I CANNOT get my phone to sync to my facebook contacts. I got to the settings to get to accounts and sync. Then when I click on add account and choose facebook, it just goes back and won't add it. I am really frustrated. I got it to work before but then I had problems with my facebook and now I can't get it to work again. HELP please!

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter the update to Android 2.1 on my HTC Hero, like many other people, I had problems syncing my phone contacts to my facebook contacts. The process com.htc.bgp constantly force closed, and no linking could be made or is some cases only a part of the facebook contacts were synced. Different fixes has been suggested by users online but none of them worked. But after a lot of trying, a combination of these fixes finally solved the problem for me. Now all my facebook contacts are available to link to my phone contacts. Here's what I did and what you can try:
1. On your computer, go to Facebook Account Application settings. Remove applications Facebook for Android and HTC Sense. Log out of Facebook.
2. On your phone, remove any all Facebook programs or widgets you might have installed.
3. Go to Settings Accounts and delete your Facebook for HTC Sense account. The settings Background data should be checked and Auto-sync unchecked.
4. Go to Settings Applications Manage applications. Enter each of the following applications and click Clear data:
a. Calender
b. Calender Storage
c. com.htc.socialnetwork.accountmanager
d. com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
e. Facebook for HTC Snese
f. Gmail
g. Gmail Storage
h. My Uploads
i. PC Synchronization
5. Restart your phone.
6. Connect to the internet.
7. Start the Photos program
8. At the bottom there should be a facebook icon. Click it and log in to your facebook account.
9. Let all the contacts download.
10. Go to your contacts (People), and now your old Facebook connections should slowly start to appear, and you should be able to link the contacts to your facebook contacts. It might take a while but have patience!
Perhaps one or a few of these steps are not necessary, but at least its what worked for me and hopefully it will help some of you.
Haxsync is a appl which allows on cm9 but the problem is its a paid app and another problem is it drains my battery a lot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo in early May, I got the Android update thing for my Droid Eris. I started it, and it took forever. Ever since then, I can't link my Facebook account to my phone. I've seen a lot of similar situations but nothing exactly the same. I can't link any of my phone contacts to my Facebook contacts. I have the Facebook for HTC Sense and the Facebook app. I can log on and view my Facebook accout, etc but when I go to People my contacts don't have pictures. I've tried to go to menu > settings > account & sync and remove my Facebook for HTC Sense account and manually sync or whatever. Still didn't work. A "force close" message appears every time I try to sync, yet my Google accounts will sync. I've tried going to each contact and manually link them to their Facebook profile but nothing even loads, as in it will say I have no friends to choose from (whomp whomp). I finally gave in and installed that Sync My Pix app but I'm not satisfied. Mainly, because that app saves all the contacts pictures in my photo albums and it doesn't do their status updates, etc. Really, I just don't want an app to make my phone do something it's already suppose to do.

I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. I purchased my samsung epic a week ago and every since I've been getting the message that my facebook contacts is unable to syn at the moment an error of some sort,and too try later.WTH? My facebook calender syncs but not the contacts.I thought that it was th phone so I took it back to the sprint store they restarted my hard drive but it still didn't work,thy sent me to the repair center at another store and the general manager told me to go back and tell them to replace the phone and that I shouldn't be having issues so soon. Well I did that,they gave me a new phone and guess what.yep u guessed it,still the same issue.I went back to the repair center they played with it for 2 straight hours while I waited impatiently and still I walked away with the same problem. What the heck and I suppose to do now?

So my girlfriend got herself a new HTC Aria a few days ago and the thing won't let her link her contacts to their Facebook profiles. All the contacts are stored on her phone, not the SIM has 2.1 stock. You type in the person's name after tapping the 'link profile' button or whatever it says, and no profiles show up in the search box. I noticed that a similar post in the HTC Hero forum, but no one seemed to have any luck over there. And yes, I've gone into the settings and enabled everything that I know to enable regarding syncing, facebooking, and anything else along on those lines.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I sync my contacts to facebook, I then have the option to choose which name I want them displayed as. Either my GMAIL saved contact, or their Facebook name.
When i choose the FB name, after a few minutes or later that day, it eventually reverts back to the Gmail name. Some names end up permanently staying as the FB name, and some I have to consistently save as the FB name over the period of a few hours for it to stay put. This gets very frustrating, anyone experience similar issues?
Also, side note. On the keyboard, anyway to get back the standard Android Keyboard without losing Sense? I miss the Android OS smilies....
I just installed the Jager 1.6.1 ROM and I have Facebook (not for sense). I noticed that in my contacts, I can't link to Facebook, but Flickr is there. As well, in accounts & sync, I can't add facebook, even though it's in the list.

It looks like the folders are there, but they are actually empty. The calendar issue is not really a problem now that i am using Google Calendar Sync, but i would like ALL my exchange email to be on my phone.

I dont know why it had to come to that, it should do it automatically.I have even done battery pulls which should theoretically log me out, oh well, it works now.I have done some searching around and there was a problem with Facebook a couple weeks back, but I dont think this has anything to do with that. I added a new friend on Facebook on the 25th of July, I also added them manually into my People on my Inc. For whatever reason when I go to the Link part of the contact and go to the Facebook Link, it says to pick from my friends. He does not show up in my friends if I am browsing through the link area. I can go to facebook from the phone and from the computer and he is there. It is making me insane.Also the profile pics are not updating, and havent for many months. My wife's picture has not changed on my phone's end in 4 months, but on the actual Facebook site it has.

1) why can't I link my contacts with facebook? I'm not talking about syncing them I'm talking about linking them so that their profile pics come up on under "people" on my phone, every other ROM I've used does this just fine but Zen does not for some reason.
2) Do I need an app from the market to see how fast my processor is running? I've seen where some people have run into troubles of having their processor redlined all the time

I received my HTC last week and I am very pleased with the phone. However I am experiencing one issue with my carkit, the parrot ck3200 LS Color.
It doesn't seem to sync my contacts. Everytime after a couple of contacts it says "Synchronization failed". At first I thought it was because I have some pictures associated with my contacts, so I deleted every picture from every contact, but no luck. The sync still fails at contacts that are in my Facebook friend list. I tried to find some settings where I can turn off the picture sych, but couldn't find it. Then I realized I don't even want the facebook friends to be synced with the phone, but I couldn't find any setting in the carkit or phone to turn that of.
Does anybody have an idea in solving the issue so that my carkit and phone will sync whitout issues?
Does anybody know what system apk is responsible for syncing and updating contacts profile pictures and statuses from face book.I am 2.2 rooted, bloatware removed and I removed a couple others my self. But don't know what apk to re-install so my contacts automatically update. I used syncmypix but I am not a fan of it. I have downloaded both system apps zip files. I just don't know what I am looking for.

I plan on deleting those but don't want them to re-appear at a later date. Is there a way to turn off FB syncing after just the initial sync? I think that's my best option at this point.New here so thanks for the info in advance and I hope to get enough knowledge to help out on the forums soon.
