellow android users have this same problem? Do any of you NOT have this problem?
the media provider cleans the media files, if files didn't get read since last two month. does it cleans(delete) the private application media file stored on sdcard, too if didn't get read from last two month? or Appl Private media file does not come under media file?

I try to play a mp3 which is locate und the assets folder. I know there is another way with the /res/raw/ folder, but use the assets-folder because later I'll try to access the file by String.
This code works to play a mp3-file:

Now the problem: In the same assets-folder is another mp3 file stored. Though I specify the name of the mp3 to use it take the one which comes first in alphabet. E.g. the other file is named "music.mp3" it plays this one. Renaming it to "worldmusic.mp3" it will play "song.mp3". Rerename "worldmusic.mp3" back to "music.mp3" it will take this mp3 again. Another test: Renaming "song.mp3" to something other so the application can find whats specify by the code above will result that no song is played. So this means the songname have to exist, although it take arbitrary the song first in alphabet.
I'm testing with the AVD emulator of eclipse. But I think the behaviour would be the same on a real device.

I don't see anything about this change in the API differences report at http://developer.android.com/sdk/api_diff/8/changes.html. However when my Nexus One started running Android 2.2, the list of files created by the following code are now in reverse alphabetical order rather than alphabetical order (as they were with Android 2.1 and earlier, AFAIK):

The line "Arrays.sort(fn);" revives the alphabetical order of the list, but sorts are computationally expensive and AFAIK the explicit call to Arrays.sort() was unnecessary prior to Android 2.2.
In addition to seeing this order change on the Nexus One, it can be confirmed on the emulator running level 7 and level 8 AVDs.
If I rotate a photo and transfer it to computer or email or anything the rotation does not stick, only in the image gallery.

The Motorola site offers a free download of something called "Motorola Media Link" which it claims will enable you to easily move and sync music, photos, and video between your computer and your Android phone -- it claims to work with iTunes and with Windows Media Player. Have any Phandroids downloaded and installed this? And if so, how is it working? I am getting a Motorola Droid on Friday and wonder if this download (assuming it works with Android 2.0) is a must-have for me. I got it to work well using a 848x480 ratio with avs converter, but it was only a 2 minute clip of the movie I want to drop on the movie ironman 2 that is 6.71gb from a blu ray.

The music is WMA format.Sometimes it'll play the first few seconds, then stop.Sometimes, when I press party shuffle after it says it can't play it plays! This is not just one album, but any of them.
