Oct 19, 2010I'm having an ocd fit over the calculator. Does anyone have the working stock calculator app?

View 3 RepliesIn the stock calculator app, when you turn your phone sideways/landscape, a few additional useful functions will show up, i.e. sine, cosine, exponent... IMO, this makes it better than the calculator app found on the market since this one shows you the entire calculation that you're typing out, rather than each individual entry when you're using several functions in a row.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore applying the Turbo4 ROM, I ran Linpack to get a base number so I can compare it with the number I get after I apply Turbo4. I got a 4.188. The phone is rooted with many of the stock apps removed running the Zeam Launcher, but no other custom ROMS.
Is that a pretty good number to start with? It was higher than I was expecting because most linpack scores i've read about are in the 3's.
I went ahead and added an unmodified version of of the LG Ally V8 stock image to my listing in ROM Manager. When downloading, you will be given an option to root it if you so choose.
View 17 Replies View RelatedRooted my friends ally, installed velocity, than installed dreds custom kernel. The phone isnt liking it at all. I got a nandroid backuo, but much rather flash a stock kernel before restoring back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I get this? I'm getting sick of all my New themes. They are kinda inconsistent and that bugs me. help.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo some idiot thinks it'd be cool if I had apps like Corporate Calendar, Amazon MP3, blah blah blah. Is there a way I can delete apps that just came on my phone so my menu is not 10 pages long? I hate clutter.
On somewhat the same note, the Verizon rep says to download Advanced Task Killer. Even when I kill some of these things they are immediately re-starting up. Then I thought I read somewhere that I shouldn't have ATK on my Android phone. Anyone wanna share the real deal?
I'm using clockworkmod recovery and I was wonding if there was a simple way to flash the stock recovery back I wanted to do this because my updates not instaling.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFirst off you must have a 100% stock rom and be rooted.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI felt it was a bit hard to follow the directions posted on how to restore your recovery after clockwork or allyRR (custom recovery) on a rooted ally so that ota updates will work correctly.
-If you are not rooted install a app called astro from the market and install universal androot from your sdcard ( Universal Androot Beta )
Anyway, here is my simplified version. It was tested on windows 7 x64 and x86 props to drellisdee im just restating his work (http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/146564-ally-recovery-img-here-custom-roms.html)
The file links are on his post and elsewhere on the fourm
-Download-
android sdk (found on official android site)
flash-image (needs to be unziped)
stock_recovery.img (thanks to drellisdee)
install android sdk to C:
install Lg Usbdriver - if needed copy flash_image to the root of your sdcard (remember to unzip it)
copy stock_recovery.img to the root of your sdcard
run cmd (windows command shell) as administrator by left clicking it
/ cd C:androidsdk ools (sdk's tools directory)
/ adb shell
/ $ su
you should have root # prompt on you phone, allow acess.
/ # mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
/ # cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
/ # chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
/ # mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
/ # flash_image recovery /sdcard/stock_recovery.img
/ # reboot
now your done ... wasn't that easy....if you wanted to completely revert to a stock 'out of the box' ally flash the lg v6 rom first then fix your recovery second
thanks to death2all110(How-To: Flash Stock LG Rom)
Finally i have to recommend flashing first the vzb deodexed and radio rom, then velocity 2, then the new v4 jit oc kernel and install adw launcher and set cpu @ 740mhz for max performance/max stability if you want a rooted ally... personally i used allyRR to achieve this, it personally gives me less trouble than clockworkmod... all of these file can be found on this forum or market.
Does anyone know what kernel version I should have with the stock VZ8 or VZB?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWould anyone happen to have a completely stock ROM that they would upload. I'm surprised it hasn't came up yet. When I first used metamorph I didn't realize I really had no way of going back to stock because I hadn't backed up my rom backed up before hand. I did back it up before I switched to velocity but it still has R1L on it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone using Universal Androot (worked perfectly) and then proceeded to install ROM Manager to flash a custom ROM to my Ally. I used the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first (sucessfully) then used Backup Current ROM to backup the stock (V8) ROM (sucessfully). I then proceeded to install the Velocity 0.1.1 ROM (sucessfully).
I've searched here a bit, and am unclear as to the process to restore my stock ROM using ROM Manager. I believe it would work as follows?:
Use Manage and Restore Backups. Select backup I made, and then restore.
If I wanted to un-root, I could then just use Universal Androot to un-root the phone (although I havent tried that part yet).
Love the ROM, just curious how to go back if I need to.
For the life of me, I can't seem to flash the stock recovery using my phone. I've used terminal, rebooted in recovery and tried to flash zip. Nothing works, just using my phone. I see a flash alternate recovery option in ROM manager but idk how to activate it?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this rooting phone thing, but i was able to root and custom rom my phone. I got the velocity rom running and its great but i miss some of the old LG apps, like the digital alarm clock and the rings that came with it. I tried the appbrain app and i get errors or freezes when i try to look at the LG apps, so what do i do? Can someone give me a hint or a thread i can read?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFinally got Velocity installed and setup the way I like it. It's a tremendous improvement in overall performance compared to the stock. Kudos to Trident for taking the time to put this together for all of us. I only have one problem with it that I hope I can do something about or I may end up back on the stock ROM. Velocity comes with the latest Google maps version, which I hate because you can't clear the data so over time the app builds up more and more used space. Since I use the Google Maps Navigation pretty much everyday for work, that's going to be a small problem. Does anyone know if there is an app out there that allows you to clear the map data periodically? Or is there a way I can push the stock Map app into Velocity and do what I did before and simply ignore the update notices? I know I can just keep uninstalling it and reinstalling it periodically and i may end up doing that if there is no way to clear the data because I would really like to keep Velocity. I hope this doesn't come across as a knock on Velocity because it's not meant to be. I think it's a tremendous upgrade to the Ally and if it wasn't for my unique situation of using Google Maps so much, I wouldn't even be asking.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone has ever tried this new stock music player. I found (here:MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service or Mirror:new stock music.rar in the .rar file I included 2 things;
1. A Program called system app backupper
2: Data file for System app Backupper.
In order to install the new music app you have to either push the music.apk file in the sysAppBackup folder included, or you can fallow these steps.
Warning: I am not responsible for any bricked or broken phones.
*requires root*
1. Download .rar file included in this post.
2. Unzip
3. Copy contents of the "new stock music" folder found in .rar to root of sd card so that the folder titled "sysAppBackup" and the file called com.bg.sab.apk is sitting in the root of your sd.
4. Install com.bg.sab.apk to phone. this will install system app backupper to phone.
5. Open the app you just installed. when open it will ask you if you want to be in "backup" or "restore" mode.
6. Choose "restore"
7. On the screen it will just say "music.apk" (unless you already use the app) click on that to check it.
8. Press the menu button, and than press restore.
9. Restart phone.
10. All done.
If phone goes into boot logo loop, reboot into recovery and than clear cache/dalvik cache and fix permissions! I did not make any of these app, nor know who did. I would give credit to the developers if I knew who they were.
Is it safe to factory reset a rooted stock rom?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed velocity .3 but didnt like it so I reverted to my backup in clockwordmod recovery. How do I remove clockworkmod recovery because I want to go back to stock. In rom manager their is an option to install RA_GNM recovery 1.2.4 is that stock?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to gather info from other ally owners. What is a good home alternative to the stock systems. I tried using launcherpro, but it ate a ton of memory and really slowed the phone down. currently using stock android system, but lately it's been force closing on me(WTF?). Any suggestions?
View 14 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this has been asked before (didn't see a thread on it, anyway), but I uninstalled Android's default browser (Browser.apk) after reading from this post that it was safe, as long as another browser was installed.Afterward, Dolphin and Opera seem to work fine (although I hate Opera, but that's another story). Skyfire, however, just comes up to a black screen, and doesn't do anything else until I decide to exit.Is Skyfire just an overlay of features onto the stock browser, or could something else have disabled it?Also, is there a place/way I can re-download/re-install the stock browser? I mean, I guess I could re-flash my ROM, but that seems a bit excessive.

View 12 Replies View RelatedOk, the family has Allys I am trying to convince them to let me flash Velocity to their phones, But they think I will kill their phones. Would there be a good noticeable speed difference, Battery life? Any other odd perks I can use to convince them?
Cause they are always complaining about how it is slow.
I flashed the custom recovery image instead of the temp way. Does anyone know how to get the orginal one back on it. Im taking it back dont want verizon pulling some stunt on me
